I have a Nokia 5800 Nav Edition. I just upgraded to the new 3.03 Ovi maps. Does Ovi Maps speak out street names in the route navigation?? For me it just says "Turn right in 1 mile" .. no street name! It would be very helpful if this feature was included. Am I missing something on how to enable text to speech so that it speaks street names?
View 3 RepliesI have a 5800 XM with Ovi Maps v 3.03. Is it possible to make the street names larger in size? The street names are only 1 milimeter in height in both 2D and 3D view, regardless of zoom level. I am aware there is the street name you are currently on in the center top section in a larger font size, which definitely helps, but it would be nice to have the larger fonts for surrounding streets.Also, is there a way to get rid of the white bar on the right side that houses the "search" and "menu" links? The 5800's screen is already small for GPS standards, and this white bar subtracts almost 1 cm of valuable screen real-estate. It would be nice to not have the white bar and have the "search" and "menu" links stay where they are, but perhaps have a white highlight around the letters or something like that.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am running 5.0 on my GS5 with Google Maps 9.8.1, TTS enabled, US English, etc... (everything that I can think of) and when navigating, no street names are ever spoken. Only "Turn left", etc...
I'd like my street names back.
If instructions upon page 77 of N9 UG (Eng) not clear enough you do need to download appropriate voice file with street names as none installed by default.After you have chosen "Walking person" icon > Get directions > Navigate you need to tap upon grey tool bar at base of screen After selecting Voice Guidance > tap on select voice to reveal choices available.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've tried many navigation applications and Nokia Drive holds up rather well. But one area I noticed it seems off compared to many others is it seems to favor or use unknown names compared to other apps. It often calls out street names that are not marked as such.
For instance in Florida it seems to be calling I-95 SR 9. After a little research I found the SR 9 is a hidden designation that isn't marked by any road signs.
I have iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0. Out of sudden, Maps nolonger show street names, everything else works fine. I tried shutoff myphonealready. How to fix it.

I have checked and language strings are set to English US for voice output.
Phone updated to Android 5 and now no spoken street names. Updates installed and uninstalled back to base version. Very frustrating as this is the base version that Sony provide.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI planed a route on the Nokia Maps site with a couple of waypoints and some options (no toll roads, no motorways) to get it the way I wanted.
Then I did the synchronization of favorites on the phone and the route was there. But when I tried to open the route on the phone the "Calculating route" message appears and the route that shows up is COMPLETELY different from the one on the Nokia Maps: different roads, strange ways to get to the waypoints, ... In short I can not use this route on the phone as I would like.
Is there a way to transfer complete route AS IS from Nokia Maps to the phone Maps application?
I have a C6-01 and I noticed that when Nokia Maps 3.09 is online, route calculating is irritating slow. Why is that? I cannot think of any reason for that, since Nokia Maps is set to ignore traffic infoI also have Garmin Mobile XT on my phone, and as Nokia Maps 3.09, it only has the map data for the South Brazil region. Both maps have similar size. If Nokia Maps is set to go online, it is way slower on route calculation than Garmin Mobile XT is. don't understand why Nokia Maps 3.09, being a state of art nav system, developed specifically for Nokia Belle, is so beaten by the humble Garmin Mobile XT, which is an outdated system, developed for Linux in the first place !lso, I learned from my experience with Nokia Maps 3.09 that route calculating time is dependent on the amount of maps loaded on the phone. The less maps loaded, the faster is route calculating.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have prepared a route, on Nokia Maps online, which has 22 waypoints plus the start and end point (that's the maximum number of points Nokia Maps online supports). It's a very long route in Brazil: 8.340 Km long. As the route is saved to my Favorites, I can easily see it on any browser when I click on the corresponding favorite name.
But I simply cannot share this route, and I'm very sad about it, because I prepared the route with the intention to share it. When I click on the route's share icon on my Favourites and paste the short link to the browser, I get the errror: "Oops, something went wrong. Please come back later.". This happens on any PC web browser.
Here's the short URL I'm supposed to use for sharing this route: What's going on here? It seems to be a bug of Nokia Maps code or a bug of the URL shortener. I suspect the most on the URL shortenere, as the route has 24 waypoints. But then again, if Maps supports routes with 24 waypoints, the URL shortener should also support it.
If there's any Nokia representative here, could I have a way of contating the support theme in order to follow this up?
I've attached a screenshot of the route on the map, as there's no sensitive data on it.
I've installed ver 3.03 and maps to my memory card. I've discoverd that if I'm offline I can only drive to a location within about 1 mile. Above that I get a "route not found". I dont get this problem selecting walk. If I configure the application to be on-line then I can create a drive of any length.I've tried removing the application and maps and then reinstalling but get the same problem.

