I just received the latest update and was very disappointed to see there is still no way to set the navigation for shortest or fastest route. This seems like a very basic function for a nav program. Is this going to be added in some future update?
how to save a route? When using Nokia Maps, I can save a location. But say I navigate from Distance A -> B, not via the Map's original shown route and want to save this route, how do I do it? There is route folder but I do not see any setting or option to save it.
I have updated my Nokia N8 to Symbian Belle, and with it came Nokia Maps v3.08. But a feature that I regularly use is missing, to plan a route with specific waymarks or stopovers, ie to go from A to B via C (or in my case usually to go from A to F via B, C, D and E). I even had several routes saved in my favourites in the Routes folder but after the update the folder and contents have been deleted.
Will this feature be restored in a future update? And in the meantime can I uninstall v3.08 and install an earlier version that included the "Add to route" feature?
I have the N8. My problem is that when i have calculated a route in maps, i want to view where the map wants me to drive. Several times i have been sent on hopless journeys because i have trusted the route calculated for me. How can i view the route!?
I have the new nokia belle and the stable version of nokia maps 3.08 with full maps of Europe in microSD in order to use the gps in offline mode. The problem is when i go to options to avoid highways and toll roads, when planning a route for example from a city of Portugal to Amsterdam he gives me the following message: Route not found.
I planed a route on the Nokia Maps site with a couple of waypoints and some options (no toll roads, no motorways) to get it the way I wanted.
Then I did the synchronization of favorites on the phone and the route was there. But when I tried to open the route on the phone the "Calculating route" message appears and the route that shows up is COMPLETELY different from the one on the Nokia Maps: different roads, strange ways to get to the waypoints, ... In short I can not use this route on the phone as I would like.
Is there a way to transfer complete route AS IS from Nokia Maps to the phone Maps application?
I have a C6-01 and I noticed that when Nokia Maps 3.09 is online, route calculating is irritating slow. Why is that? I cannot think of any reason for that, since Nokia Maps is set to ignore traffic infoI also have Garmin Mobile XT on my phone, and as Nokia Maps 3.09, it only has the map data for the South Brazil region. Both maps have similar size. If Nokia Maps is set to go online, it is way slower on route calculation than Garmin Mobile XT is. don't understand why Nokia Maps 3.09, being a state of art nav system, developed specifically for Nokia Belle, is so beaten by the humble Garmin Mobile XT, which is an outdated system, developed for Linux in the first place !lso, I learned from my experience with Nokia Maps 3.09 that route calculating time is dependent on the amount of maps loaded on the phone. The less maps loaded, the faster is route calculating.
I have prepared a route, on Nokia Maps online, which has 22 waypoints plus the start and end point (that's the maximum number of points Nokia Maps online supports). It's a very long route in Brazil: 8.340 Km long. As the route is saved to my Favorites, I can easily see it on any browser when I click on the corresponding favorite name.
But I simply cannot share this route, and I'm very sad about it, because I prepared the route with the intention to share it. When I click on the route's share icon on my Favourites and paste the short link to the browser, I get the errror: "Oops, something went wrong. Please come back later.". This happens on any PC web browser.
Here's the short URL I'm supposed to use for sharing this route: What's going on here? It seems to be a bug of Nokia Maps code or a bug of the URL shortener. I suspect the most on the URL shortenere, as the route has 24 waypoints. But then again, if Maps supports routes with 24 waypoints, the URL shortener should also support it.
If there's any Nokia representative here, could I have a way of contating the support theme in order to follow this up?
I've attached a screenshot of the route on the map, as there's no sensitive data on it.
I have a Nokia 5800 Nav Edition. I just upgraded to the new 3.03 Ovi maps. Does Ovi Maps speak out street names in the route navigation?? For me it just says "Turn right in 1 mile" .. no street name! It would be very helpful if this feature was included. Am I missing something on how to enable text to speech so that it speaks street names?
My daughter wants to upgrade from her current 9300 and wants a bigger screen and touch screen/and or keys. These are the choice (I'm in UK) 9860, 9810 or 9380. She's keep going between the full touch, to the touch with keys 9810.Can someone help with the choice who had a similar situation. I tell her that he 9810 looks bulky with the slide, the 9860 and 9380 to me are the same apart from the size of the touchscreen, 3.7" to 3.2" Does this matter much? Is typing still easy on the smaller 3.2" touchscreen?
I would like to report a bug with regards to saving/making a route public.I go into Planning, then Routing, and I have several routes saved from previous workouts. As per below, I click on the "Public Route" check box, and then Save. I just get booted to a generic screen/map with the "Create New Route" button.Regardless of whether I click on save or not, if I reselect the route on the left, then it the "Public Route" check box is cleared again. In addition on the screenshot below, why does it say "2525 Hemlock St, Vancouver, BC V6H, Canada | 0.06 km". This route was clearly 25k. Strange/weird thing also is if i click on "Edit Route", (Hey anthing's worth a try....) and then Save, it actually turns my route (ie destroys my route) into .06 km. This is exactly what happened to the bottom route on the left list; it used to be 25k until I 'saved' it. Oh well, at least I can go into my recent workouts and resave the route and try again!
Just went to a local Rogers store here in Canada to buy a new Nokia Lumia 900 with my friend.I noticed the grey software keyboard of the 900 seems "pinker" than my 800 keyboard, that and some other things.I also noticed the hardware buttons backlight on the 900 seems to be more "yellow" and they are pure white on my 800. Yellow backlights doesnt look as good as the pure white backlight hardware buttons on my 800 in my opinion.
