Aug 23, 2015I have recently received the 5.1.1 update with the new firmware. (build number 23.4.A.0.546)... Ever since I updated the phone, and despite having the ringtone volume set to the maximum level, my phone is always silent. Notification sounds are working properly; however, the ringtone issue persists even after I made a hard reset using Sony PC Companion. I have missed many important calls because of this issue and there seems to be no solution.

Oct 9, 2015Ok, so I'm trying to work out how the silent modes work on my Z3. I'm failing.
So it seems you can press the volume key and by clicking the 'bell' icon I can scroll through 3 different modes: Loud, Vibrate and Silent.
Seems simple enough, only none of these modes silence apps or games at all.
I just want to put my phone on silence/vibrate and know that even apps and games will be silent too.
I thought I could put into vibrate mode and slide the media volume down to zero and it would rememeber it... then putting back into loud mode would make media slider go back to normal volume?... Nope, I have to change it back to loud mode and remember to slide the media volume back to normal...

Now I dont mind the media button, but I use third party applications for my dialer, messages and phonebook. How can I remove these buttons or replace them with the applications I use?

Jun 11, 2010A few months ago on my 3G, I tried switching my silent switch over and it wouldn't stay silent. The switch does go fully to the left side, but it doesn't do the typical vibrate and show the silent graphic on the phone. BUT if I ever so slightly nudge it to the left it does go to silent but there is no way to keep it in place.
It is almost as if there is something in the way or maybe there is a short?My warranty is no longer valid, but the phone is in perfect condition, has been cased. It makes no sense.
Anybody have any advice, because I would like to sell the phone soon but obviously do not want to sell it without the silent working. I guess I could go to a cell phone repair shop but they charge a $30 diagnosis fee and then apply that to the repair. I do not want to get screwed.Anybody have ANY advice or experience with the switch conking out on them. Any home remedies?

With this method, I managed to create 1 year ago the first shorcut "Emploi du temps" (mean Timetable) in gray on the Home screen.BUT NOW, i came across on this page !!! If at all, one doesn't assign a shortcut to it, still there's an icon that is shown as default when nothing is assigned.Here's what you do...1. Download the app called vacuum.sis from the web. Try this link...www.mediafire.com/?a01dw4w4azasjmn2. Install the app anywhere in your phone, phone memory, mass memory or memory card.3. Now go to homescreen and press and hold to go into edit mode.4. Tap the desired location for adding the shortcut bar and select it from the list of widgets available.5. Once the shortcut bar is added, tap it and go into the settings for adding the shortcuts to it.6. Now if you want to add only one app in the shortcut bar, select the desired location from one to four and add the app. In the rest of the locations, add the vacuum app.7.
Now close the shortcut and return to home screen. You should see only one shortcut in the shortcut bar. This way you can place any one app at any location on the grid with app.What's actually vacuum app? Its a dummy app which when installed, results in an app which doesn't do anything on installation and has a transparent icon. So an unknowing tap on the shortcut also will do nothing. Tada! May 29, 2015kies advised that a system update was available for my S5 so I updated. Since then, my alarm doesn't sound in silent mode and system doesn't allow me to change sounds of silent mode.
I've tried 3rd party alarm as well, but didn't make a difference.
