I have the latest firmware installed on my phone and i also have the latest version of ovi maps installed.But it does not want to connect online.I have both free wap with o2 and also have wireless connections available at both home and work.but it will not connect, everytime i try it says there is a problem connection not working or something to that effect.i have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, but still it wont work.
View 4 RepliesI've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps:
1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
I have a Nokia 5800. I just upgraded today to the last version of the phone and maps. I have installed the ovi suite. All latest versions. From the Ovi I got the maps of Germany. Going to the Maps application I can see the maps, zooming in, out... looking for a location.
I want to work offline so in the options i have chosen only "Integrated GSP" (No a-GPS). But the problem I'm having is that the phone doesn't connect via the GPS antenna, the satellite icon is crossed out, the first bar of the signal yellow blinking and if i want to make a route to any location it says "waiting for GPS". I've been searching in the forum but i couldn't go further this point. It seems as i have the satellite signal deactivated.
I am having trouble connecting my 5800 to my windows 7 laptop using the 5800 usb cable. It was working, now it doesn't recognise it. I have tried setting back to factory default and I have installed the latest firmware on the phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone will connect to my WLAN at home for no apparent reason (as in I'm not using the any application which requires interweb) and when I get annoyed and disconnect from that because it is just EATING my battery it think "Jesus there's no internet connection" panics then connects via gprs or whatever. Now I turned off the email program because it is eating my battery constantly being connected and am having to charge it every night! But is there any way of making it so that it only connects when the program is open? Any thoughts?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy 5800XM has stopped connecting to the internet.If I go to, say the Ovi Store, I get the frot page, but instead of going to the Store, it returns to the previous screen. The same happens with other websites, too. The phone usually asks how I wish to connect - WAP, wireless network and so on, but it is no longer doing so. I do hope I have just inadvertently changed a setting or something, as I have just got my phone back from being repaired, which took nearly 3 weeks.

Despite this, when I try using OVi maps, or even Google maps it will not connect to the internet.. "Connection Failed" Every time. It will ask me which connection to use - I select the connection I use for the internet and it does not work. I have also tried using the WAP connection which also, does not work!

Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take.Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was having trouble connecting my nokia 5800 as MTP device to my windows 7 machine. After reading some suggestions on the forum I removed my memory card and vola it recognized the nokia 5800 as MTP device installed all its drivers. I then used Latest OVI to sync music to my 5800.
After the sync when I try to refresh the music library, it just opens and the scanning window and closes it without adding any thing. Similarly if I try to set an image as the wallpaper when I click on image earlier it used to bring up the list of images on the memory card but now it is coming up blank. The firmware is V 4.0.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe GPS feature and Nokia Maps icon in the menu would suggest that the Nokia 5800 supports maps. My aim is to transfer maps onto the phone's memory card so I will not require an internet connection to use the feature. In Nokia PC Suite, clicking Maps takes me to a page that tells me to download Nokia Ovi Suite. I won't bore you with a rant on how bad my experience Ovi Suite is (it is terrible), but the end result is that clicking download on a map appears to transfer it to the phone, but no maps appear on the phone.
I recall there used to be a separate piece of software that allowed downloading and transferring of maps, but I cannot find it. Nokia appear to have removed it from the website, which is a shame, because it worked.
Is there a piece of software that is able to transfer maps to the 5800. Failing that, is there a way to transfer maps manually?
Just installed the free ovi maps on my 5800. The maps are out of date. My estate was built in 2001 and doesn't show on the maps. I also have Google maps on my 5800 and maps and photo of my estate are there. Even my 3 year old navman in-car shows my estate. Mmmm free and oout of date. I'll stick to Google maps.

However, when I go to maps on my phone, the GPS and satellites are working fine, but I can not see any maps appearing on my phone - just a grey/pale green background appears instead of the maps. Only if I zoom all the way out, then the world globe starts to appear, and then disappears as I try to zoom back in.

So far i see there is a map on my device. It based on v3.01 09 and map ver 0.1.22.103. In order to use free Ovi maps so i need Ovi maps ver 3.03. These are some of my questions.
1.How to update my old Ovi maps to the new ver 3.03 through PC?
2.As iīve read some of the thread regarding Ovi mapsthat in some case i maybe have to uninstall the old version. But when i check it through Application manager i couldnīt find neither ovi maps or nokia map but there is an Ovi store client in there.
3.Off topic. I wonder why when i start my fone sometimes some of the pictures in the contacts bar is not really in phocus? any suggestion?

View 13 Replies View Relatedthere are few things that should be better, for instance I can't use Ovi Suite as it doesn't support synch with Lotus Notes yet, so I still use PC Suite. Now I'm becoming crazy and maybe someone can give me some explanation. I tried to download the maps with the Map Loader, I can see on the left part of the window a lot of maps, but I do not se any info on which map is already installed ! Is it normal? And moreover, I'm not convinced by the amount of memory left on my SD card, the map loader show an amount and Windows a competely different.. who's lying?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a nokia 5800 version 31.0.101 when I go to OVI maps no map is loaded the GPS works but the maps do not its all green, I can zoom out and see the world but if I zoom in there's nothing, it was working for my local area but I could not search or see anywhere else, I traveled 100 miles yesterday from where I lived but the map never loaded when I got there either.Today I have reinstalled the latest maps, (over written) that didn't work in fact I lost the local area now too. I then did a hard reset still no maps ,I installed the navigation maps from OVI. it updated the options to navigation but still no maps, so I am now at a loss I hope someone can help
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have firmware ver 31.0.101 and I had OVI maps with navigation which worked for a couple of time then the GPS would not lock on even when I was outside with no obstructions and a friends 5800 locked on with no problem, yesterday I hard reset the phone and the GPS worked fine but I had to reinstall OVI maps and we are back to the GPS not locking on.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was very disappointed with the new version of ovi maps (with free voice guided navigation) due to the fact than the new version did not turn the map in the direction of travel. It turns while a route search is made, but not otherwise. Its was a cool feature which was available in ovi maps 3.0. In 3D mode this was really cool. I wonder why nokia scrapped this useful feature. Anyone had similar issues ?I own Nokia 5800XM, v40.0.005.
