I have a Nokia 5800 XM and am trying to update to the latest version of maps. I go to Ovi store and select the download but it only offers me the opotion of LAUNCH or SEND TO FRIEND. if i select launch it says File Not Found
View 5 RepliesI've installed ver 3.03 and maps to my memory card. I've discoverd that if I'm offline I can only drive to a location within about 1 mile. Above that I get a "route not found". I dont get this problem selecting walk. If I configure the application to be on-line then I can create a drive of any length.I've tried removing the application and maps and then reinstalling but get the same problem.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a Nokia 5800 and downloaded the latest version of Ovi Maps. I'd rather use this in offline mode, and it works well about 60% of the time. But quite often I get the error "route not found" when I try and set a route. The only way round this is to go online, and then a route can always be found.Having looked on the web I see a lot of people are having this problem but I haven't found a definitve fix yet. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling but the problem persists.
View 13 Replies View Relatedi have since transferred a bunch of music from my PC to my phone. however, only about 10% of all albums were able to automatically include the album art. alternatively, i had to manually add the album art for each album - provided if the album art could be found in the gallery. what's curious is that, when connected by usb to my PC, and because adobe photo starter pops up by default for any connected media device of mine, i could see that the album art images, which could not be found in the gallery (and hence unable to be manually added), were very well present somewhere in my phone. clearly, i have trouble locating them. furthermore, whenever i delete an album art image from my gallery, i can kiss the said album art goodbye from the album/music app too. my questions are:
1) where are the album art images which are floating somewhere in my phone/memory card ie. how can i locate them?...........
I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps:
1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
I would appreciate your help to identify the maps I have installed in my Nokia N97 mini. Through the Nokia Map Loader was not possible. Can you guys please help me?

View 5 Replies View Related1 - Not all n900 applications i find on the net are searchable or listed at all on the n900s built in application downloader. some files i download manually off the net are in gz and deb format. do i need to install the nokia pc software and transfer them to the phone in order to use them, as i cannot find any other way to do it? from using google there are an awful lot of users saying the nokia software does not work very well at the moment and to avoid using it until its fully adapted for the n900, as some features are supposedly unusable?
2 - is there an easy file unzip program for the n900, hopefully easily found within the n900s application downloader? i tried searching for 'zip' and 'unzip' but nothing crops up
Can anyone help.... Nokia 5800 with latest firmware v40.. Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take.Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working

View 5 Replies View RelatedIf you ever wondered why you can't install Maps for E75 using the file nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.2_lm_rom.SIS, which is distributed at: Nokia Europe - Maps - Compatibility & download page, it's because the file is seriously corrupted.
According to SymbianOSv9.x SIS File Format Specification, the first 4 bytes of a SIS file must always be 0x10201A7A. Surprisingly this particular file starts with 0x0055E805 and contains 161 bytes of random data in front of a byte sequence that appears to be the correct identification header. Way to go Nokia! Who knows what else is broken in that file?
I have an E71, with both the firmware and Ovi Suite fully up to date. I am trying to install the latest Ovi Maps Software, according to the instructions:
Download Maps to your desktop or an easily accessible folder on your computer.
done - nokia_maps_3.03_10wk11_b04_s60_3.1_rom.Nocs is downloaded to desktop
Install Maps using Nokia Ovi Suite e.g. double click on the Maps installer file. Finish the installation on your mobile. When I double click (with Ovi Suite open), windows cannot detect which program with which to open the software. I cannot see any option in Ovi Suite to open the software either. Have I missed something? Apologies if this is a obvious problem - I have searched and found related problems, but none of the fixes I have tried have worked. I've have tried going through the Ovi store on my phone, but when trying to login, I get a 'resource does not exist' message.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe GPS feature and Nokia Maps icon in the menu would suggest that the Nokia 5800 supports maps. My aim is to transfer maps onto the phone's memory card so I will not require an internet connection to use the feature. In Nokia PC Suite, clicking Maps takes me to a page that tells me to download Nokia Ovi Suite. I won't bore you with a rant on how bad my experience Ovi Suite is (it is terrible), but the end result is that clicking download on a map appears to transfer it to the phone, but no maps appear on the phone.
I recall there used to be a separate piece of software that allowed downloading and transferring of maps, but I cannot find it. Nokia appear to have removed it from the website, which is a shame, because it worked.
Is there a piece of software that is able to transfer maps to the 5800. Failing that, is there a way to transfer maps manually?
Just installed the free ovi maps on my 5800. The maps are out of date. My estate was built in 2001 and doesn't show on the maps. I also have Google maps on my 5800 and maps and photo of my estate are there. Even my 3 year old navman in-car shows my estate. Mmmm free and oout of date. I'll stick to Google maps.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI updated my Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic firmware to the latest version yesterday and I also installed the latest Ovi maps through Ovi Suite and everything installed successfully. However, when I go to maps on my phone, the GPS and satellites are working fine, but I can not see any maps appearing on my phone - just a grey/pale green background appears instead of the maps. Only if I zoom all the way out, then the world globe starts to appear, and then disappears as I try to zoom back in.

