Samsung :: Rant M540 - No Samsung Logo On Start Up Screen?
May 8, 2010I have a display problem with one of my two phone. When you power on the phone the Samsung logo appear and off after that but the phone boot up OK just don't have any on the screen, I can make call or receive OK. I disassemble both phones and swap the main board and find out that nothing wrong with the LCD Screen but the Main board. The phone have BK03 bin and I loaded with CB23 bin and it working good now.

Jul 15, 2010My wife I and I just receive brand new Verizon sealed in the box Samsung Omnia I910 phones [1 each]. After several years with Verizon we are really excited about starting new accounts with Page Plus. Can someone here help us set up these phones or at least point us in the right direction. We know next to nothing in this area. I am fairly good at building and servicing computers, but I have never done anything on a phone.
Here are some of my questions:
1. Can we get the GPS to work with Page plus on this Samsung Omnia I910? And if yes, how?
2. Can we get the Internet to work with Page plus on this Samsung Omnia I910? And if yes, how?
3. Can we get at least one of our Verizon phone numbers transferred over to Page Plus, and if yes, how?
4. Should we update our OS [I think it is Windows 6.1 Mobile Pro] and if so, how?
5. How do you recommend we set up this phone? Are there like any special tweaks or mods that are cool yet do not alter the stability of the phone?
6. Is Windows Mobile Pro 6.1 any good [we both had Windows Mobile 5 on our VX 6700's and it was ok, but often very slow and crashed a lot too at times]?
7. Could you please be nice to us [it is our very first time here and we are totally excited about setting these new Samsung Omnia i-910's up right the first time.

Jan 9, 2010I was wondering how to make the wallpaper for my rant work sideways and long ways, like, i have two wallpapers i made, one that is 176x220 and one 220x176 for the rant, and i want to apply both so they fill the screen when its closed and opened, how do i do this if its even possible, like the ones that came with the phone can do it.

Aug 12, 2010I'm so confused on here to add the proxy to my Rant. The model number is SPH-M540 I believe. All the guides that I see on how to get the free WAP internet online all say enter Username. When I go into ##3282# Under user name then edit and I enter my MSL code I get User NAI, MN-AAA Secret, MN-HA Secret, SPI MN-HA, SPI MN-AAA, Rev Tun Pref, Home Address, Primary HA IP and Second HA IP. None of those have anything with entering my user name or password that is need to be entered to connect to the proxy. I tried putting the Username in User NAI but that requires an e-mail not just a username. Please help. I have the phone currently on a sprint plan and I really doubt anyone there could or would tell me how to do this.

Jul 5, 2010I have been having an issue with the email app included on the Rant while trying to reply in QWERTY mode.
It tends to freeze, not allowing text entry to continue. The QWERTY keypad was one of the things that drew me to this phone, and the application I most need that keypad for is the email.
I tend to think it has something to do with a character limit, though that wouldn't really explain why I can close the keypad and revert to T9 to continue without it freezing.
How to fix this without giving up on the QWERTY keypad altogether?

Jul 3, 2010I am posting on my friend's behalf as she is having phone troubles that started yesterday out of nowhere. During the day she was making / receiving phone calls fine and noticed no problems with her phone. However in the evening she took a call and couldn't hear anything until she turned on speaker phone. Since then we have not been able to get any phone calls to come out of the normal earpiece, just from the speaker. It almost seems as though it is a weird setting or something as the phone seems to be aware of the problem. Whenever she answers a call now it is immediately set to speaker phone when she hits the button to accept the call. If we then turn off speaker we can no longer hear the caller. I looked through all the settings and can't find anything. She assures me she never dropped the phone between the last normal call and the first time she had the problem.

Jan 30, 2010I have a M540 and I am trying to transfer my contact list to a Yada YD-V22 hands free device. No matter what I have tried I haven't been able to do it. I keep getting stuck on downloading please wait. I have followed the instructions in the Yada manual, and there was no help in the Samsung manual. The device will answer the phone but there is no way I can voice dial from it. I have spent the last couple of hours trying to do this. Any help would be appreciated or the Yada goes back to the store where I bought it. With hands free being the law starting Monday in Ontario I would sure like to get it working.

Mar 19, 2012For reasons unknown, after shutting off my phone (I suppose it was a forced shutoff, since the webpage I was viewing had frozen), my Galaxy SII now refuses to go past the splash page/start-up screen, that says "SAMSUNG GALAXY SII". The text will display for about 5 seconds, then the screen will go black for about five seconds, then it will redisplay the text for five seconds, in a never-ending loop.
The phone will charge, and if I turn it off then plug it in I get the standard picture of a charging battery. If I plug the phone in my laptop, the laptop does not recognize that it is plugged in, though the phone does charge.
I've tried getting access to the recovery menu, but I can't seem to get to it - once I push the power button, it enters the splash page loop. The only thing that will end the loop is removing the battery.
I have no idea what I've done to force it into this loop, but it's extremely inconvenient.

This is returning from anything whether that be from an application or messaging or just going into the settings. I've timed it today and it takes 7 seconds to return. It doesnt matter whether i use the home button or use the back button , it still takes ages. When moving between other screens, the phone is its normal fast speed its just when it returns back to the home page.

Then, trying to follow another's step-by-step instructions, I'm still having trouble following along. Here's my step-by-step to the point that I get lost. Open Menu, tap Settings, tap Messaging, scroll down to Messaging Settings, tap Multimedia Message, tap MMS Profiles... and this is where it gets confusing for me. Whether I try to edit one of the preset profiles, or add my own, these are the lines I'm offered to work with:
editing the MEdia Net profile -
Set Name
Access Name
Auth Type
User ID
Password (user ID and PW aren't able to be edited in this profile)
Protocol (either HTTP or WAP)
Home URL
Proxy Address
Linger Time (sec.)
Advanced Settings
And in the Adv Settings, I have -
Static IP (to check, or unckeck, a box)
Local Phone IP (not highlighted, ie, able to be edited)
Static DNS (to check, or uncheck, a box)
Server 1
Server 2 (neither server lines are able to be edited in this profile)
Traffic Class (down arrow sellection, with Subscribed as the only selection available)
And in adding a new profile, everything that was previously unable to be edited, can now be: User ID, Password, Static IP #, and Servers 1 & 2 #'s. I've tried every combination of URLs that I could find:
