Jan 21, 2010I've just attempted to update my E72 to the latest firmware using the OTA feature. In fact I made the upgrade via my WIFI connection. The downlod succeeded, then the E72 updated the firmware and rebooted.The problem is that my E72 isn't rebooting at all. After it switched off (for the reboot cycle) it could not start anymore.When I'm powering it on, the display shows some background activities, then there is a line and finally it switches off.It seems that the firmware update broke the OS. Has anyone encountered a similar behavior ?

Mar 31, 2010I've read through many posts on this forum of users reporting that their phone keeps rebooting after an update and although mine keeps rebooting, it's not because of an update.I've been happily using my N900 since 11 Jan 2010 and have been applying updates as they've come. The last time I manually checked for an update was on 24 March 2010. On my way in to work this morning (31 March 2010, with a full battery) my phone started its rebooting fits. To be clear, when I say it reboots I mean the dashboard comes up (wallpaper + widgets and all), as if the phone loads fully, and I can slide to the other 3 dashboards for about 10 seconds, but then it all just suddenly reboots.On my Fedora 12 i686 PC I downloaded and flashed the RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin firmware which went successfully by following the guide at https://wiki.maemo.org/ Updating_the_tablet _firmware. The phone booted up and the screen came up asking for my region and country and all that jazz, I was able to input those details in OK and the home screen came up with the default wallpaper and widgets and stuff.. and then it starts it reboot fits again. I live in Melbourne, Australia and purchased the phone from Amazon.com and sent it via the forwarding service myus.com. I use the phone on the Optus network.Is there anything else I can try on the phone to bring it out of its rebooting fits? Or should I return it to Amazon.com... and if so, how can I do that being that I'm in Australia and "cheated the rules" bringing it out of the USA?

According to other forums that I have read, that seems to be my problem, but I have tried all of the methods that other users have suggested, such as: rebooting in Safe Modedeleting appsupgrading my OS (currently have 6.0)turning off JavaScript on the browser...none of these worked.I noticed that when my screen would freeze and my phone would reboot, I am usually on the internet. My phone seems to be fine if I am just texting, using BBM, Twitter, etc. So I have no idea what's going on. I've had to pull the battery probably 10+ times just this evening; gets quite annoying.

Nov 22, 2011my nokia x7 smartphone ( if its smart enough - i guess) switches off automaticall after every action. you call some one , access internet, download a file, recieve a call, listen to music...it has to switch off. have noticed this defect after i upgraded to a software available on the Nokia Site. Much to my amusement i was informed that i should not have updated the software of my phone via the web. Then WHY do you have it there????? Also now the software update section for the x7 handset has been taken off the website. they say that end of december Belle will be available with x7. it seems there are pretty serious problems with Anna. hope Nokia does something big time about this as a new phone just launched a couple of months in the market is playing up seriously with other couple of problems (dust under the screen restarting to name few! what a comeback Nokia with the launch of their so called Gamin Device.

May 31, 2011I have researched a lot on this topic and I've been able to make my phone ask me if I want to connect to Wi-Fi or 3G whenever I open an application like Opera Mini, Communities, or chat. The problem is my phone still randomly connects to 3G when I'm out and about. There seem to be some background processes using data and thus making me waste money. I changed the communities and mail settings but it still connects to 3G randomly.

Jun 28, 2011I wanted to update my software so I plugged it into my PC, everything was going fine, the update started and then my PC decided to not recognise the USB anymore and my phone got disconnected First it went blank, so I switched it off. Took out the battery, tried to put it back on but the screen was black and it was constantly vibrating like mad!!I read quite a lot of posts about problems similar to mine, but there is a slight issue here.. My red.green buttons arent working at all. I suspect people from the service that were fixing my phone before forgot to "plug" the buttons because before everything was fine but I was too lazy to go back and managed to live withough these buttons so I cant try red/green and camera button to restart,What to do? Nokia care point? Does my warranty cover things like that?

Yesterday, I update the firmware of my phone from v12.0.089 to v20.0.005.The update was done through the Nokia Software Updater and it was successful. However, after that the phone started behaving abnormally and it is getting restarted automatically. For example: whenever any call is coming and I want to receive that call, i click on the receive call button and then the phone gets restarted automatically. Initially the phone used to abruptly hang and would require the battery to be taken out & reinserted to start the phone. After the Firmware update the problem got reduced but now the phone hangs and automatically restarts. This is quite frequent & very irritating.