So far i see there is a map on my device. It based on v3.01 09 and map ver 0.1.22.103. In order to use free Ovi maps so i need Ovi maps ver 3.03. These are some of my questions.
1.How to update my old Ovi maps to the new ver 3.03 through PC?
2.As iīve read some of the thread regarding Ovi mapsthat in some case i maybe have to uninstall the old version. But when i check it through Application manager i couldnīt find neither ovi maps or nokia map but there is an Ovi store client in there.
3.Off topic. I wonder why when i start my fone sometimes some of the pictures in the contacts bar is not really in phocus? any suggestion?

View 13 Replies View Relatedthere are few things that should be better, for instance I can't use Ovi Suite as it doesn't support synch with Lotus Notes yet, so I still use PC Suite. Now I'm becoming crazy and maybe someone can give me some explanation. I tried to download the maps with the Map Loader, I can see on the left part of the window a lot of maps, but I do not se any info on which map is already installed ! Is it normal? And moreover, I'm not convinced by the amount of memory left on my SD card, the map loader show an amount and Windows a competely different.. who's lying?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a nokia 5800 version 31.0.101 when I go to OVI maps no map is loaded the GPS works but the maps do not its all green, I can zoom out and see the world but if I zoom in there's nothing, it was working for my local area but I could not search or see anywhere else, I traveled 100 miles yesterday from where I lived but the map never loaded when I got there either.Today I have reinstalled the latest maps, (over written) that didn't work in fact I lost the local area now too. I then did a hard reset still no maps ,I installed the navigation maps from OVI. it updated the options to navigation but still no maps, so I am now at a loss I hope someone can help

View 4 Replies View Relatedi discovered an oddly-named folder in one of my music folders, and i attempted to delete it both on file manager and on my pc through 'mass storage' connectivity but could not manage to due to its corrupted state.
i also suspect that the corrupted folder/file is the reason to the failed transfer of some tracks from ovi player to my device, and sudden disapperance of some tracks. does anyone know how i may go about removing it in its entirety from my memory card?
First off, let me apologize in advance if what I'm about to ask has already been answered (I did a search, but I didn't find anything helpful)OK, so I got a new shiny N95, updated firmware to 31.0.015, installed OVI maps 3.0, so on and so forth. The phone works fine, but I'm having some problems with the maps.
Whenever I try to search for an address I get a (very) brief "searching online" progress bar, but every time I get "no results found", regardless if I'm searching for a full address or just a city.
I have firmware ver 31.0.101 and I had OVI maps with navigation which worked for a couple of time then the GPS would not lock on even when I was outside with no obstructions and a friends 5800 locked on with no problem, yesterday I hard reset the phone and the GPS worked fine but I had to reinstall OVI maps and we are back to the GPS not locking on.