The upload was successful ( I even checked the memory card). However this voice option is not available on the phone in the Ovi Maps Settings (not for walking or driving).
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a nokia 5800 version 31.0.101 when I go to OVI maps no map is loaded the GPS works but the maps do not its all green, I can zoom out and see the world but if I zoom in there's nothing, it was working for my local area but I could not search or see anywhere else, I traveled 100 miles yesterday from where I lived but the map never loaded when I got there either.Today I have reinstalled the latest maps, (over written) that didn't work in fact I lost the local area now too. I then did a hard reset still no maps ,I installed the navigation maps from OVI. it updated the options to navigation but still no maps, so I am now at a loss I hope someone can help

I've installed the Ovi Maps 2.0 and download, through the nokia program the maps for Brazil and Brazilian Portuguese voice. During the "Drive"/"Walk" options in Ovi Maps, there is no voice. I don't know what to do. I've checked the updates on the phone software and map software through the computer and it says as the last version.

When I browsed the voices folder however it was there.i had to download another voice thru the maps application (sadly no surfer dud) in order to get voice navigation. Is there any reason for this? I am using a 5800 with v31 and im using maps v3.04. Although with both v3.03 and 3.04 the same problem was there.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought a used Nokia E52 with a hope to have maps in the pocket and GPS.After certain struggle I managed to install all maps and it seems to be working.However When I search for a street address, unless there is something on this street (in locations database.. like parking, hotel or restaurant), it doesn't fidn it at all.I looked at many forums, but I can't figure out if it's a bug or a feature.Can one just type a street address in OVI maps (let's say "Rue Saint-Bon, Paris"..or "6 Rue Saint-Bon, Paris") and expect it to find it. View 8 Replies View Relatedi just dowloaded ovi maps 3.0 on my 5230 and it works fine. but i'm in iceland and i thought that there was supposed to be street maps of iceland in there somewhere.in the ad from ovi on Internet f.x. they show a map of countries that have been mapped and iceland is on that map but i just can't find it. all i can see is names of towns and cities and the main roud around iceland but no more than that. but when i navigate to london f.x. i get all the streets and street names.(and yes i know iceland isn't that big so i should not get lost but gps can come in handy here like anywhere else)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have updated my Nokia N8 to Symbian Belle, and with it came Nokia Maps v3.08. But a feature that I regularly use is missing, to plan a route with specific waymarks or stopovers, ie to go from A to B via C (or in my case usually to go from A to F via B, C, D and E). I even had several routes saved in my favourites in the Routes folder but after the update the folder and contents have been deleted.
Will this feature be restored in a future update? And in the meantime can I uninstall v3.08 and install an earlier version that included the "Add to route" feature?
I just received the latest update and was very disappointed to see there is still no way to set the navigation for shortest or fastest route. This seems like a very basic function for a nav program. Is this going to be added in some future update?

I set it to navigate me home but it kept coming up with the message 'No Route Data'. I have the full UK map installed & it has worked fine all the other times I have tried it out. View 5 Replies View RelatedJust want to mention that, allthough it is free (which is great), the route calculation in Ovi Maps is pretty bad in the Netherlands. It often leads me to a destination in a totally inefficient way.I've compared those routes with solutions like Sygic and Google Maps and they DO direct me much more efficiently so there is a lot to improve there I guess.(Not to mention those times when Ovi Maps tells me to turn around on the speedway when I drive a little bit too the right or left.
