can somebody tell me how to install jar files on to nokia n900?bcoz the java application dont work on n900. and does somebody know how to work on officesuite which can be installed on to it as there is no officesuite(likems word,sheet.etc)
View 4 Repliescool new application that allows you to get access to all your files/folders on your n900 from any pc with IE or another browser so long as you are on wifi.
there are two parts to install:
tiny smb & tiny smb gui.install the server first then the gui.
if you have rootfs installed:
open xterm
sudo gainroot
apt-get install tinysmb
apt-get install tinysmbgui
to get it to work and find out what your ip address is on the n900,
open xterm
/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 | grep inet
then go to your computer, open a browser that is connected to the same network, and type in the ip address of the n900 and you will see all your files/folders pop up like explorer.
Any one can help me how can I transfer data like music files, pics etc from N900 to into other mobile phone through bluetooth ?

I don't want another pair of them, I'm looking for an alternative set of in-ear earphones with a mic. Can anyone suggest something that has been tested with an N900? I bought a pair of Klipsch S2m earphones which had been suggested, but they don't work, they make a strange and loud clicking noise, so it seems the N900 is sensitive about which earphones/headsets work.Ideally I'm after earphones that have a cable, so I can use them on an aeroplane. Don't mind if they are Bluetooth too, as long as wired use is possible. I don't mind if special buttons don't work, as long as the audio and mic work correctly.Can anyone suggest anything that has been proven to work in practice?

I have the same problem if there is a SIM in the phone but I choose not to enter then pin when starting the phone. I have set up a WLAN that works fine with the SIM enabled so it seems as the settings are fine. Is there something special I have to do to enable the WLAN when there is no SIM in the phone?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI decided to go with PC Suite for Sync. I think it's a great program (I have never owned a Nokia.) PC Suite does say it is not fully compatible yet with N900. For sync though I have had no trouble. I noticed the backup feature didn't work - it thinks my phone is not connected. But the N900 does have a"Backup feature" on it. So I am guessing I can just backup the N900 using the N900 and then plug it into the computer and read it as a mass storage device - and copy the backup information onto the computer. That should work for backup/restore until they give an update to the program. Is that what others are doing here?
As for music... I don't know what t do. There is Media Sync for Blackberry which will transfer iTunes (not purchased iTunes unless you unlocked yours (which I did) it will transfer your iTunes play lists onto your Blackberry.
Is there something that will get music in the iTunes format onto the N900 - or will I have to convert my music files?
I'm sorry to bother you, but I have two questions related to my N900. I have a headset for my N95 8GB and it works fine, but the media buttons on the headset won't work with my new phone. Is there a way to make them work or is there a headset with those buttons that will work with N900? My second question is about zip-programs. What is the best program available for N900 for zipping/unzipping files with my phone? I am not so familiar with linux/maemo so I plugged my N900 into my pc and unzipped them with PC.Otherwise I have been very happy with my new phone.

MP3 files doesn't work on my Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type. When i transfer mp3 files from my media library (on Mac) to MicroSD card (playlist directory), and try to run them using the default X3-02 Touch and Type media player, they don't work. I don't get any error, the media player just skips them. Almost all of them. Though, some of the music files (mp3) do work. I'm not sure what the problem is, and how to report this problem.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi realy your help in this one, now i live in Lebanon, and i'm searching for a n900, but the other day my freind told that you can't check for your balance in your phone operartor, is that true, were i live, you need to recharge your phone in before you make phone calls, send messages etc, and to see how much dollars(or what ever its called) you still have in what you have recharged, you need to press *11# and than the green button, and than a message shows up showing you your phone operator balance, is it true that that can't be done on the n900? i like it how i can overclock the n900 from 600 mhz to 1000 mhz in less than 30 sec.

I got my blackberry curve for christmas. it didnt come with a new sim because i was keeping my number.. im with meteor (ireland). I invited a few of my friends to my bbm using their pin but it didnt go through just comes up pending but they never got the invite. when they try to invite me using my pin i dont get an invite. As well as that i an send files using bluetooth but some how can not recieve even if paired with the other device.
