Galaxy S5 :: Can Connect Samsung Phone To LAN Cable To Access Internet?
Oct 13, 2015
I will be in a hotel room that has a ethernet cable but no wifi so I like to connect my phone to the cable to access the internet . I have a USB2 OTG cable and a USB to RJ45 ethernet cable but when I connect it all up and try the web browser, the phone just say that it requires a Wi Fi connection.
I tried rooting the phone but keep getting a fail in Odin.
Version Android is 4.4.2
Phone model is SM-G900I
I have just done an update on my phone. Now it can't access the Internet and when I connect the USB cable it doesn't recognise the connection however, it does show the phone as recharging. Does anyone know if there is a problem with the upgrade or is unique to my service provider (Telstra) in Australia?
For some reason i cannot connect to the mobile internet when the connection is showing 3g. It will only connect when it is showing H or H+.
Also for some strange reason, the internet connection wont work at all if i havent used it for a few hours. To get back internet you have to go to flight mode and back or switch off and on to get back online.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with my SG2 or my SKY router but occasionally despite all my other WiFi items in the house all being able to access the internet, every now and then despite my SG2 showing a good strong WiFi signal I get no connection. To resolve the matter I have to unplug the router and restart it.
I can access the internet through my WiFi at home (I have AT&T wireless) or at AT&T hotspots (Starbucks, Sam's Club, etc.). However, when I'm somewhere that has non-AT&T WiFi (Chick-Fil-A, Panera, etc.), I can connect -- with a strong signal -- but I'm unable to access the internet. I get a message about the server not responding.
Have had brand new phone purchased through retail store for 1 week and WIFI tethering does not work. Other devices can connect to the phone but cannot get access to internet. I have the latest updates and no other issues have popped up yet (have not tried usb tethering yet). I am running stock software.
I have just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S2. I am unable to use the phones 3G services in my flat as there is no service or a very poor mobile phone service. I thought I could connect the phone to my laptop which is wired into broadband and use that. Any ideas on how to that ? The laptop is connected to a wired broadband service, there is no router.
My phone says its has the following - ndroid version: 2.3.3Baseband version: I9100BUKG1Kernel version: 184.108.40.206-I9100BUKG2-CL342890 root@DELL102 #2Build number: GINGERBREAD.BUKG2ies says may phone has the latest firmware (Kies also updated) but since I updated the phone about 3 weeks ago it keeps restart (as if powered off/on) at various times (during calls, internet access, running apps). Went into my local VF shop and they said to check there has not been a never firmware update but Kies finds nothing. Is anyone else experiencing this?
My phone is Nokia E6. I've installed Nokia Suite (v: 3.6.36) on my pc.I connect usb cable to E6 and pc. Run Nokia Suite. And then I connect my pc to internet. I expect E6 will connect too but it's just not working.
my PC was able to connect to the internet with my 5800 via a USB cable. Now, I can no longer connect to the internet with the 5800 via a USB cable. I had never tried connecting the computer to the internet with the 5800 via Bluetooth prior to this incident, so I tried that. Strangely, it works. My question is how come I can no longer use the 5800 via USB as a modem, but how come the 5800 via Bluetooth still works as a working modem? Sorry, if my sentences are confusing. I have a terrible headache at the moment. While the Bluetooth connection works, I just feel better using the USB connection and knowing that my 5800 has a clean bill of health. BTW, my PC is on Windows 7 Professional at the moment. I've tried uninstalling the Ovi Suite and reinstalling it, but that didn't work. I've also tried using PC suite instead of the Ovi Suite but that didn't work either. What other options do I have, beside hard resetting the phone? Edit: BTW, the message shown when I tried to connect to the internet with the 5800 USB modem was "failed to establish a network connection".
regarding apps when they ask for permission to access your call, msg, etc on installion. I was wonder if it's safe to install such apps which want total control and also if there is a software to block them from access on your phone.
My wife have Galaxy S5's, I have a Note 3 and tablets with my children also have a laptop that all connect to WIFI to internet with no problem - EXCEPT My wife GALAXY S5. The Galaxy S5 is working fine until recent upgrade to Lolipop 5. I have check my router and I could see the connection of the Galaxy S5 in the wireless device list. I have tried few approach as below none of them worked out.
1) Forgetting the connection and re-connect doesn't work. 2) I tried static IP address for connection and it doesn't work as well. 3) Even tried wipe the cache partition and it didn't work out as well. 4) Factory reset the phone and yet the internet connection via home wifi failed
I both have Galaxy S5's, each have tablets & my son has iPad, also have a laptop that all connect to WIFI to internet no problem - EXCEPT MY GALAXY S5. I don't understand what is going on. I have gone into my router, can see the phone there in the list of connected devices. Checked to see if the phone was blockedIt seems that my wifi on my phone is connecting to the router, then off, then on, then off. Sometimes it connects for like 10 seconds, then I can open a page, then it wont go again.
