Xperia Mini/pro :: Update To ICS Unavailable Even-tough SI Is Listed?
Nov 21, 2012
I'm trying to update my SE Xperia Mini Pro (SI 1249-0767) to ICS. According to the SI-list, the update should be available for my phone. However, both PC Companion and Update Service say my phone is running the latest version (which is version 2.3.4 and build 4.0.2.A.0.62 according to the "About the phone" menu). I've also tried to run the "repair" option of PCC, but that neither gives the update.
add my SI number (1248-9962) on the ICS update table soon. I have been following the SI numbers thread since last month. I have a question - Does my SI number remain the same 'cause I had installed a ftf file with different SI number from the xda-developers forum.Mine is 1248-9962.
I've been having problems with my phone recently, it doesn't recieve some text messages or show my missed calls. A friend suggested that it may just need updating, which made sense because I'd been getting update notifications, just hadn't got round to hooking my ohone up to my laptop. So I did just that and installed the 'companion' but when I try to update, it's asking me to insert a memory card. I've never taken it out! Not once. So i've turned the phone off and on again, as you do.
I just updated my Xperia Mini Pro, but after the update, a) new text messages appear at the bottom of the list of texts (so annoying!) and b) the newest text message does not appear on the list when I reply to it.Is this a bug? I really don't think it's a feature.
Just wanted to share my experience. I did the update on November 8. I didn't bother to do the backup. The only real important is the contacts and Google have them already. I used the Update Service tool and it worked like a charm. After restarting the phone I had to go through the setup wizard, which by the way is much improved. I now realized that I had lost all my downloaded applications. I downloaded them again from market. Most of them had all the old data, nice. Some games lost all history, no big deal really. My contacts, mail and calendar was downloaded from Google.
I realy like the fact that it is possible to send contacts by SMS. The images from facebook also works very well.
The one thing that I am still not used to is the unlooking. The habbit of pressing the menu button twice is had to kick. I think the new way with the slider is somewhat safer. Now I am waiting 2.2 with tethering. I hope this will be available for X10 mini some time in the future.
I just upgraded my mini pro to ICS, it works fine in the first few moments until I realized that my phone can't:
1. Show any album art/cover from the music player. I've tried using the Sony Media Go to add the album arts to the file properties, still it didn't work. Only the 'default' songs from the product i.e brett5000: Globalization, missquerada: Far from love, and 2 others, can display their album cover
2. Update songs. Any new songs that I put into my phone through Sony Media Go aren't shown in the music player, only the old ones are present (though I've deleted it). I found the files when I opened it using a file manager program from the Play Store, but when I played it, none of its properties are present except the title of the song itself. It's not even present in the music player
im trying to update my iphone and now its saying the server is unavailable so try connecting to itunes, once this is done it then says no sim is fitted?
I received a message on my XPeria Mini Pro about the 4.1.B.0.587 Update. In fact, I can not install it. When I start the PC Companion software, it finds the connected Phone. Then I click on update. In the following window I click "Accept" and then the software should prepare the PC for the update. But after one second it stops and returns to Start without any comment. When I start Sony Mobile Update Service then it checks for new updates. As soon as the check is over, the program terminates without any comment. Is there a third way to upgrade?
My config: PC with AMD, Windows 7 64 Bit, 16GB RAM
how to get rid of this ICS update and update into the old android version. I am having some serious problems whith my phone after ICS update (physical keyboard not working, problems in adding phone contacts, reboots after every app close, acting slow).
When u search for software update in phone it says "you have the latest software and applications from sony ericsson. your phone is up to date." At present my android version is 2.3.4 and build number is 4.0.2.A.0.62. But when you download pc campanion it says "New Phone software version available (4.1.B.0.431)"After carrying out a software upgrade, note that:Android 4.0's hardware requirements are more advanced than previous software updates, so your phone's performance may be affected. Our commitment to offering you the best, means that once upgraded you will not be able to revert back to an older version of Android. To optimize your phone's performance, some applications may have been disabled and will not be visible on your screen. A new installed application called 'Performance Assistant' will help you enable these apps. Please also note that some 3rd party applications may not be compatible with Android 4.0. Please visit Google Play's marketplace to view apps that are compatible with Android 4.0 or contact the 3rd party developers directly for support.Flash support will be disabled, but this can be easily fixed by visiting Google Play's marketplace and downloading the latest available Adobe Flash player application. But when u find SI (Sales Item) released software table the software for xperia mini SI is 1248-9517 is released and available in PC Campanion where it can update for xperaia mini.

I updated both Iphone 4's to 5.1.1. and now whether related or not both phones are wonky dropping WIFI in the house. It comes on and off when it pleases. I looked at the time capsule for WIFI settings and all seems fine. My Ipad2 works fine and AppleTV gen2 works fine just both Iphones. My network shows up in the WIFI list and when I touch to log in it says network is unavailable.

Many of the reviews say that after the update to ICS, the led is not working. Is this the same for all the users? Will Sony Fix this problem with the future update?
My PC Companion is showing ICS update for my Xperia Mini but I'm unable to do so. My computer hangs as soon as I connect the phone by pressing the volume down key in second step.
I want it to know if there is any way I could update my xperia mini pro to ICS that is not the common way (i can do it using pc companion), because I bought my phone to Claro (like at&t) and they wont release the new android version.