Was hooked on the N95 and after I took on a 6700 which still works fine but has battle damage! Im either going to get another 6700 or something newer but very similar, and the 6303i looks like the one! On the 6303i can I customise the nav button to perform shortcuts i.e left to text, right to select music player. Also looking at the 6303i there is no visible app button (the one you hold in to see whats running)
When navigating you can press "options" to get a menu and then "diff. route". Could someone please explain what this "diff. route" is supposed to do? So far I have only noticed that it drops me from navigation mode to map mode.I am using OM 3.03 with a device without touch screen if that makes any difference.
Just want to mention that, allthough it is free (which is great), the route calculation in Ovi Maps is pretty bad in the Netherlands. It often leads me to a destination in a totally inefficient way.I've compared those routes with solutions like Sygic and Google Maps and they DO direct me much more efficiently so there is a lot to improve there I guess.(Not to mention those times when Ovi Maps tells me to turn around on the speedway when I drive a little bit too the right or left.
Was trying the Ovi maps on the 5800 today in the car, had full strength GPS with no network support. I set it to navigate me home but it kept coming up with the message 'No Route Data'. I have the full UK map installed & it has worked fine all the other times I have tried it out. Still new to Ovi so not to sure what to try.All latest firmware updates installed & latest maps (not beta)
Routing still needs improvement. It is taking me through wrong routes again. I thought this version will be like the routes of navteq.com but nothing changed. Still calculating wrong routes. Only navteq.com gives good routes, otherwise navigating using Nokia Maps is useless, Nokia is behind all its competitors of GPS devices. this is why I have Tomtom.
Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition Firmware: 31.2.101 RM-428 TomTom Go 720 Ohio, USA.
I have been using TOM TOM navigator for years but have just got an X6 with OVI maps and am trying to convert! Everything seems straightforward but Is there a way to view the details of the planned route in a text format? I have clicked drive and selected a destination from home, it is all set up to take me there but how do I see the route it wants to take me? Is this possible and if so how? I have sort of worked out that you can flip through a map of the route but can you get a turn by turn summary of the route?
I've called around to all the nearby Apple stores and checked with my local AT&T store, no one has the bumpers in stock. Do you guys think I'll have luck within the next couple of days if I check with the stores each morning? Ordering on Apple.com has a 5-7 day wait and I'm hoping not to have to wait that long, because I am having some antenna issues and I'm deathly afraid of dropping the thing.
BT eats batteries fast in all devices. I like the flashing blue light to let me know it's on when I want it on. Is there a faster way then me going into options, blue tooth, and disabling BT from there? I have a BT icon and when I choose disconnect from there, it seems to just disconnect the device, but leaves BT enabled.
How to re-route navigation easily (should do it automatically) in Maps? Scenario: 1. Set target address and let Maps calculate route. so far, so good 2. Start driving. As long as you stay "on route",things are ok 3. You notice that Maps route is not optimal and start driving your own route. Maps does not care. 4. In order to re-calculate route from your current GPS position to same target address. Maps UI gets very clumsy. First you need clear the map, re-enter the target address (well..luckily it's still in search window), ask to Maps to re-route. While doing all this, your car is prob. out of the road already. Why Maps doesn't re-calculate the route automatically when it detects that the GPS position is well "off-the-route". My friend was using his iPhone 3GS + navigation. It did the thing as expected.is this common behaviour of Nokia Maps, or just the N900 version that lags well behind other versions.
I have loaded Ovi Maps 3.03 on my N86 and all seems to be working with the exception that there is no Align Map to Route selection, only default operation of Align Map North. I always used Align Map to Route in the older versions when not navigating and prefer this to always having maps align to north. I found that the compass always starts off and to turn the compass on I need to press the 5 key (the Align map north key) to turn Align to North off and enabe the compass, but this doesn't help when in a car as the compass does not function correctly in a car.Is anyone else seeing the same issues on other phones or is this just an issue with the N86 for which Maps 3.03 isn't released yet?I certainly hope future versions allow for a default selection of either Align Maps North or Align Maps to Route (when not navigating) as well as a seperate selection for defaulting (and selecting) Compass On or Compass Off.
I've just bought a Nokia 5800 and downloaded the latest version of Ovi Maps. I'd rather use this in offline mode, and it works well about 60% of the time. But quite often I get the error "route not found" when I try and set a route. The only way round this is to go online, and then a route can always be found.Having looked on the web I see a lot of people are having this problem but I haven't found a definitve fix yet. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling but the problem persists.
I created a route with a starting point somewhere else as my current location. When I drive tot the starting point and press "start navigation" and pass the starting point, maps tells me to turn around. What am I doing wrong? It seems like I kind of stopover? How do I skip and tell maps I want to continue on the route? Will I have the same problem as I force maps to follow certain navigation points on the route(when I plan a holiday trip)?
I've installed ver 3.03 and maps to my memory card. I've discoverd that if I'm offline I can only drive to a location within about 1 mile. Above that I get a "route not found". I dont get this problem selecting walk. If I configure the application to be on-line then I can create a drive of any length.I've tried removing the application and maps and then reinstalling but get the same problem.
Yesterday I had some curious experiences with my n97 and nokia maps 3.01.After I heard on the radio station, that on my route is high traffic i decided myself to choose an other driving route. Short time after I passed the exit i had orgrinally to enter, nokia maps recalculated a new route for me. So far everything works fine. Nokia maps send me now to the next exit of the highway. Here I should have done a u-turn. In my oppinion it made no sense to drive the way back to the originally exit, because the driving distance was twice as much as from the point of the u-turn? I think there is a buck in nokia maps regarding that point.Another thing which made my curious was, that after the recalculation, nokia maps tried to send me all the time on opposite site the highway enter. If anyone knows something about this points let me know.
I installed Nokia Navigation 2.0 with some maps on my Lumia phone. But how can I find out the version of the installed maps? And how can I check the actual existing version of the maps on the Nokia server?
