Samsung Galaxy S II :: Unable To Delete Application?
Jun 26, 2011
New to the forum and only had my phone for a couple of days. I'd like some help though. I have moved a couple of apps to my Home Screen and now want to delete it from "Applications" but when I go to Applications and long press the icon and drag it to the trash bin it doesn't delete.
I have set-up my email account using IMAP. I am using the IMAP path prefix of INBOX as I use on my old iPhone and on the email client on my laptop, but the Samsung email client does not seem to recognise it. When I delete an email it is reloaded the next time it sync with the server.
I am unable to download the mobile application meant for online booking of tickets. My gprs settings are fine. The message "this device cannot view this file " is displayed when I attempt the download. I am unable to check the windows update also for windows 6 on this phone.
my application (A.S.W.) on the android market has gotten several recent comments that it does not work on the Samsung Galaxy S2. I have been looking for an error in the application, have created an AVD using the S2 spec, but cannot recreate the error. Google Statistics tell me that there are 40+ users with the S2, however, I have gotten no crash/freeze reports from those users. At this point I am stuck and looking for some help to continue troubleshooting the problem, so I have come to this forum in hope of getting some detailed feedback on my applications performance on the S2. You can get the free app by searching the market, or the below link:[URL]Does the application freeze or crash? If so, when did it occur (starting a game, at the title screen, during game play, etc)what firmware are you using?
I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted). Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage. phone memory: 1.97Gb Applications: 647mb Free: 247mb USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully. I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card). So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory... 2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?! 3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
Now this is driving me insane. In Swype or normal text mode, whenever I attempt to delete the last word the whole word appears to the right of the cursor and it is not possible to remove it. Once the original has been deleted and its unwanted replacement is present in its place, I then tap to the right of the replacement word and delete it, and it replaces itself again. This makes text and email intelligible.
I got my galaxy s2 about a month ago, and it's not rooted When i go to delete SMS threads, the mesages are deleted but the 'shell' of the thread remains in the list of threads. This is whether I use the stock messaging app or GO SMS. I've also tried backing up my text messages, deleting them all, restarting the phone and then restoring the messages but it doesn't work. If I back up the messages and then delete them using SMS cleaner no messages are deleted (even after a phone restart) although SMS cleaner then says there are no messages to find when I try to repeat this step. The shell messages all have the date 1st Jan 1970. Is there a way to fix this without rooting my phone?
I am looking for an email app that has a "delete all" button, I get heaps of emails each day and I find it very tedious selecting every message before clicking delete, so an app that had a select all button or a delete all option would be great, or any solution to this with the stock e mail app.
I just shifted from iPhone to galaxy5, i transferred all the data via smart-switch. And I also tried Dropbox in new galaxy s5, all the photos are doubled. one is original and other one's are duplicate (few Kb's). I had around 900 photos from iPhone to new galaxy s5, but in Dropbox- total photos are around 1700. Is there anyway I can delete duplicate one's easily.
secondly, drop-box setting is "sync via WI-fi". even if i don't click any new picture or video, its still backing up every-time. at one point it says" up to date" after few hours it syncing again.
I am trying to extend battery life and kill some native apps. One that shows as a big battery drain is Geo News but I can't find the app to uninstall it. When I go to the Play Store it only gives me the option to install it. This is on my Galaxy S5 which I've had since November and the last couple of weeks I've been going through the battery huge. Trying to follow all the advice here to delete and disable, but so far not terribly successful.
I have a problem with 3G data usage - going way over. I've installed TrafficStats and can't see anything going over - I've been told that it could be my email being set up wrong but I can't find how to delete the account and start again
I'd like to completely clear my homescreen. When I delete all applications and widgets, the text 'Press and hold this page to add content' still appears. How to delete that text so the wallpaper will be unobstructed?
I have a Samsung Galaxy 5S and have email set up. In my trash folder it shows that I have 1345 items but when I click on trash I cannot see anything in that folder. I am suspecting that these are "junk" emails but how can I get rid of them. It is now telling me that there is not enough space so cannot view any other emails. how to see these "trash emails" so that I can delete them? All of my other email folders are empty.
The is another "feature" of the SG-II's built-in email app that infuriates me regularly:Each time when the mail app reloads emails from the server, it deletes all previous mails from the inbox (be they read or unread). Thus, if one accidentally triggers two reload/refreshes in sequence (or has automatic mail downloads enabled) this causes the unread mails from (an) earlier refresh(es) to be silently deleted and to "disappear", before one has a chance to read them! This happened already a couple of times to me and this is really insane
