Nokia :: Unable To Select Network Abroad?

from Belgium, traveling in the States - using the 5800 XpressMusic. I'm unable to get a right network (to make phonecalls and text). Doesn't matter if I use the Dual Mode, UMTS or GSM. When I manually search, it gives me 2 options; AT&T and T-Mobile. When I request either one of them it tells me that I don't have access. What am I doing wrong? Is there a setting I'm missing?Settings > Connectivity > Network > Network unavailable. I'd like to see it changed. GPS and wifi are working fine.

I pay £40 for unlimited texts and internet and have 900 minutes, the price of my blackberry bolt-on is included in that price.I'm going on holiday next week, was wondering if using my bbm while abroad would mean extra roaming charges when I come back. I rang 02 and they '50/50' om it.Wondering if anyone can help?
Has anyone used bbm while abroad? Did your network charge extra?Nobody seems to have a solid answer,Also whats the alternative if you are charged? Will bbm still work if i use a local sim card while on holiday?

I am currently abroad in Vietnam where Verizon Wireless does not connect; meaning I can only use my iPhone with wifi, in airplane mode. I've been trying to set up iMessage, but keep getting the "Waiting for activation..."- is there anyway to set up iMessage while abroad and unable to connect to my wireless network/receive SMS?Â

I recently purchased an E72 and am surprised at how the device will not allow me to select text from an email I received so I can copy and paste a small snippet of text from that email to forward along to someone. It's like the original received email is locked and the only dynamic portion of that email is any URL link.
BEING ALLOWED TO HIGHLIGHT (SELECT) AND COPY TEXT IN A RECEIVED EMAIL IS SO BASIC I CAN'T BELIEVE THE E72 WON'T ALLOW ME TO EXECUTE THIS FUNCTION.This issue is actually a deal breaker for me and I'm considering returning the device.

When I try and change my ringtone on my N97. I go into the profile & generalize then I look at my list of songs but when I click on the one I want to use it says 'unable to select object'. Also sometimes it does let me use one eventually (after i select it about 10 times) but then when my phone rings it's just the normal nokia ringing tone. Can anyone advise how to use songs as ringtones and how to keep that tone being used?

I'll be visiting France in the next few weeks and wish to use the sat nav on my E52. In the uk my O2 contract gives me unlimited internet access but outside of the uk I am charged.I just want to check I've set up the phone to aviod these charges.I've gone into Positioning settings then positioning methods and dissabled assisted GPS and network based and left only integrated GPS ticked.Will this do the trick or is there something else I need to do?

I have a 3G enabled SIM which works fine on galaxy fit.But in my xperia mini pro, when I select WCDMA the network disconnects and shows "emergency calls only".I have shown that to my service provider but he says thats the phones fault.I have also tried another 3G SIM from another provider in my phone but the problem persists.This is a HARDWARE problem, I got it rectified at SONY service center (free of cost!!!).They replaced the PCB( Printed Circuit Board).

I am going abroad and want to make sure that I cannot use GPRS/WAP while abroad. I still want the wifi feature. How do you dissable it to ensure that it cannot come on by itself and will only ask if needed. Any help would be appreciated.

I am going on holiday next week and this will be the first time I'm taking the phone with me (except in Switzerland where it remained in flight mode throughout). I want to ensure I don't get hit with any charges on my return.
I will be using the WiFi functionality as the hotel is WiFi enabled and I will be receiving/sending texts and phone calls. However, I do not want, under any circumstances, my phone to connect to the internet using the network as the fees are astronomical. How can I ensure that the phone only ever connects via WiFi?

i am using Nokia N97 Mini mobile. whn i try to connect my Wifi connection at University. it says unable to connect.when i try to add a new access point from Settings>Connectivity>Destinations>New Access Point.it checks for new connection and found the Wifi Router... but whn i select to add it in my list. i get Error message... " Unable to edit protected Network".though the Wifi router is set to Open Network and its public.... still i cannot access it... whereas everyone else is enjoying the connection....
can anybody help me with this problem.. and tell me if there is any solution available other then reinstalling the Firm.

I have had my 920 for four days now and have not been able to access the netwrok. I tried 3 different sims and it just wouldnt activate. They suggested trying a new sim and activating in another phone BEFORE the 920. IT WORKED. Then i founs the phone to just constantly crash itself.

I have historical issues connecting to wi-fi networks including my home one on my iPhone 5 but iPad no issues.
phone is 12 months old and have just reset network settings but still same issues.
others using iPhone 4 and 5/5s no issues here      Â

Ever since I got my lumia 800, 5 days after its release, I have never been able to connect to my wireless network at home.
I have tried everything I can think of. I am using a Linksys WAG160N modem router running WEP encryption.
I know the WEP key (because I made it) so I know it is correct, but the phone always says that the password is incorrect.

the "wi-fi" section within "settings" cannot be selected ive tried resetting not just the network but all settings on the phone, and got no luck.Ive also tried resetting my wireless router... I have an iphone 4 too and that seems to connect absolutely fine.

Following latest update, i am now unable to select multiple SMS messages. SMS is now in a chat format and i am frustrated that i cannot slect more than one SMS to save. Previoulsy i was able to selct as many SMS as i wanted and then save or delete as i want.

I have separated email from SMS/MMS messages.When I select the SMS icon I can see SMS messages from a specific date ~7 days ago, but nothing more recent. When I select View Folder and select SMS Inbox I can see all my SMS messages up until current.Does anyone know how to fix the corrupt SMS/MMS icon (which is presumably pointing to a corrupt view of the SMS Inbox)?

I have updated my Nokia 5800 and ever since when I try to go on the internet via Orange it won't let me. I can't even use or set up Wi-fi. When I go into settings and connectivity there is no option to select or search for WLAN. When I try to add new access point it tells me that my network destination needs to be set first.Any ideas what I need to do please?

I just got my new Blackberry Bold 9000 and got everything migrated from my old Pearl and I have everything working good except the Blackberry Messenger. I upgraded it to 5.0.0.57 and all I get is the Blackberry Messenger License Agreement and it will not allow me to click on either button, ``I Accept``or ``Ì Do Not Accept`` .Is there something I`m missing or what.... This is very frustrating as it is my only way of communicating while I`m working.

I used to have a Motorola Defy, you could set the alarm to selected music. I have been unable to do this with my new Motorola RAZR i. Also I cannot connect my phone to my PC. I have updated/reinstalled all the drivers but it still does not recognise my phone.

As a former 3GS user, I am missing what appear to be 2 functions unavailable on the SII:
1 - the ability to select "shuffle" for random music play; and2 - nusic settings (e.g. bass) are not retained, and have to be re-selected each time I start the music player again.Is this just me not knowing where to look, or are those functions really not available on the SII?
