Samsung Galaxy S II :: Windows Can't Identify The Device Contact Hardware Manufacturer
Sep 4, 2012
Have just updated kies and when I plugged in my s2 am getting message, hardware id missing, windows cant identify the device contact hardware manufacturer. So now I cant connect to kies via usb.
I have an HTC Windows mobile and I now have the Samsung S5. I would like to transfer all my contacts to my new phone including photos etc. Is there a straight forward way to transfer all my data?
This thread is intented to raise a wide spread debate on whether the manufacturer should or shouldn't take a full responsibility upon such failure as N97. If there is any N97 owners, who know the law better than average consumer, he or she should speak up now! Nokia has misled all the customers, who have bought this imperfect product, by saying that "N97 is the most advanced mobile device ever seen". For this I consider my self and every one else, to be justifiable for a considerable compensation, for example when buying my next phone (WHICH ACTUALLY WORKS!!!)
Nokia has promised, that the next firmware release WILL make this phone to operate, as it was originally planned to do. They said more or less the same thing about v. 2.0, so, unfortunately, I have almost completely lost my trust in Nokia. Pulling the N97 out of market is an enormous draw back for Nokia, but I think this is the only way it can redeem itself and show to every one, that Nokia stands for quality!
I have Nokia 5800 phone, whose firmware I want to update to v40. But the latest NSU is not able to identify my phone. Whereas PC Suite and Ovi Suite will readily identify my phone. Ovi Suite' Software Update is able to detect it's firmware '30.0.011' whereas NSU cannot identify the phone itself. Product code of my phone is 0575590 and I want to update it to v40.
I have been trying to connect my s6 edge to win7 without luck. I have tried the following (solo and mixing some changes) :
upgrade to latest Kies3 install Smart Switch install Samsung USB driver change the PC USB port enable and disable the developers option enable and disable the USB debugging
all resulted in the PC to be charging the s6 edge battery.
I have a M540 and I am trying to transfer my contact list to a Yada YD-V22 hands free device. No matter what I have tried I haven't been able to do it. I keep getting stuck on downloading please wait. I have followed the instructions in the Yada manual, and there was no help in the Samsung manual. The device will answer the phone but there is no way I can voice dial from it. I have spent the last couple of hours trying to do this. Any help would be appreciated or the Yada goes back to the store where I bought it. With hands free being the law starting Monday in Ontario I would sure like to get it working.
my PC can't read it any more. When I plug it into the card reader, it is detected, but always with a message like "The disk in drive H: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?". The card seems to work fine in the phone, all the data is available. I didn't used to have this issue before, but I wouldn't be able to tell you off hand when I last used the card via card reader.
So my first guess was that some recent firmware upgrade may have changed the filesystem on the mem card. I downloaded the ext2/3 drivers from ext2fsd.com , but that didn't help either. I haven't yet had a chance to connect the phone via USB directly and explore the card that way, but it usually takes quite long to transfer files that way. So what can I try to get Windows to read the card? Is it a filesystem issue? Has anybody seen this before?I am running Android 4.0.3 on Samsung firmware (I9100DXLPA).
I have 'networked' my SGS2 to my Windows XP PC using 'ASTRO file manager' and the 'ASTRO SMB module' (both downloaded free on Market and obviously you need to be rooted too). With it I can access the Shared Folder on my desktop PC and just drag and drop files over. (Obviously you can just use Kies Air or plug in the USB cable, but I was bored so I Googled and fiddled).
This link shows a screenshot where to find the 'Network' icon on 'ASTRO file manager'.[URL]
This link (posts #28 and #29 in the thread) show the basic settings in ASTRO SMB...[URL]
My contact list seems to have automatically imported all of my email contacts from all 4 of my email accounts into my contact list. This makes it really cluttered, andc I'm not sure I really want any emails in there at all, let alone all my ones from 12 years ago.
just like to say that this is my very first post in this forum. I have been the proud owner of my Samsung Galaxy S II for the past week now. Couple of things to ask that is annoying me a bit though, and just wondering if there's a solution to these. Consider these scenarios:
First one: I receive a text from a friend who says that he has a new number. Because he's in my contacts, I can simply add his number to it. So I open the text, I press the menu key and tap "Add to Contacts". I then find him and tap his name. Usually it appears underneath the rest of the numbers, but because he has Facebook and I've selected to have my friends from there appear in my contacts, it doesn't. Apart from manually typing it in myself, is there a way to add his number?