Is there a way I can go into my application manager on the phone & force stop the wifi or delete the cache on the wifi? it is clear that the issue is on the S5's end.
Is there any way to connect my S2 to a regular phone and use the regular phone to make calls via my S2 signal/sim card - the reason for this is I use the S2 as a work phone and make many many calls from my desk using it and find it more difficult to quickly dial using the touch screen etc.the type of phone i am wanting to use is just a regular, pick up the handset type of phone.
I just picked up an LG GS170 phone (low-end flip-phone) with T-Mobile. I was able to use a micro-USB cable and Windows device driver I found from LG so my computer would recognize the phone in the device manager. But I can't do anything with it--no mounted "drive" and I haven't been able to find any Software (LG or third-party) that recognizes the phone (upload/download/edit address book; upload ringtones or wallpapers). I could do that with my old Motorola V195 phone. I have found some website that claim to have "apps" for the GS170 phone (wallpapers, small programs -- jar or zip files) but I can't do anything with them since I don't now how to upload them to the phone.Any ideas for "mounting" the phone, or programs that will talk to it at least for things such as backing up the address book?
I recently updated to Software version G900PV-83BOK4 on my Galaxy S5. Ever since the update, I cannot access Facebook unless on wireless connections. All other Apps work fine. When accessing Facebook I receive a message that says, 'Can't connect right now.'
I've tried various things and can't seem to correct. There is a similar thread on Facebook for all Android devices, but no one seems to have a solution.
I'm sure the title set off a few noob alarms Everything I've read online says USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. I recently bought a pair of Anker micro USB 3.0 cables from Amazon UK (can't post a link). When I use these to try to connect my Samsung S5 to my computers, I get mixed results.
On my desktop: plugging into a USB 3.0 port on the motherboard works fine. The USB front panel of my case is USB 2.0 only. Plugging the phone into these ports using the Anker cable results in the phone only charging, Windows does see it. These ports work fine with the phone if I use a micro USB 2.0 cable.
On my laptop, all the ports as USB 2.0. Plugging the phone into the standard ports results in the phone only charging, Linux does mount the phone. However, plug the phone into the yellow "always on" port and my phone is detected.Do I have duff cable, duff phone or there some odd incompatibility here?
ive been looking at things you can do with the otg cable for galasy s 2 an dam it looks cool. so i got myself a cable 2 acctualy cuz they werent very expensive 1 from amazon an 1 from ebay 2 different cables. it works when i connect a usb flash driver to it totaly fine no problems at all. so i tried my usb mouse/kb, but no luck after a little bit of research i found out that some kb/mouse dont work if they need power so i moved on from that. then i watched some videos an read some threads about using an xbox 360 wired pad but i have the same problem, the lights flash once an then dont come back on an acts like its not powered ive seen others use same pads online an they work fine but not for me.
ps my cables do work usb storage is proff an pad is perfectly fine as i use 2 pads on xbox an work fine.
I recently deactivated my Blackberry Bold 9000 (v220.127.116.114 operating system) from AT&T since I ported my cell phone number to US Cellular who had better coverage in my region. I'd like to continue using my Blackberry Bold 9000 as a free wi-fi only internet access device and install the Google Voice app so my kids could text message and make phone calls via the Google Voice app and phone's wi-fi connection. While my BB Bold is able to connect to our home wi-fi network like in the past it doesn't successfully connect to the internet and gives me the following message: "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later."
I recently purchased a Samsung SGH-A256 phone to replace my old one that died. I got it cause the phone was cheap and I could just stick my SIM card in and be done with it. Anyway, I tried using the internet with it and it keeps saying "Error: Network Unavailable". I assume it's cause the phone uses the Edge network up here and I don't have access to it on my current plan (my old phone was a Sony Ericsson). So my question is: can I change the APN from internet.com to something and access the internet? Sorry, I'm a little foggy here but like I said, I'm new to all this. I've been trying to look around and find out what this APN business is but all the websites I find don't really explain it.
Does anyone know if the prepaid T239 phone will communicate with a computer using cable APCBS10UBE?I read from some sites that the phone does not support pc sync while other say it does.If it does sync where can I find the usb driver?
I can't connect my Lumia 1020 to my PC. When I cable it in, I see in device manager under "other device" that the phone is listed with a yellow point. I tried to uninstall it and the replug it in but this does not work. I followed the instructions at: support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2749484 but without success. My phone still won't be recognized.
