IPhone 4s :: Getting No Sound In Apps

The problem: my iphone speaker plays system sounds and ringtones, but no sounds from apps.
The volume bar is greyed in itunes, and doesn't even appear in video apps (Youtube and Vimeo).Â
I have an iphone 4s with latest IOS updates. I searched forums but got no result from the answers i found there.Â
- the sound button is turned on;
- I went through the settings many times: all is ok;
- nothing clogged in headset jack. Phone not stuck in "dock" mode;
- Soft restarted and reset to factory settings/reinstalled latest backup, no result;Â

Strangeness.I have great sound from iTunes, but no sound from any other app, and no ringer from my phone. I have tried drying out the earphone socket with a hairdryer, and plugging/unplugging while listening to an iTunes song - all to no avail. I have checked al my settings, and all I can find are set to make sounds heard. Now I am flummoxed.

I'm having trouble trying to get sound on my game apps, the volume on the phone is fine but the game apps have no sound and I cant hear alerts etc.

I have checked, and my volume is on, Sound settings are set to on, and all phone and email and music sounds work just fine. (incoming email makes a sound, phone rings, text messages make a sound...) However, if I try to use any games/productivity apps or any other apps, there is no sound. I have checked each app and it says the sound is on, so I am really at a loss.Sort of a bummer when you have a timer set to ring after a certain amount of time, and it never makes a sound...

My iphone recently lost sound on all the apps. The ringer works however. When I try and press the vloume button on the side all I see is the ringer logo. I dont see the level indicator. When I mute the sound and then unmute the sound i briefly see the level indicator. I can only change and hear sounds when I change ringer sounds. Video playbabck also has no sound. Apps installed also have no more sound.

I have the latest Apple IOS installed. 7.1.1. I have one music album on my Iphone 5S. Now before I ever put music on any of my Iphones I have owned I never ever had this problem. But for some reason the Music App that apple gives us always overrides any other App I have bought that generates sounds or music or well anything that deals strictly with making sounds in general.Â
I have an App installed that I use to fall asleep to at night, it plays a bunch of different ocean wave sounds for a period of time that I set anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours. I dock my phone at night on my clock which is an Ihome clock. Now it doesn't seem to matter if I dock my phone or not it happens even when it's undocked so the Clock is NOT the issue.Â
Here's what happens. Step 1 I close all the apps running on my phone, yep I double tap the home button and swipe UP each and everyone one till they are gone. Step 2 I turn on my sleeping sounds app. Step 3 I hit play. Step 4 I hit the flat botton on top of the phone to turn off the screen, while the sleep sounds are going. The sleep sounds continue to play after this happens.Â
Now here' the kicker, before putting the music on my phone those sounds would keep on playing till the apps time ran out, I usually set it for 2 hours. Yah it takes me a while to fall asleep some nights and others not as long. After I put a music album that was purchased from Itunes on my phone, well about 2 minutes after I turn off the screen the Sleep sounds stop and all goes silent, then 30 seconds later that music album starts playing. I try pausing and closing, I've tried just pausing the music where it's at and hitting play on the sleep app again, I've messed with the Do Not Disturb settings and I still can NOT get the MUSIC to stop overriding my sleep app. Â
I mean I want my sleep APP at night not the MUSIC. Where are the Music controls to tell it to NOT override other apps that play sounds?Â

For some reason I cannot change notification sounds in each of these apps. It just falls back to the system notifications sounds. Do I need to change app permissions to allow for this change?

The sound on my phone wont work. My music wont play, you cant hear the keyboard noise or the lock noise, and when someone calls i cant hear what they are saying unless I put them on speaker or put headphones in. When the headphones are plugged into my phone, the sound works fine! i would like to know why the speakers ownt work anymore

There is no sound when you answer or call out but there is sound for everything else. Not sure what else to try to get it working again, did a hard reset on it s few time but now thats not even working to fix the problem.

for some new Sony Ericsson phones (I know the W995 has this problem for sure) there is no option to turn off the camera sound or the focus sound, even when silent mode is on. Here I am going to guide you through a solution to overcome this.What we are going to do is replace the sound files for the camera sound and the focus sound with a sound which is silent, using A2uploader.
1. Download this .rar file I have uploaded with 3 sound files, namely camerafocus.3gp, camerashutter2.3gp and camerashutter2_rer.3gp
2. Currently you can choose the following sounds
1. Camera shutter
2. Bear can opening
3.Tennis ball
4. Laser
The files in the .rar have been created to replace the Beer can opening sound, however if you want to keep this one, then change the number on the end e.g to replace the Laser sound the two files would be camerashutter4.3gp and camerashutter4_rer.3gp Although please note to replace the Camera shutter sound the number on the end is not 1, but is no number at all e.g. camerashutter.3gp and camerashutter_rer.3gp3.Now you connect your phone to A2uploader (see Tutorial on main website for how to do this) and go to tpa/presets/system/sound and drop all 3 files into this folder. If you want to keep the sound you're replacing right click on it and click 'read' this will create a folder ph_out with this file in it.4.Shut down A2uploader, switch on phone and bobs your uncle!You can also add other sounds, I created a Gavin and Stacey one here but I will happily accept requests for others.Hope this helps! When I make calls and recieve calls, no sound comes from the earpiece at the top, the volume level is maxed out and nothing. Then when I go and press the speaker it works. The phone is only 1 week old... the only thing installed is battery doctor
