I've installed ver 3.03 and maps to my memory card. I've discoverd that if I'm offline I can only drive to a location within about 1 mile. Above that I get a "route not found". I dont get this problem selecting walk. If I configure the application to be on-line then I can create a drive of any length.I've tried removing the application and maps and then reinstalling but get the same problem.
View 32 RepliesI've just bought a Nokia 5800 and downloaded the latest version of Ovi Maps. I'd rather use this in offline mode, and it works well about 60% of the time. But quite often I get the error "route not found" when I try and set a route. The only way round this is to go online, and then a route can always be found.Having looked on the web I see a lot of people are having this problem but I haven't found a definitve fix yet. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling but the problem persists.

For me it just says "Turn right in 1 mile" .. no street name! It would be very helpful if this feature was included. Am I missing something on how to enable text to speech so that it speaks street names?

I set it to navigate me home but it kept coming up with the message 'No Route Data'. I have the full UK map installed & it has worked fine all the other times I have tried it out. View 5 Replies View RelatedJust want to mention that, allthough it is free (which is great), the route calculation in Ovi Maps is pretty bad in the Netherlands. It often leads me to a destination in a totally inefficient way.I've compared those routes with solutions like Sygic and Google Maps and they DO direct me much more efficiently so there is a lot to improve there I guess.(Not to mention those times when Ovi Maps tells me to turn around on the speedway when I drive a little bit too the right or left.

