I have noticed that if the usb cable is connected when the E7 keyboard is locked, the phone does not charge. Is this a bug or an "undocumented feature"?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust bought the nokia E7. Well had little problems with it but have been solving them bit by bit.The problem that I haven't solved yet is that when locking the phone and creating the password to unlock it, it doesn't seem to work.
I touch the power button to lock and it locks. A screen with number appears so that I can put the password and selecting any number or even pressing cancel unlocks the phone.
On firmware v22.014. The Keyboard light doesn't work on power saver mode (or low brightness settings). I tried to use 'Brightness Control' app.. It doesn't work to my satisfaction. But its better than nothing.

I plug USB on phone and PC (Win7), charging started, and after few seconds, charging stops. I try to restart phone, PC and plung and unplug UBS, but the problem still exist. Took all the usual precautions like removing remote lock (didn't reset the custom lock code to default) backup content to PC & memory card, then removed the card from the phone before upgrade. Then after upgrade and restoring settings inserted the card & was prompted for a password. Tried lock code/default lock code before and various other passwords before figuring out it might be the message text for the remote lock.

View 2 Replies View Relatedso i changed the battery on my e7-00 the other day, after following a tutorial on Internet. i changed it with no problems, reassembled, and then turned the phone back on, and now the phone does not recognise when the qwerty keyboard is opened, and it hence does not turn the screen, nor type the correct letters. the phone had no problems prior to this happening.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my E72 for about a year and a half now, and whereas originally I could charge it via USB, it stopped doing this after a software update. Soft resets, hard resets, OS update: nothing helps.
To clarify what exactly happens:I connect the E72 via USB. It beeps long, indicating that it's connected to 'PC suite', and short, indicating that it started charging.It keeps charging whilst the backlight is on.As soon as the backlight goes off, charging stops. The only way to have it charge again (at least, until the screen goes black again) is by removing and re-inserting the USB cable.
On a side note, it's this kind of behaviour, plus that the latest software update meant that you always go back to the top of the page when choosing 'back' in the browser (not a good thing on a smartphone - well, at least they fixed the text select), and the fact that OVI suite (compulsory if you want to do anything useful with your phone, like maps) fills up two-thirds of the screen with this useless shop of theirs, that I've come to the conclusion that my next phone is not going to be a Nokia - a brand I've been using since the late 90's.
But until my employer gives me an Android phone, it'd be nice if I could charge the E72 via USB.
When going in "locked" mode for keys and screen (automatically, or by doing it myself via the Key lock switch ), this also locks the "call key", making it impossible to answer an incoming call by merely pressing the call key. I first have to unlock keys and screen by using the Key lock switch. I have all the latest updates installed and already tried the obvious like restarting the phone, getting called by several fixed and mobile phones (to detect a 'pattern' - without success, as strangely enough 1 time out of 10 the key DOES respond as expected), changing the settings for the automatic key-locking,.

My phones keyboard is not working now and I have tried every single update and all that - when I updated the phone my microphone didn't worked after the update so I had enough and went for it and broke the phone apart - I got the mic working by a miracle, but the keyboard is still out of the game - I haven't abused the item in any other way or has it fell or had rain or water on it - It just ran out of batterylife and when I recharged it with my PC USB cable the keyboard was just not working. Otherwise good devices but not so good reliability. I will try to remeber to post here tomorrow when i have correct t5 torx screw ready - I hope to find something interesting inside.

When I try to write an sms or email on the virtual keyboard (phone slide closed in portrait format), the screen is not responsive at all. The screen is responsive when I press the "write message" icon on the homescreen, I can press any icon etc. and the phone works. Only when I open the virtual keyboard, does it stop responding. Only way out of the screen is to press the physical key on the bottom of the phone.
Anyone else encountered this? Could there be some weird setting that prevents me from using the virtual keyboard? The physical keyboard works fine.
It takes rather long to delete a number of words using the keyboard because the key repeat rate is set up to be rather slow (approx. 5 characters per second).
Is there a setting somewhere where I can increase the speed? I would like to set the key repeat rate to double speed.
I have an azerty keyboard, after the update it is al qwerty. How can I change this ?

I will turn it off, take out the battery and hopefully it will stop.This phone is becoming more and more buggy. At first it was fast and everything worked gr8.
