I have a BlackBerry Bold 9700, I have WiFi Internet in my Home and Office, I Installed Yahoo MSG, Google Talk, Windows Live from BB website, but when I click on sign in button on all of these Instant messaging, and error displayed. "Service not Enabled for this handheld". I don't have any Data Plan on my Sim card, but I still have WiFi Internet and I can browse with my BlackBerry.

I am trying to set up my email using POP. the problem is in "login information" my username suppose to be "abc@blabla.com" but it only appear as "abc" thus my blackberry is unable to sign in to the email that i want to set up; and i cannot edit this area because it is set automatically by my device. Before i used Curve 8310 with v4.5 i can sucessfully create similar account becuase the login appear to be "xyz@blabla.com" instead of just "xyz" in username space. I hope you can undestand my problem,
Had this BB9700 for 2 weeks now, still struggling coz I can't connect to any WiFi. At home, even I turned the WiFi on it will only show white mark and the WiFi logo is still gray. When I try to scan for network to other areas it will ask for hotspot login. My friend can easily connect to her WiFi at home using the BB 9000
I cant understand. Do I need to setup anything?
I have a bold 9700 that I just purchashed from Wind Mobile. I also have a WRT160N Linksys modem. I can connect to the wireless connection and I have verified that my phone's settings are on the hotspot browser. I have entered my BB pin into the basic wireless settings when i type access my network system at 192.168.1.1 but nothing seems to work. I always get "invalid address:"

* WiFi: What settings do I have to change so that my blackberry does transmit all data via WiFi and not GPRS or 3G? I do not have a data plan and don't want one

I'm a brand new BlackBerry user! Got my first ever BlackBerry on Tuesday - and I'm loving it! The 9700 is a beautiful little thing.
But, how do I sign out of Gmail? I'm not sure if staying signed in will abuse my data usage (unlimited with Vodafone, but due to their fair use policy - it's technically 500MB).
I'm just using the 'built in' email tool to get my emails, not sure if there's a dedicated app I should be using, or even if this is considered an app... I know very little about BlackBerry's!

I have spoke at great lengths to Telus Tech support and they cant figure out why it is happening. Have reinstalled it at least 10 times. It has been off Blackberry world or of microsoft itself. Msn can have its issues.I can sign in on everyone elses phone...BUT MINE! No one who has tried could sign in on mine. They are still researching why it is not working.My yahoo works fine!

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently I have been getting a problem with my 9700 Blackberry. When I make or receive calls, I can not hear anything out of my handset. The person on the other line can hear fine (Usually with me going Hello Hello a million times!) The only time I can hear anything is when I have my bluetooth on or switching it to speakerphone.
I tried doing the soft reset (battery pull when the phone was still on) ...still nothing. Although it did work a couple of times. Its on and off, but recently the situation has gone from bad to worse.Anyone out there with the 9700 with the same issue? It's really annoying and I do use the phone a lot for important calls.

I just got this new Blackberry 9700. When I got to Advanced Options > About it says "smartphone (3G, WiFi)" on the 2nd line. However when I goto "Manage Connections" I don't see any options for WiFi. Any ideas what is going on? How do I use WiFi? Just an FYI, I just recently upgraded to this OS, but even with the other OS the options was not there.
Bold 9700 -When I try to turn on wi-fi, the check box will appear checked for a few seconds and then just disappear, leaving the wi-fi off. When trying to search for wi-fi network, I get a message asking me to turn on wi-fi to perform scan; I click ok, then after 20 seconds or so, an error message appears stating that wi-fi can"t be turned on.

I set up the wifi fine but in manage connections i have my network in green beside my wifi and a white tick to the right and its supposed to be a green checkmark im assuming. View 3 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded a few apps from the store onto my Bold 9700 (Twitter, Facebook, Opera mini etc) and have no problems as long as I'm in WiFi range. Once outside this I can't use them without getting a message about them being a WiFi service and to check connection.
My browser preference is set to "Hotspot browser" but even when I change this to 3G I still get the same message. None of the applications seem to have browser setting preferences so I'm not sure how I can get round the problem.Does anyone know of a settings page somewhere that will fix this?
I just got brand new white bold 9700 yesterday from Rogers Wireless and tried to setup WiFi at home. I have BIS data plan and my laptop can use wireless connection without any problems. The phone did found my modem and I put WEP password correctly but it shows white dash and the WiFi icon on screen shows gray. I've been talking with Rogers technical support guys 3 times:
First time they asked me to turn off the phone, take out battery and put it back, delete profile and reset, it failed
Second time: turn off my modem and reboot it, it didn't work neither
Third time: they asked me to download desktop manager and handheld code file to reinstall OS. But I found that the link they gave me is desktop manager 4.6 which is older than mine (the CD comes with the phone is desktop 5.0.1). I have my laptop (Windows vista x64) installed desktop manager 5.0.1 via CD, and I downloaded the 4.6 version and installed it on my desktop pc (windows XP ). But I hesitate to connect my cell to either of them to continue. I don't want to mess up my cell OS. To me it doesn't make sense for me to reinstall OS and even down version from 5.0 to 4.6.
Right now I use my BIS data plan to do everything(check email, BBM so far). I've searched other posts and tried other things like run diagnoses tests, turn mobile network off and WiFi off, back on, delete WiFi profile, rescan put it back, take out battery. None of those worked. Still the icon of WiFi on screen is gray.
My BB9700 is not getting connected to IM such as GTalk, YMsgr, Facebook via WIFI. I do know that it requires BIS services but how come Internet websites are getting connected thru browser via same wifi..

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy 9700 achieves a steady 6+ mb and my new 9780 unbranded (RIM) struggles to achieve 2mb. I have tried router channel changes and WPA - WEP and removing all security. The results remain the same.
I have been to other wifi locations with both phone's and test results are the same with the 9780 always being slower.
Anybody figure out how to use 3G/Edge to mimic wifi for UMA use? Essentially, using 3G for free UMA minutes? Would be easier than using GV but same thing.

Then it stops playing and i have to do a battery pull. to get it to start again. Is there a setting that limits the amount of data that can be streamed using wifi? It is really annoying, considering how long a reboot takes.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cannot recall if my WiFi here ever worked since my network carrier here has a promo wherein I pay 50php for 1 day of internet usage. But then, I realized that we had WiFi here at home, well not always. But the main problem is, it doesn't work on my bb. It reads my WiFi router(linksys) but the WiFi icon doesn't turn white. it's always gray.
That's odd because when I'm scanning for networks and I connect, it always says "WiFi setup complete" But it doesn't show a check mark, it just shows a dash mark. I tried to look for a problem and when I go to services status, my Blackberry internet service is not connected. But I have an active profile of linksys.
I have no signal in my office at work and therefore have to be on WiFi all day at work. My device restarts itself about every hour while I am on WiFi. It never seems to do it while I am on a call. My phone is essentially in an idle status. The screen goes to white and forces me to pull the battery in order for it to finish the restart. The other weird thing that happens is that the special Yahoo mailbox icon switches back to the default email icon after the restart and sometimes the service books are refreshed when this happens because the activation messages come through right after a restart.
