I am currently abroad in Vietnam where Verizon Wireless does not connect; meaning I can only use my iPhone with wifi, in airplane mode. I've been trying to set up iMessage, but keep getting the "Waiting for activation..."- is there anyway to set up iMessage while abroad and unable to connect to my wireless network/receive SMS?Â

Doesn't matter if I use the Dual Mode, UMTS or GSM. When I manually search, it gives me 2 options; AT&T and T-Mobile. When I request either one of them it tells me that I don't have access. What am I doing wrong? Is there a setting I'm missing?Settings > Connectivity > Network > Network unavailable. I'd like to see it changed. GPS and wifi are working fine.

My wife is on a school trip to the US. Meanwhile, I am at home in Canada. I am texting her, but I found it odd she never replies and vice versa. So, she discovered that her iPhone (latest iOS 5 release) keeps trying to send the message as an iMessage. It is not reverting to SMS after a given time, as it should and as I have seen it do before. I have tried it now also and my wife only receives my messages when she has a wifi connection (she does not have data roaming enabled). It seems like my iPhone too continously tries to send the message as an iMessage and it does not switch to SMS after a certain timeout time. The message that the iPhone continously tries to send as an iMessage never fails, however the status does not change until the next time my wife is in wifi coverage and the message is delivered.

I activated my iphone 4 to tmobile from att. Receiving/making call and text works well. But iMessage and Facetime is not working with my phone number, it just sending with my email address!I tried to change the receiving address to phone number but on my phone (setting-message-iMessage section), phone number bar is showing as verifying; same as on Facetime. Also its gray out and not possible to tab though. And finally verifying status changes to error... Even though my phone number seems as correct format with +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX. View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife's phone stopped working last weekend. I went through the T-mobile technical care people and their solution was to replace the phone. Unfortunately the phone has a small crack in the bottom bezel so they won't replace it unless I pay the $175 deductible. I am hands on enough to fix some parts of the phone (I've replaced the screen on my G3 twice) so I thought I'd give it a shot here.
Her phone will work on wifi, but if you turn wifi off or if she goes out of wifi range her phone stops working. When the t-mobile person tried to have me manually connect it to the network, it said unable to connect to the network, please try again. We did a soft and hard reset. They tried to refresh my network connectivity and none of these options worked. We moved the sim card into my phone and it worked just fine. So obviously there is a hardware issue going on.
After transition from BES to BIS I get the following message when trying to connect to internet:"Browsing over the cellular network is not included as part of your current service plan. To browse the web you must use wi-fi or contact your service provider to chase your service plan."My service provider says that all settings on their side are OK and doesn't know how to help as BB has no helpdesk in Czech Republic. Browser works properly with wi-fi only. Incoming and outgoing e-mails work in BB as well.
