Is there any hope, that this Superb Phone would some day do what the much simpler phones already ages do: Work as Voice Guiding Car Navigator? What is the matter, why not? When?
View 4 RepliesI understand the maps don't support turn by turn voice guiding at this stage, but I thought ovi maps would at least be able to show a driving view instead of a birds eye view for navigation...Might be a bit of a lamens question, but if anyone could shed some light, I'd appreciate it. I'm in Australia and Sygic is not available. I'd purchase it if it was available.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased the new N900 phone. First impression is it looks very good and works well, BUT still lacking the key features of the N96 such as:
Ovi Maps does not provide voice navigation. Java is not supported so such brilliant apps such as the Opera browsers can not be installed onto it. PC suite is not yet available it the phone. So at first glance it is a great phone that could match the IPhone, but more work needs to be done to it to make it the all singing and dancing phone that Nokia needs it to be. If i am wrong on these points could someone point me in the right direction of addressing them
Any way to assign the voice email to a dial pad key, e.g. "1" as is usually the case on "regular" phones? Have not found how to change settings of the voice mail yet (have the phone since yesterday.

Is it possible to enter a destination address and have the phone guide you walking? Out of interest will the N900 ever be able to support video conferencing or is there a hardware problem? And one day later, it turned off itself and now I can't turn it on. When I press the turn on button, screen's light are ok,but there are no Nokia logo etc. 3-4 seconds later it turns off automatically.

Later on I just copied the cities folder from my E71 to N900. Even after that there were no maps preinstalled. I am using PR1.1. Any hints

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe WH-205 earphones that came with my N900 have died; there is an internal break and it has lost sound to one ear. I don't want another pair of them, I'm looking for an alternative set of in-ear earphones with a mic. Can anyone suggest something that has been tested with an N900? I bought a pair of Klipsch S2m earphones which had been suggested, but they don't work, they make a strange and loud clicking noise, so it seems the N900 is sensitive about which earphones/headsets work.Ideally I'm after earphones that have a cable, so I can use them on an aeroplane. Don't mind if they are Bluetooth too, as long as wired use is possible. I don't mind if special buttons don't work, as long as the audio and mic work correctly.Can anyone suggest anything that has been proven to work in practice?

I have the same problem if there is a SIM in the phone but I choose not to enter then pin when starting the phone. I have set up a WLAN that works fine with the SIM enabled so it seems as the settings are fine. Is there something special I have to do to enable the WLAN when there is no SIM in the phone?
View 27 Replies View Relatedever since bbc moved to flash 10 a couple of weeks ago, iplayer and bbc news videos no longer work on the n900. so does nokia have any plans to fix this by providing flash 10 to n900 usersis there a workaround that can be used in the mean time?lack of a functioning iplayer is a huge deal in uk as that is probably the most viewed flash site in uk (equivalent to claiming that the phone supports flash but doesn't play Internet). so i hope someone from nokia would take it seriously and break their silence on the availability of flash 10 on the platform.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI decided to go with PC Suite for Sync. I think it's a great program (I have never owned a Nokia.) PC Suite does say it is not fully compatible yet with N900. For sync though I have had no trouble. I noticed the backup feature didn't work - it thinks my phone is not connected. But the N900 does have a"Backup feature" on it. So I am guessing I can just backup the N900 using the N900 and then plug it into the computer and read it as a mass storage device - and copy the backup information onto the computer. That should work for backup/restore until they give an update to the program. Is that what others are doing here?
As for music... I don't know what t do. There is Media Sync for Blackberry which will transfer iTunes (not purchased iTunes unless you unlocked yours (which I did) it will transfer your iTunes play lists onto your Blackberry.
Is there something that will get music in the iTunes format onto the N900 - or will I have to convert my music files?
I'm sorry to bother you, but I have two questions related to my N900. I have a headset for my N95 8GB and it works fine, but the media buttons on the headset won't work with my new phone. Is there a way to make them work or is there a headset with those buttons that will work with N900? My second question is about zip-programs. What is the best program available for N900 for zipping/unzipping files with my phone? I am not so familiar with linux/maemo so I plugged my N900 into my pc and unzipped them with PC.Otherwise I have been very happy with my new phone.

View 34 Replies View RelatedThe new kind of t9 with nokia navigator 6710 is really really bad, I'm searching to get the older one on this phone.the problem is that when you press * to change the word, the phone become slower, and open a new window where you can see the words and choose. this thing is really uncomfortable and make you really slower and harder to complete the sms.the big problem is that you can't enable or disable this option, you must use it! this is a very bad thing from nokia, cause people must choose their way to write sms.i can disable and enable t9, so why can't i enable and disable this option? this is a bug from nokia in this phone!please help me to find a patch, a software or something else to solve this problem, or if doesn't exist i need someone that advice nokia to put something to download on the site, to solve this problem.

This morning i read in the newspaper the NOKIA gives for free the Navigator o its cellulars.I opened the Nokia WEB site and the news was real: you can free download maps for Smartphones (but non for N86). My N86 has its drive navigator with an original 10 days license (expires on 31/01/2010).
The walk navigator has a lifetime license.
I then updated the drive navigator license data, but no change. It keeps prompting me to buy a new licence for the drive navigatorr( 99 euro, one year).
It does not sound correct: is now free or not free the NOKIA navigator? Before trying Nokia Maps, I upgraded to 20.115 via software updater and it prompted me to install nokia maps 3.0, which I did.
