I have owned 2 Apple phones and have jumped ship to Android and to Sony, having purchased a Z5 Premium. My issue is this: I have read several articles where it explains in full how to make keyboard shortcuts (for like your address for example) and I have followed the instructions to a "T". It doesn't work. I go into settings->Language & Input->Personal Dictionary->English(Canada){I've also tried it using the US setting}->add->type a word->shortcut. When I then go and try to use my shortcut in email, text or notepad, nothing works!
Without warning, my soft keys stopped working. When I press one, they activate whatever is on the touch screen above them. (For instance, the menu soft key is right below the widget on my home page for contacts. When I press the menu soft key, it activates the contacts widget rather then accessing menus.) I tried a factory reset (I'll spare you the frustrating story of how the backup app I paid for doesn't seem to have worked as promised for me, though thousands of others love it), which included clearing the cache and was done using the external keys not via the reset option in settings. Freshly restarted, prior to adding any of the apps or changing anything, the soft keys still exhibit that behaviour. (Though, come to think of it, I also think the wallpaper stayed, which makes no sense to me. Everything else had to be reconfigured and the reset/cache clearing didn't throw any errors...hmz...)
The Droid 2 keyboard has a back button, which I've been using non-stop since the soft keys went out on me. And a search button, but I never use that. I can get by without a way to simulate having the home key (though I wouldn't mind that). But, as you can imagine, the lack of a functioning Menu key is a serious impediment. I love my Droid 2 enough that, rather than use my "new every 2" to upgrade to a Droid 4, I'm hoping to either fix my issue (which could include fixing the soft keys OR findind a keyboard shortcut for the Menu key) or buy a "new" Droid 2.
So, anyone have either a troubleshooting suggestion other than a reset (tried twice now) and/or know a magical shortcut on the physical keyboard that will do the same thing as the Menu soft key?(Phone is not rooted and has the latest version of Android that Verizon pushed...Looks like 2.3.4)
I read that the standard Android keyboard shortcuts for cut/copy/paste are menu+x, menu+c, menu+v. These shortcuts, however, do not work on my Xperia Pro. If these are indeed meant to be the standard Android shortcuts, then please could SE implement them?
New owner of a 4s and need to be able to add several lines such as an address to the 'phrase' box in keyboard shortcuts. If I hit return it takes me to the 'Shortcut' box. I need to create many of these shortcuts so using signature is not going to facilitate.
Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts for the Droid 4?In my Droid 1 browser there are go to homepage, open search dialog, reload page, go back/forward in history, go to top/end of page, show bookmarks, show preferences, create new window, close current window, activate text selection, etc.
Im 8900 owner, and im using Hebrew language and running 4.6.1.199 OS.When i got the BB (running Hebrew) the keyboard shortcuts ("R" to reply, "T" for top, etc) worked well, and after a while its just stopped to work.
I tried battery pull, doesnt help. With English the shortcuts works fine, but sometimes after reboot it stop working and then im changeing the language to another>then back to English again and the shortcuts back. (it doesnt work for Hebrew).Anyone can think about something i can do to make the shortcuts work on Hebrew again?
Last night, I realized that the keyboard lights and the two light between the home botton do not light up. (I am sure they were working when i first got it)I did is to update it for 4.0.2.a.0.42 to 4.0.2.a.0.58, but i am not sure did the lights when out because of the update.
I can only use the shortcuts when facing the "playing media", music to be exact. If I'm at the home-screen, menu, blackberry messenger or any other screen besides the "playing media" screen, I can't change songs, volume and pause/play. I've been having this problem for a couple of weeks, how to enable the shortcuts (the side-buttons) no matter what's on your screen?
I initially tred to update my phone from Win XP and it failed with error - "Unable to install or start phone software update components". I then retried from Mac and it was updated successfully. However, after update hard keyboard has stopped working with apps.
I have tried to repair it from my XP (since in Mac Bridge I did not find the option for repair) and it failed again with the above error.
It would be awesome if you bring back the "press and hold shortcuts" on the notification curtain, as if you press and hold the WiFi-icon, you'll go to the WiFi-settings etc. At the same time if you press and hold an open application, you'll go to the settings for that.
I had some applications installed from my sd card. once i removed my sd card and reinserted, i couldnot able to find my applications, now i want to delets those shortcuts
How can I assign photos to my shortcuts following the update on my xperia x10? Also I can see photo files via pc companion but damned if I can find them on the phone? Since ths major update it seems to have screwed up me being able to find anything via the phone itself.
i know how i should delete them, i just hold my finger on shortcut for few seconds and drag it to the recycle bin at the bottom. The problem is, even when i do that, the shortcuts stay where they were..
in the last couple of weeks has randomly started 'shaking' between the 5 screens, and randomly opening shortcuts. Initially I thought I might have leaned on the screen when it was in my pocket (although I was sure it had screen-locked) and it was processing the outstanding signals, but it is now doing it when I haven't touched the screen or had anything else pressing on it. Turning it off and on again helps for a bit, but it starts again after a while. Is this something a software update would resolve (though I'm not having any success with the SUS either.
My Curve 8900 is less than 6 months old, and suddenly the keyboad will not work, so I cannot make/receive calls, and although the trackball works, it will not "click" to unlock it. Seems to be an intermittent fault. As I own the Blackberry (it is not bought through a service provider), I tried to contact Blackberry customer services UK, who seem to be reluctant to deal with consumers. My service provder, O2 were much more helpful. How can I get a replacement/repair under warranty, or fix the problem?
i woke up to my blackberry curve 3g not turning on, i plugged it into the charger then unpluged it and the screen was on. The trackpad and the keyboard was not working at all. i have tried taking the back out whilst the phone is on, however this worked once and has not worked since.
My BB Torch keyboard suddenly stopped working and cannot even input the password to unblock. I found out after several trials (don't ask me how many) that if I slided open and closed 2 times and then I press twice the "alt" button the keyboard starts working. Also the side button that I had for the camera is not working. Digital keyboard works fine. When the keyboard does not work, the outside keys (call, back, BB, touch pad, hang up) do not work either..
my Nokia N95 8gb is having problems. The keybord dont work after i have restart it.Now when i turn it on, i can`t enter the pincode. The only thing that works is the on and off button.I have try to take out the batterys and restart it , but the keybord still dont work. What can i do to get it on or to take out my telephonelist to my new nokia? I am the owner of a Blackberry Torch, and all of a sudden today my keyboard and buttons ( back, red, green, and the blackberry button) won't work! The only way for me to do things on my Blackberry is if I pull the battery, put it back in, wait for it to load, then enter my password ( using the on screen keyboard) then click one app. And once I am done with that one app, I click my red button, and nothing happens same if I click the back button!
Sometimes the Whats App keyboard on the N8 stops working. By this I mean I click in text space and the it does not turn into a keyboard.I can upload images or any other menu options. It is updated to the latest version.
I have noticed that if the usb cable is connected when the E7 keyboard is locked, the phone does not charge. Is this a bug or an "undocumented feature"?
