Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
I my dad recently bought the Nokia N8 after playing about with mine, I recieved the phone unlocked and set about setting it up for him, though i'm having foul problems with the maps! i've installed them, re-installed them, uninstalled and then reinstalled again and no luck, there wasn't even a Maps icon any time it was installed, but on my Nokia N8 when it was installed if went straight onto my home screen? how can I finally download these maps to this phone for my dad? he's starting to become really impatient because he needs to use the maps for his job

1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?

I been reading back and forth for 2½ hours now searching for the MAP download to put on my memory card.But I cant find any link etc that get me to download the entire Swedish map (so I can use the GPS without internet connection) Or isnt that possible with this free service anymore ? 2. Once the installed maps are read from the phone, Ovi tells me that 'Updated maps are available'. Clicking on this message Ovi the pointer changes to a combined left-right arrow and stays there.
3. Now Ovi goes and reads the phone again, looking for installed maps - this time it takes LONGER, before I have the option to update my maps. This process of course takes forever too, but at least this is understandable - loading large files takes time.
4. I have the maps of the US; Canada; UK Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland installed. Which one(s) will be updated?
5. Also I am back from Europe, I no longer need the Irish maps. Why can't I selectively delete/de-install them? Why do I have to delete ALL maps and reload the US and Canada?

I have downloaded the mapsinstaller and installed it on my phone using PC-suite.I got the blue worldmap menu on my phone, but when I tries to check my position I only get a red dot on a blank screen and my GPS position, no maps.After I have downloaded the mapinstaller, must I download maps from somewhere else? Should I use the phone or the PC(PC suite to download maps? View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed the Ovi Suite on my PC, connected my E71. That worked. Then downloaded Ovi Maps. It just places it on my desktop but doesn't do anything with it. So I decided to copy that file to my phone (mem card), and hit Install on the nokia_maps_3.03_10wk11_b04_s60_3.1_rom.Nocs.sis under App. Manager. It does lots of things that you would expect when something is installing, but then it ends. The application still says Not Installed, and there is no trace of the installed application anywhere else. When I then go into the Ovi Suite it doesn't tell or show anything remotely related to installing the app of cards, while I though a Maps Installer would kick in. Just tells me it's not installed and redirects me to this site for online surveys and online surveys.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the N97, to be honest i'm starting to regret buying it as it appears to be one prolem after another. Anyway this problem surrounds the new maps 3.03 with free voice navigation that has been released. I have installed it numerous times but it starts for 20 seconds then switches back to the menu screen. I have uninstalled maps, done a factory restore on the phone and reistalled the operating system all to no avail. Is there anything else that can be done. I am in Ireland.

Although there is still some functionality at "macro" level (I can see towns and major roads), as soon as i try to get down to streetlevel it all goes "blank".I tried to remove the installed software to start again, but clearly i mustn't be able to remove everything and files must be hidden somewhere as the application is still there.what can I do?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI installed some maps and Voices on my Nokia N97 mini using Ovi maps 3.03. The installed Voices can be shown within the app (Navigation setup,installed Voices are marked). But I cannot check if the maps I downloaded are installed properly! I tried to check with Noia Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1 and it says "No maps installed". Same problem with Nokia Maps loader 3.0.24.0. It's no matter if I install the maps using Map Loader or Ovi Suite -> same problem. Well, I installed the maps on External Memory Card - but this should not be the problem?!

It is the 3.01 version. I have tried to down load the 3.04 version and it says that it is installed.

1) I download a particular maps using OVI suite. Next time when I connect my device, it does not show the installed maps.
2) There is no way to see if update to downloaded maps are available.
3) Message sync is a bit wierd. Why are there still message on OVI suite that I already deleted on my phone.
4) When I read a message using OVI suite, the indicator light on E72 still flashes.
5) Why is there an option, contact in mobile and contact on OVI, should it be same......................

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm Nokia 808 smartphone owner running latest officially available firmware but as to the Nokia Maps version i'm still using Maps v3.09 12wk09 b05 while lots of people around already have Maps v3.09 12 wk20 b01installed.The problem is to figure out how to update my current Maps to the latest version. Neither Nokia suite nor built-in device manager can see any update available, Nokia store still offers Maps v3.09 12wk09 b05 bundled into Nokia maps suite.
View 2 Replies View Relateda few days ago, I installed the map of Argentina and Chile on my C6-01 Belle, trough Nokia Suite 3.4.35. Those maps seems to be uncomplete, since as I browse the maps on Nokia Maps 3.09, the phone starts downloading the specific part of the maps I want to ses. Also, when I set Maps 3.09 offline, I cannot see parts of the maps.I tried to delete all maps from my C6-01 and downloading them again directly from the phone. Maps 3.09 refuses to download maps and gives me the error "unrecoverable download error'. Of course when I did that, I was connected to my home wifi.So, after all maps were removed from the phone, I installed them again through Nokia Suite, but that didn't solved the issue. Still my phone keeps donwloading parts of the maps as I browse them.

Previously, Nokia Maps had started taking *forever* to get a fix (actually probably wasn't ever going to), and I insanely tried to 'improve' the application to Ovi maps when looking for a solution. It installs fine (twice), but will not load past about 30%. Hangs the entire phone. I removed a cities folder. No good. I can't find maps as an application to uninstall.
Context: Nokia software works pathetically badly on my Vista computer. Ovi fails repeatedly (grays out), software updater loads but has never worked, some Nokia software is slowing booting and closing of the computer etc. And the phone usually has to install drivers each time it is plugged in, despite this happening many times before.
Can anyone help.... Nokia 5800 with latest firmware v40.. Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take.Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working

1. Can I see what country maps I have downloaded & saved on my N97 anywhere?
2. Whenever I went on the internet with my N95, I had a option how I wished to connect - my netgear router or Mobile web etc.
With N97, It chooses which one I have set on priority, but sometimes I dont want that one. Can I have it so that it asks me everytime I connect like N95?
