IPhone 5c :: Applying Backup Of One Device To A Different Device?
Jun 25, 2014
This past week, my phone "fell" and the screen broke beyond all repair. And I'm not talking about a crack...I'm talking about a huge crack as well blue lines being displayed whenever I hit the home button. Other than that, the phone still works. It charges, it syncs, it vibrates when I get calls or messages but I can't see anything on the screen. I know that I can still unlock though. I managed to backup my pictures directly onto my Mac using iPhoto. Besides my pictures and Calendar dates, there wasn't much that I cared for within the actual phone.¬
I went to my local phone service provider place and they told me that since my phone was a 4S and was covered for damage, I could send it to Apple in exchange for a new phone. I already contacted them and received my new 5C. Now, I'm not really worried about the pictures because they're already in my computer; I'm worried about all the Calendar dates that are in my broken 4S. Yes, I did do a backup AFTER it fell so I have a backup ready. But the thing is that I do not wish to sync this onto my new 5C just for the calendar dates. ¬
I have an old iPod 4th Generation that I'm willing to use to restore with the backup of my 4S but I don't know how to do that. I was hoping that I could apply the backup of my 4S onto my iPod and then manually enter all the dates that I needed onto my 5C.
I switched phones a while ago and updated to iOS 5. When I got my new phone, iTunes correctly treated it like a new device. I have lots of pictures in a device backup file in iTunes (or do I?). (Location of device backups: Preferences > Devices) I can see the old device backups I did before updating to iOS 5 last October. Is there a way, without "wacking" my iPhone and restoring it to an older version, to get the pictures out of those device backups?
lost my old iphone 4s and got a warranty replacement iphone 4s. However when I tried to restore a recent backup I made to the cloud it said that I could not do it because the old backup was on an older ios and the new phone was on a new ios. Is there anyway that I can somehow restore this backup? Also I don't have any backups to itunes.
I have an iPhone that has already been synced with an HP laptop. This PC is now in need of repair but the price of repair was too costly so I bought a MacBook Pro to replace it.I would like to now sync my iPhone with my new MacBook using iTunes but when I attempt this I get a message stating that all the information in my iPhone will be replaced by all the information in iTunes (which is nothing). I cannot afford to lose all the information in my iPhone but also I cannot update my iPhone using iTunes because it has not been paired with my new MacBook and I am told that it can only be paired with one computer at a time. I cannot unpair it with my old PC because my old PC doesn't even boot up anymore.I was told that I could Backup the information in my iPhone by control clicking on the icon in the toolbar to the left of the iTunes screen which would then let me sync safely. I have now done this but I still have nothing to show for this in the iTunes library (no music, photos, notes, contacts etc.) and I have no idea where this backup has been stored. Also in the help menu in iTunes it says that media files such as songs, videos and some photos AREN'T backed up but can be restored by syncing with iTunes (how is this possible to restore something that hasn't been backed up in the first place?).
I did a backup of my iphone 4 ios 4.3.1 before I started upgrading it to ios 5.1. Upgrade went well until i got to the part of restoring from a backup. For some reason, it asked me for a password which i disable on the iphone before i started upgrading. I tried putting the old password which i disabled but no luck. I tried my laptop password also but no luck. Does anyone know which password are they actually asking?
My 4S will not give me the option to turn on icloud to back up my device.¬ I went to settings: icloud: storage and back up: backup.¬ The bae is not highlighted and I can not turn on Icloud backup.¬ Is there any other ways to back up my phone so I can transfer data to new phone.¬ iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1
The iTunes data on the computer my iPhone was firstly connected and configurated with has been deleted. I was looking for an opportunity to update my iPhone to the newest iOS software (since it was on 5.0) without erasing all the data saved on my mobile. But that time I did not know that all data will be erased when upgrading a device a complete version (like from 3.0 to 4.0 or 4.0 to 5.0) and then it happened. Several hundred business contacts of mine has been erased and cannot be reset. All functions except the phone/message contacts are unimportant now. MOST IMPORTANT: I connected my iPhone with a new MacBook, updated iTunes to 10.6.3 (current version) and synced my mobile with it. Data will be erased if updating on an unknown computer (for iOS device) where no data which are on my iPhone are saved. Unfortunately, the instructions at iTunes Support were helpless because during the important backup for resetting all datas has been interrupted with the following window: Backup not possible , There are not enough space on the iPhone left to finish the backup.
