Samsung Galaxy S II :: Connect It To Laptop To Use Internet?
Oct 5, 2011I have just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S2. I am unable to use the phones 3G services in my flat as there is no service or a very poor mobile phone service. I thought I could connect the phone to my laptop which is wired into broadband and use that. Any ideas on how to that ? The laptop is connected to a wired broadband service, there is no router.

Oct 13, 2015I will be in a hotel room that has a ethernet cable but no wifi so I like to connect my phone to the cable to access the internet . I have a USB2 OTG cable and a USB to RJ45 ethernet cable but when I connect it all up and try the web browser, the phone just say that it requires a Wi Fi connection.
I tried rooting the phone but keep getting a fail in Odin.

Went into my local VF shop and they said to check there has not been a never firmware update but Kies finds nothing. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Jul 26, 2012I am using Blackberry 9900 smartphone with OS version7.0 Bundle 1346 (V7.0.0.261, Platform 5.0.0.464)and i was initially able to connect to internet via apps and browser but after a while, i am unable to connect to internet via the application in the phone such as Facebook, Twitter, What's App and etc. I try 3G and wifi with no success but weird thing is i am still able to do web browsing via the blackberry native web browser. Have Google and found user with similar problem in the link [URL]The only way that i can able to use the app again is by taking out the battery and put it back to reboot the device. Then i will be able to use it for 5-8 hours where this problem will happen again.

Jun 8, 2011This is getting really anoying. From time to time, any of the apps I use (from the official Internet browser, to Foursqure, Opera Mini, Gmail, or any other that need Internet access for that matter) don't even give me the dialogue to chose an Internet connection. I just get a message: Unable to connect to Internet.
I'm pretty sure all my settings are ok, especially because this happens sometimes (from never per day to always per day/session) and there are no rules when it starts working again. Sometimes it needs a few phone restarts, sometimes it just need some time.
So basically, the applications don't try to evoke Internet access. Even if I already have a constant Wi-Fi connection, they still don't see it "or even try to do so by asking".

Jul 16, 2012I got some data package and all set up went fine. Nokia store and web browser are connecting just fine as well as some apps such as "QuickBeer", "News", "NokiaGoal", "Maps and Drive". However other apps, which I like to check quite often, such as "Bloomberg" and "Allaboutsymbian" do not connect while mobile data is ON. (they do only in WiFi)
Regarding software settings:
WAP services is my default connection.
Allow mobile data usage: Home country
Admin settings --> Mobile data connection: when needed
High speed packet access: Enable.
So everything works just fine but the mentioned apps above.

BB Curve 8300 :: Apps That Need To Connect To Internet / Except BB Browser
Jan 29, 2010I had downloaded Opera mini 4.2 and iheartradio and slacker radio and they all worked perfect for the past 3 days and then all of a sudden they do not work. I get timed out of logins and even google maps app on my phone wont connect. The only app that will connect to the internet is the BB browser (the one that looks like a globe with halo around it). There are no other apps running causing a clog up. There is 6.8GB open in memory, so im stumped????? Someone please help me Im racking my brain trying to figure out what would cause this. The last time it worked was in the morning listening to slacker, then went to lunch tried to get on Opera wouldn't connect, so i got on BB browser, from then on it wont connect with any other app.

Jun 27, 2012I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted). Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage.
phone memory: 1.97Gb
Applications: 647mb
Free: 247mb
USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully. I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card). So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory...
2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?!
3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.

I also don't want to set mobile data limits, or have to monitor mobile data usage. Oct 11, 2011I'm on 3 UK. When the phone shows that it has an HSPA signal (H or H+) I can connect to the internet (using the browser or a music streaming app for example). If the signal isn't HSPA then I lose internet access even when I still have a strong 3G signal. Has anyone else come across this with the SGS II or with other phones on 3 UK?

One great feature I used the "Internet Pass-Through" which is kinda the opposite of tethering, where I was able to get internet from my PC onto my phone at times when there was no wireless available so I had to plud a cable in my PC to get internet, then by connecting my phone to the PC via cable, I was able to use the PC's internet connection on my phone, which was great for down loading all my RSS feeds and so on.I've looked for this feature in my new SG S2 and could not find anything remotely like that. Is there a work around which can be done, or perhaps an app that does the same job?

For some reason i cannot connect to the mobile internet when the connection is showing 3g. It will only connect when it is showing H or H+.
Also for some strange reason, the internet connection wont work at all if i havent used it for a few hours. To get back internet you have to go to flight mode and back or switch off and on to get back online.

If I just exit the app by pressing the Home button it means that the next time I tap the Internet button it takes me immediately to the last page I was viewing. Surely that's wrong and there must be some way of closing the browser properly.