Scenario:
1. Set target address and let Maps calculate route. so far, so good
2. Start driving. As long as you stay "on route",things are ok
3. You notice that Maps route is not optimal and start driving your own route. Maps does not care.
4. In order to re-calculate route from your current GPS position to same target address. Maps UI gets very clumsy. First you need clear the map, re-enter the target address (well..luckily it's still in search window), ask to Maps to re-route. While doing all this, your car is prob. out of the road already.Why Maps doesn't re-calculate the route automatically when it detects that the GPS position is well "off-the-route". My friend was using his iPhone 3GS + navigation. It did the thing as expected.is this common behaviour of Nokia Maps, or just the N900 version that lags well behind other versions.
Yesterday I had some curious experiences with my n97 and nokia maps 3.01.After I heard on the radio station, that on my route is high traffic i decided myself to choose an other driving route. Short time after I passed the exit i had orgrinally to enter, nokia maps recalculated a new route for me. So far everything works fine. Nokia maps send me now to the next exit of the highway. Here I should have done a u-turn. In my oppinion it made no sense to drive the way back to the originally exit, because the driving distance was twice as much as from the point of the u-turn? I think there is a buck in nokia maps regarding that point.Another thing which made my curious was, that after the recalculation, nokia maps tried to send me all the time on opposite site the highway enter.If anyone knows something about this points let me know.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA question on "route planning": If I want to drive/walk from point A to C via B, using Maps 3.03 (on an E52), how is that accomplished? Note: with the phone alone, without syncing with Ovi Maps.If "A" is my current destination, it's easy to set "C" (set destination) and be on the road right away. But, if I want to add a new route point "B", I only get the option to add a "category" close by and NOT a favorite or a location by search or history. Actually, pretty useless, if you plan to drive from Paris to Berlin via Amsterdam, to mention one theoretical example.I have noted that many people look for this, however, I found no good answers. If not available in Maps 3.03,any inkling if/when this may be added? The simple answer is, of course, to plan two routes rather than one "via" route.
View 12 Replies View RelatedRe-viewing a planned route with manual scrolling and zooming on the phone was possible in Maps 2.0 and was taken out in Maps 3.0x. In Maps 3.03 you can only zoom to the geographical center of the route (which is useless). You may jump from turn to turn, but you cannot scroll in the zoomed route, let alone add a route point.So my question goes to the people who are already using Ovi Maps 3.04:Is it possible again to zoom/scroll in the preview of a planned route?Is it possible to "edit" a planned route on the phone by adding or removing route points from the preview?IMHO, regarding a mobile navigation application, manually scrolling, zooming and editing a planned route are exactly what make a smartphone into a smart phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI planed a route on the Nokia Maps site with a couple of waypoints and some options (no toll roads, no motorways) to get it the way I wanted.
Then I did the synchronization of favorites on the phone and the route was there. But when I tried to open the route on the phone the "Calculating route" message appears and the route that shows up is COMPLETELY different from the one on the Nokia Maps: different roads, strange ways to get to the waypoints, ... In short I can not use this route on the phone as I would like.
Is there a way to transfer complete route AS IS from Nokia Maps to the phone Maps application?
I have a C6-01 and I noticed that when Nokia Maps 3.09 is online, route calculating is irritating slow. Why is that? I cannot think of any reason for that, since Nokia Maps is set to ignore traffic infoI also have Garmin Mobile XT on my phone, and as Nokia Maps 3.09, it only has the map data for the South Brazil region. Both maps have similar size. If Nokia Maps is set to go online, it is way slower on route calculation than Garmin Mobile XT is. don't understand why Nokia Maps 3.09, being a state of art nav system, developed specifically for Nokia Belle, is so beaten by the humble Garmin Mobile XT, which is an outdated system, developed for Linux in the first place !lso, I learned from my experience with Nokia Maps 3.09 that route calculating time is dependent on the amount of maps loaded on the phone. I have prepared a route, on Nokia Maps online, which has 22 waypoints plus the start and end point (that's the maximum number of points Nokia Maps online supports). It's a very long route in Brazil: 8.340 Km long. As the route is saved to my Favorites, I can easily see it on any browser when I click on the corresponding favorite name.
But I simply cannot share this route, and I'm very sad about it, because I prepared the route with the intention to share it. When I click on the route's share icon on my Favourites and paste the short link to the browser, I get the errror: "Oops, something went wrong. Please come back later.". This happens on any PC web browser.
Here's the short URL I'm supposed to use for sharing this route: What's going on here? It seems to be a bug of Nokia Maps code or a bug of the URL shortener. I suspect the most on the URL shortenere, as the route has 24 waypoints. But then again, if Maps supports routes with 24 waypoints, the URL shortener should also support it.
If there's any Nokia representative here, could I have a way of contating the support theme in order to follow this up?
I've attached a screenshot of the route on the map, as there's no sensitive data on it.
First of all I think that there is a lot confusing with the names of the things in OVI:
1) OviSuite is a program to synchronizing some things and download Maps.
2) Ovi Maps is a program that runs in the 5230 to do navigation and synchronization of maps
3) MapsOvi is a site in the Internet, to create and synchronize favorites and Routes.
I make a little basic test with the Maps for OVI Site and my 5230 and after creating some favorites places and routes in the Internet Site, I can not find a button to save and make the transfer of routes and favorites from the Map Ovi suite to my phone, using Bluetooth or USB cable.
There is a way to make the transfer directly from my PC to the 5230, using a USB cable or Bluetooth? Or the only way to transfer the favorites and routes created on the Maps Ovi to the phone is the real time synchronization of both, using the Internet connection on the way of my phone and spending a lot of $$$ to do this?
if i try to search using the browse function, i keep getting for any section is "no results found" is there server down or something cause it was working fine the other day.
View 18 Replies View Relatedi have since transferred a bunch of music from my PC to my phone. however, only about 10% of all albums were able to automatically include the album art. alternatively, i had to manually add the album art for each album - provided if the album art could be found in the gallery. what's curious is that, when connected by usb to my PC, and because adobe photo starter pops up by default for any connected media device of mine, i could see that the album art images, which could not be found in the gallery (and hence unable to be manually added), were very well present somewhere in my phone. clearly, i have trouble locating them. furthermore, whenever i delete an album art image from my gallery, i can kiss the said album art goodbye from the album/music app too. my questions are:
1) where are the album art images which are floating somewhere in my phone/memory card ie. how can i locate them?...........
I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps:
1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
I would appreciate your help to identify the maps I have installed in my Nokia N97 mini. Through the Nokia Map Loader was not possible. Can you guys please help me?

Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take.Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working
