After phone and software updates I now have no spoken street names in Google Maps, I only have generic "turn left" or "turn right".
I have checked and language strings are set to English US for voice output.
Phone updated to Android 5 and now no spoken street names. Updates installed and uninstalled back to base version. Very frustrating as this is the base version that Sony provide.

I'd like my street names back.
I have iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0. Out of sudden, Maps nolonger show street names, everything else works fine. I tried shutoff myphonealready. How to fix it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 5800 XM with Ovi Maps v 3.03. Is it possible to make the street names larger in size? The street names are only 1 milimeter in height in both 2D and 3D view, regardless of zoom level. I am aware there is the street name you are currently on in the center top section in a larger font size, which definitely helps, but it would be nice to have the larger fonts for surrounding streets.Also, is there a way to get rid of the white bar on the right side that houses the "search" and "menu" links? The 5800's screen is already small for GPS standards, and this white bar subtracts almost 1 cm of valuable screen real-estate. It would be nice to not have the white bar and have the "search" and "menu" links stay where they are, but perhaps have a white highlight around the letters or something like that.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia 5800 Nav Edition. I just upgraded to the new 3.03 Ovi maps. Does Ovi Maps speak out street names in the route navigation?? For me it just says "Turn right in 1 mile" .. no street name! It would be very helpful if this feature was included. Am I missing something on how to enable text to speech so that it speaks street names?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried many navigation applications and Nokia Drive holds up rather well. But one area I noticed it seems off compared to many others is it seems to favor or use unknown names compared to other apps. It often calls out street names that are not marked as such.
For instance in Florida it seems to be calling I-95 SR 9. After a little research I found the SR 9 is a hidden designation that isn't marked by any road signs.
I just bought a Nokia 5230. I used the Nokia Ovi Suite to upload one additional voice to the phone: Finnish with street names (Suomi katujen nimill). The upload was successful ( I even checked the memory card). However this voice option is not available on the phone in the Ovi Maps Settings (not for walking or driving).

I tried navigating other SEA countries and the streets appear. (I tried navigating Bangkok and it shows even the smallest streets).
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf instructions upon page 77 of N9 UG (Eng) not clear enough you do need to download appropriate voice file with street names as none installed by default.After you have chosen "Walking person" icon > Get directions > Navigate you need to tap upon grey tool bar at base of screen After selecting Voice Guidance > tap on select voice to reveal choices available.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi just dowloaded ovi maps 3.0 on my 5230 and it works fine. but i'm in iceland and i thought that there was supposed to be street maps of iceland in there somewhere.in the ad from ovi on Internet f.x. they show a map of countries that have been mapped and iceland is on that map but i just can't find it. all i can see is names of towns and cities and the main roud around iceland but no more than that. but when i navigate to london f.x. i get all the streets and street names.(and yes i know iceland isn't that big so i should not get lost but gps can come in handy here like anywhere else)

My VZW Galaxy Note 5 and VZW LG G4 have identical Google Maps version: 9.17.1 (#917101224)
However, the Note 5 was able to start using true offline maps/navigation/search while in airplane mode since yesterday.(provided that I downloaded the offline for the city first)
I have an iphone 3GS thought I would have a play with the spen read text which anything you click on is read with a double click but I don't know how to get back into setting as I cannot scroll down to select the item to turn it off.

I am in Ohio and it is showing my location as in a neighborhood in Salt Lake city, Utah. I have turned location, WiFi and GPS on and off. Also I have turned the phone on and off. i have tried the standard settings, mobile networks, access points names, but when I tap on access points names I just a get a blue screen. There is no option to add a new one.
I recently purchased an xperia ray to which I moved my old SIM from SE K700i. The SIM had many contacts with multiple phone numbers (mobile number, house number.etc) under a single name, but when I viewed it on xperia ray , it shows duplicate names but with different numbers under the Mobile category. Is there a way to merge these names and bring all the different numbers into Mobile, House, Others etc under one name.I searched and found some answers for "Merging" but all were referring to merging different names with common phone numbers, but what I need is just the opposite. Just one irritation, to which I wonder if anyone has a solution. If I switch the phone off for any reason, when I switch it back on, the folders are all still on the home screen, with the icon I have attributed to the folder, but the names all change to 'Apps label'.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter rebooting my phone last night all the existing messages and phone logs show only the numbers and no names or photos. When I go into the contacts I can see the contacts and numbers but there is no link between the contacts and the messaging or phone app.
I have checked and the filter setting are correct. All accounts are syncing ok too.

I'm using a Sony Xperia 3. In my contact list there is no names with english letters, i'm using only russian letters, because i speak russian. But on the right part of the window in the contact list located a fast search with russian and english letters. It would be convenient if there were only those letters on which names in my address book begin.

The reason is, I use my phone a lot for navigation, and unfortunately it seems that Androids just aren't up to the task, although, it could just be this particular model. Ironically, my old iPhone 4 would never overheat, even when I used Google Maps for several hours. However, every time I use Google Maps for just a couple of minutes on the LG G3, my phone overheats and then shuts down. I took it to the Verizon Store, where they told me it was a software issue, and they told me that they fixed the problem, but right afterward, I tried using it to navigate again, and it still continued to overheat. What should I do?

The device became very hot. After I shut down the directions I looked at the battery information on the app battery notifier BT free. It said discharging, temp/health 118F/overheat. I was taken by surprise. Should I have expected that much heat from using Google Maps directions for such a short time?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would just like to report that the Xperia mini pro (and possibly also Xperia mini) camera does not keep track of picture number in file names properly. It will keep track of the number as long as the user does not delete any pictures, but as soon the user deletes one/more/all pictures taken with the phone's camera, the camera system will "fill the numbering gaps" when new pictures are taken, instead of just continuing from the number of the last picture taken.
