View 7 RepliesI got the Nokia e63 in April 2010. One of the things I did first was:
1. Update Ovi Store app on the phone
2. Ran Nokia Maps on the phone (applicaiton already on the phone) or downloaded Ovi Maps from the Ovi Store - cant remember.
3. Regardless of how I did (2) I managed to install country maps for specific areas (US New York, UK etc) by using Ovi PC Suite
So all ok so far. Now I started putting more applications and games on the phone but it kept getting slower and slower - to a point it would not render the screen properly or mix two screens into one. I have a 2 gig memory card in it with only less than 20% in use - the phone memory had over 80Meg free. So really could not understand why it performed so badly. Anyway I spent several hours resetting the phoning and doing all the above again - but OVi Maps does not install any more (I get Installation Failed message).
To add more headache - the internet was very slow and I had to attempt several times to update Ovi Store after each reset - finally gave up and had to use a WLAN connection. When I go to the Ovi Store web site on my pc and find Ovi Maps - there is now a message saying its not available for e63. Yet that was not what I recall because I have installed Ovi Maps on the phone before and installed the additional country maps on several occassions (the last one being as recent as May 2010 - last month) All of a sudden Ovi Maps is not compatible with the Nokia E63? The Ovi Store app on the phone gives no indication of compatibilty issue with the phone - so you can keep downloading it and using up your internet allowance and it keeps failing to install without giving any useful message.
I can not update the maps ovi 3.04 because fault in installation of new software (error number 5)This happens after updating v 50 in NOKIA 5800.

I recently bought my Nokia 5230 and it came with the programm Nokia Maps (Version 3.03 (246)) installed on "C Telephone memory" using 9MB there. Then Nokia gladly announced "free world voice guided car navigation". In order to get this free car navigation I followed the Nokia instructions on the internetpage and installed Ovi maps (Version 3.03 (246)) which is now in "D Telephone memory" using 7 MB there.(That is the information shown when I look into the details of my installed programms.I then loaded the necessary maps and the voice file with Nokia Map Loader from my computer into my micro SD card (E) . Navigation is working extremely well! But: What is "D Telephone Memory"? According to the filemanager of my phone no D exists! More important: May I safely deinstall the preinstalled Nokia maps now that I have Ovi maps installed? phone is set to german and the designations above are translations into english and may not correspond exactly to the english designations of Nokia phones set to english.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust when I think the E75 cannot get any worse (it has slightly worse reception than 2 tin cans and a bit of wet string!!), Nokia send me a OS upgrade that will "result in improved performance"! Tragically, it continuously comes up with the great message "Installation failed due to lost connectivity; do not disconnect USB connection during installation"! Now, whilst I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, even I can see that disconnecting the cable would not be condusive to a successful software upgrade, so of course I am not doing that! I am about to wind the clock back over 10 years and resort to my trusty 6150.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some weeks now im getting "installation fails" message when trying to install some of the software from OVI or from downloaded files. For example, Nokia Sleeping Screen. It downloads and the Ovi bar says "installing" then a smaller window appear in the lower section of the screen saying "preparing installation" then "Installing" then after a few seconds "installation Failed. Some apps for example Spotify installs perfectly, but here the bottom window don't appear at all. I have made a full reset, problem remains. I did a 3 finger reset, problem remains.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI cannot begin to tell you the frustrating experience I have had trying to load Ovi Maps 3.03 onto my N97. Suffice it to say that every step of the way has been a painful experience that has seriously threatened my loyalty to a brand that I have always been loyal to. I'm still not there yet. Having followed instructions and loaded the latest version of firmware (20.0.019) via my PC, the automatic loading software then loaded version 3.01 of Ovi Maps (WHY wasn't 3.03 loaded? - it's the latest version!). I proceeded to the Software Updater app on my PC to upload the latest version (3.03). It did recognize the latest version and proceeded to download the software to my PC for installation onto my phone. During the upgrade to my phone, the installation failed and a message appeared "Installation failed 6:19".
I tried to install again, but using the updater app on my PC, it doesn't recognize the need for an upgrade to 3.03 (does it think the upgrade has worked?). Back to my phone to try using the software updater app installed there. It does recognize the fact that a later version of Ovi Maps is available and allows me to try and install it, and a message appears "Installing Ovi Maps with free navigation (1 of 1)", however seconds later another message appears "Result: 1 update failed View update history". Clicking on the View bit helpfully takes me to the log, which unhelpfully shows the message "Ovi Maps with free navigation Installation failed at 6:25" and NO OTHER information about why the installation failed or what to do to recover it. So now I am stuck with an updater on the PC which doesn't recognize the need to do an update and an updater on the phone, which does recognize the need, but fails EVERY time.
I'm using Nokia 5233 and getting "installation failed" error every time i download any game from Ovi store. I have done hard reset and soft reset for phone thinking it would fix this but all in vain.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince I installed this update when an alarm goes off I can't turn it off. The fancy new Stop/Snooze buttons displayed (which pulse from left to right) when the alarm goes off don't respond to touch. I have tried a hardware reset, no improvement. I really am a symbian fan but this phone is much more buggy than it should be. Each new update seems to add new bugs as well as fixes. For example, I have also, with this update, lost the 'alphanumeric' option for typing this text

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps:
1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
I wanted to download a calculator from Ovti and install it on my 5800 memory card . The link was sent to my phone and after being connected I said Yes to download and install . View 2 Replies View RelatedLooking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
I've been trying without success to install the new firmware update. I've tried re-installing using the Nokia Software Updater, but kept getting Device Recovery errors and the phone turned off and lost its connection. After reading other posts, I did a soft reset on my phone then re-installed the firmware without anymore However, now the phone WON'T TURN ON AT ALL! When I press and hold the Power On/Off button on the top, it makes a buzzing sound, but the screen stays dark and doesn't turn on. Before you ask, the phone battery was fully charged. My 58000 is totally unusuable. How do I get it to power on?