It has never continued and since then all data has been erased. I would be incredibly glad if anybody could give me at least a tip to do something.
I lost my phone and needed to get a replacement. When I did, I started the activation process, but never got prompted to restore from iCloud, just from my last backup in iTunes. I've run the restoration, and the backup was pretty out of date. Is there a way to restore the backup I'd set up in iCloud at this point?
I have missed the 24th preorder date and I was wondering if by any chance even 1 in million manage to get on hold of a payg iphone 4 (uk) from a carrier like orange, 3 etc. Is there a difference having an officially unlocked iphone from apple vs an ultrasn0w etc. unlock device?? (other than any ethical/moral issues ). Any specific stuff that I will not be able to perform with such an unlock?, any downsides like slowdowns (if itís a 24/7 background running service etc) ?
I know that O2 official unlock iphones for $15, but I havenít found any certain info on the other carriers. (note: the phone will not be used to UK at all, so some proposed actions from carriers like: ďuse the phone for 3 months with the carrier and then ask for an unlockĒ will not work in my case.)
I need to put the back up from my old device on to my new Blackberry, but I no longer have my old Blackberry, and I need my contacts, and my device manager says I have to have the old one to do this. Is there any way I can just transfer the back-up file on to my new phone?
For the past two days my XPERIA Z2 has been constantly shutting down after just a minute or two of using the device. The message displayed says something along the lines of 'phone is about to shut down due to high temperature'.. I am aware that I will have to update my software, but before I do that I need to transfer precious data from my phone to my computer, which I cannot seem to do as the device shuts down the immediate moment the PC Companion recognizes it. I am losing my mind, I really don't want to lose my data, mostly my pictures, i.e personal memories.   How to solve this, i.e backup files before updating the software? There must be some way since the device DOES turn on, it just doesn't stay that way for a long time...
I can't seem unlock my device using fingerprint or backup password. The fingerprint animation isn't playing and doesn't recognise that I am swiping the home button.I have tried entering the backup password and it says I have entered it incorrectly when I am for certain entered it correctly.Changing keyboards doesn't fix this. Restarting the phone and removing the battery and SD card does not fix this.
I have previously registered for the Google Device Manager and have tried locking my phone, but that doesn't seem to work. Do I need to have an Internet connection or GPS on my phone to do that? If so, I can't connect to the internet or activate GPS due to it being locked. Is there any way around this?
I really don't want to factory reset my phone unless it's the only last option I have. And I have contacted Samsung support regarding this and am waiting for a reply. I will update if they have replied to my message.
I have recently bought a Nokia 5230 (v 20.0.005) and I have tried to connect it to Ovi Suite. No problems using Bluetooth. However using Micro USB cable when I try to do a Backup or Update the software (problem is also on Nokia Software Updater) it says that the USB connection to the Device is lost and everything fails.I am using Windows 7 64bit (cable is a Standard USB cable)
P990i wireless LAN functionality. Advice please. I just had a look through the PDF manual for the P990i but couldn't find the answer, so I am hoping that someone here as the answers.
1. WiFi Ad Hoc network I note that one can connect to Hotspots but can one connect to an Ad Hoc network, say a laptop, and if so how/what settings (or is an app needed)?
2. WiFi file browsing I would like to be able to connect to another computer by WiFi, see the files on that computer and to be able to exchange files between the two devices by WiFi. Is this possible?
3. WiFi file transfer If browsing is not possible I would at least like to be able to send files from and to the P990i by WiFi. Is this possible? (I note that the Send option of the inbuilt file browser has options only for Bluetooth and IR)
4. WiFi back-up device I would be extremely happy if I could use the P990i as a backup device.
What I would like to be able to do is to set my laptop or camera to automatically send files to the P900i by WiFi and for the P990i to receive them into a folder on the external Memory Stick. Is this at all possible?
I'm trying to update my BB bold 9700 to 6.0 bundle 1879 (v22.214.171.1248 platform 126.96.36.199), when it reaches the modules backup 156 of 660 it says: Application Loader was unable to backup data on your device.
