I just bought a Nokia 5230. I used the Nokia Ovi Suite to upload one additional voice to the phone: Finnish with street names (Suomi katujen nimill). The upload was successful ( I even checked the memory card). However this voice option is not available on the phone in the Ovi Maps Settings (not for walking or driving).
View 8 RepliesI've tried many navigation applications and Nokia Drive holds up rather well. But one area I noticed it seems off compared to many others is it seems to favor or use unknown names compared to other apps. It often calls out street names that are not marked as such.
For instance in Florida it seems to be calling I-95 SR 9. After a little research I found the SR 9 is a hidden designation that isn't marked by any road signs.
I have a 5800 XM with Ovi Maps v 3.03. Is it possible to make the street names larger in size? The street names are only 1 milimeter in height in both 2D and 3D view, regardless of zoom level. I am aware there is the street name you are currently on in the center top section in a larger font size, which definitely helps, but it would be nice to have the larger fonts for surrounding streets.Also, is there a way to get rid of the white bar on the right side that houses the "search" and "menu" links? The 5800's screen is already small for GPS standards, and this white bar subtracts almost 1 cm of valuable screen real-estate. It would be nice to not have the white bar and have the "search" and "menu" links stay where they are, but perhaps have a white highlight around the letters or something like that.

For me it just says "Turn right in 1 mile" .. no street name! It would be very helpful if this feature was included. Am I missing something on how to enable text to speech so that it speaks street names?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi just dowloaded ovi maps 3.0 on my 5230 and it works fine. but i'm in iceland and i thought that there was supposed to be street maps of iceland in there somewhere.in the ad from ovi on Internet f.x. they show a map of countries that have been mapped and iceland is on that map but i just can't find it. all i can see is names of towns and cities and the main roud around iceland but no more than that. but when i navigate to london f.x. i get all the streets and street names.(and yes i know iceland isn't that big so i should not get lost but gps can come in handy here like anywhere else)

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf instructions upon page 77 of N9 UG (Eng) not clear enough you do need to download appropriate voice file with street names as none installed by default.After you have chosen "Walking person" icon > Get directions > Navigate you need to tap upon grey tool bar at base of screen After selecting Voice Guidance > tap on select voice to reveal choices available.

I have checked and language strings are set to English US for voice output.
I am running 5.0 on my GS5 with Google Maps 9.8.1, TTS enabled, US English, etc... (everything that I can think of) and when navigating, no street names are ever spoken. Only "Turn left", etc...
I'd like my street names back.
Phone updated to Android 5 and now no spoken street names. Updates installed and uninstalled back to base version. Very frustrating as this is the base version that Sony provide.

But their names doesn't show in Inbox, only their phone numbers. What the **bleep**?I somehow added a friend of mine which IS showing, but I did that manually. I then tried adding some of the others manually with no result - still showing only their numbers.Whats wrong?

View 5 Replies View RelatedNokia 700, Nokia Belle pack 1. Some parts of Finland can't be seen in detailed scale and any address on these parts can't be found and thus can't be used for navigation. In other words there are no navigation map at all. There is a lot of such zones - the western part of Imatra, the northern part of Savonlinna, etc. I asked Russian on-line support service about that problem, they answered that the map of Finland is not completed and there is nothing to do with it. I can't believe, is it true that Nokia cannot offer the normal map of the company motherland? I need this map.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI bought a used Nokia E52 with a hope to have maps in the pocket and GPS.After certain struggle I managed to install all maps and it seems to be working.However When I search for a street address, unless there is something on this street (in locations database.. like parking, hotel or restaurant), it doesn't fidn it at all.I looked at many forums, but I can't figure out if it's a bug or a feature.Can one just type a street address in OVI maps (let's say "Rue Saint-Bon, Paris"..or "6 Rue Saint-Bon, Paris") and expect it to find it. I have followed numerous instructions fron these forums again with no success.My prob is that when i attempt to use the Ovimap, I get to the main menu and press Position the map shows for a couple of minutes, yellow bar at bottom blinks then phone restarts.Any help would be great.

And after I registered at TuneWiki, the app scanned my music, and after that I got an error saying that: Disk space exhausted. Please cleanup the disk or re-install application on another drive. Well, the truth is, that I can't even uninstall it, because I get almost the same error. Tried to install the app again without uninstalling but the same happened.

From what I can see on the Ovi Store, you can download it by the "Send to mobile" button.Is there a way to download it into PC first and install from PC into the phone? View 4 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded and started using Ovi Suite. My Nokia 5230 is running old software so I wanted to update it. My phone is completely working and a SIM card is inserted in it and I can call with it, but when I want to install the update then it says that there is no SIM card. I have tried ejecting the SIM card and inserting it again but it didn't work. Do you know anything that would help?And also somewhy I'm unable to install anything into the phone by USB cable.

I have been using my Nokia 5230 as normal for a couple of months, and have noticed that the phone memory is always full or close to full. I have a memory card on there which I use for all my music etc. After reading other posts I cleared my browser cache which freed up 7MB or so. I also discovered 16MB in installed applications. Yet I still have about 55MB unaccounted for. I then bought a USB cable to connect it to the computer and investigate on windows explorer. The properties of the root drive for the phone memory show as mostly in use, yet when I go through each of the individual folders nothing is there. I do not have many applications installed and they are set up to install on the memory card anyway.
Can anyone please solve my problem as to where on earth this 55MB of unaccounted memory is coming from?