Secondly: I play some music using the built-in music player (Applications > Music). Once the track starts playing, I press the back button continuously until I reach the home page/idle screen. To go back into it quickly, I pull down the status bar down from the top, and tap the Music panel. From here, how can I go back to a previous screen within the Music player to select a playlist, switch to a new artist, etc? The back button this time returns you to the home/idle screen. The list button just shows the current playlist that is being played. What would be good is to see that scrolling menu at the top again.
Every time I get a new SMS from someone on my contact list, and try to view their SMS it only shows the number of the person and not the name on the SMS list. When I search for the person on my list, and sms him/her it redirects to the conversation, but with the updated name instead of the number. However as soon as I get a new SMS it only shows the number once again.
I have joined my facebook, google, whatsapp and phone contacts. The problem starts when the display names are different.ow the phone has its own mind which contact name to display. I tried un-joining them and leave the name i want to be displayed "in this case PHONE and join them back again.his resolves the problem momentarily, but whenever I come back , its the same.his issue is also with Whatsapp connections, the contact name within whatsapp is apearing as per phone contact, but in joined view it displays from other accounts of the same person. This is very irritating.
When I go to my list of contacts, there is one contact that if I click on their name to see their number, then next to their number is a blue tick. And here is what happens when I add to reject list, for comparison:None of my other contacts have this blue tick. What does it mean?
I've been using the version of Android that came with my S2 for about a year. I use Keis and it managed to copy my Contacts and Schedule from my Office 2003 on my PC and it was fine on the S2.I upgraded to Android 4 this morning. The Schedule looks fine. The Contacts look fine apart from the fact that the Addresses read from bottom up - post code, town, street, house number.
my Samsung galaxy s6 was working on Friday morning around 6 AM then 2 hours later could not identify my fingerprint and was asking for a backup password.
I've started to get the "USB Device Not Recognized" error almost every time I connect my S2 to my laptop. This started happening after I flashed the phone with an official version of ICS 4.0.3. The installation went flawlessly, yet I am having a hard time having the phone recognize the computer.
I am new on android world and when i had iphone with ios, i selected custom vibrate pattern for VIP email contact, now i need to do this no my new Samsung s6 but i don't know how to do. I want that only 1 contact email will vibrate different from all others.
Don't have the new phone yet, but knowing one is symbian and the other android I want to make sure there's an easy way to do it since I have more than 300 phone numbers that I need to keep.
I need a hard copy of my contacts, or at least an electronic copy that i can access. I am preparing to turn in my phone and don't want to lose my data.
Using android devices i can print from any mobile device except for all Samsung tablets and mobile devices. I am using an S5 but cant get print to work.
just updated to ICS via Kies, (O2), but now I cannot see my phone on my PC.Getting the above error in device manager. I have re-installed the drivers twice?
When I try to make a call from my Samsung Galaxy 5, I click on the phone icon, it then gives me a message that my contacts have stopped. The message goes away and my phone goes back to home screen. I can't make any calls. I can receive a call and text. When I text the contact list comes up, but not when I try to make a call. Is there a setting I should look for that I may have accidentally overrode or deleted?
So yesterday I upgraded my SGS2 from Android 2.3 to the the Ice cream sandwich via kies. All went well except that now I can't see my contact pictures in third party applications. My contacts are all linked to Facebook so their pictures are all set to their Facebook profile pictures. Before the update, applications such as whatsapp and Handcent SMS automatically sync this information and the contact name and picture will be displayed. Now only the stock applications can display contact name and picture not any downloaded application.
