Apr 19, 2012My iPhone is on the Bell network, along with 3 other iPhones in my household. We have WiFi and the phone indicate that they are connected to the WiFi when we are in the house. However, my bill from Bell indicates several instances where the phones (all 4 at different times) are connected to the 3G network for 24+ hours at a time. Additionally, it shows the phone connected twice during that time period (as though there were 2 different sessions at exactly the same time, but with differing amount of data connected)
The explaination that Bell gives me is that there are 'minimized' applications still working on 3G even though the phone says it is on WiFi, and that each of these opens its own 'connection'My understanding of cell technology is that the phone can only access one method of Internet connectivity at a time, and that it can be explained as a 'pipe' or 'straw' carrying connectivity and all of the data. I have never heard of a phone that can access two different types at the same time, nor one that uses separate 'sessions' at the same time of either type of connectivity.
I would assume that I turn on my phone in the morning and I am in my house, it indicates WiFi, so I can browse the web, collect my email and update my Facebook on that 'session' that lasts 4 hours until I leave the house. Now my 3G kicks in and the email that I still have open now collects through the opened 3G session, as well as the page I left open downloading something.When I get to work and enter my WiFi area there, the session would then collect my email through WiFi again, and my download as well.

Sep 27, 2011I recently had my Bold 9900 stolen/lost, although I have now purchased a replacement 9900 I want to try and track down my old one as it is not a cheap device. I still have all of the packaging of my first phone so therefore the IMEI / PIN etc. I have reported this to my provider (China Mobile) and I have a new account setup on my new device.I have sent a bbm request to my old phone hoping to get some contact but my joy, I am asking friends who have my old PIN as a bbm contact to try the new 'owner' as well. Is there any way I can find the mobile number of whoever is using my old phone so I can ring them? (I understand it may have been sold on but has only been 3 days since it was stolen/lost) or tracking the device? (I did not have any tracking software on the device at the time it was stolen).

May 23, 2012I have some random iPhone application transferring tons of data from my phone, even when the phone is asleep. It appears to happen once per day, around 5-6pm and for example last night it 'sent' 75mb of data out. At a 200mb cap, this is pretty scary. How can I find out which app is doing this? AT&T was useless and suggested Apple was doing this. Even though all of our iphone updates are manual, and that would be a 'receive' not a send. It's an iPhone 4 running the latest operating system.

BB Curve 8300 :: Only Has Service When Wifi Is Connected
Aug 15, 2010Started happening about 2 weeks ago. My girlfriend and I went to 6 flags in Arlington, Tx I left my phone in the glove box of the car so it wouldn't get wet. When we got back to the car I had 3 missed calls but no service. Red X by the antenna logo and something like no network available. When I got home I put it on the charger and got a full charge, turned it on it said searching for network with the same red X. Found nothing so I pulled the battery and SIM. Waited a couple minutes, reloaded and had perfect service. A week later I started dropping calls and can only get service if the phone is hot it seems. Now the only way for me to pick up the t-mobile network is if I'm connected through wifi. Even then there is a huge lag in calls and sending and receiving data. Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem, if a way, or is it possible I fried it by leaving it in the heat?

After ICS update in November i have to toggle Airplane mode on and off to get wifi connection back after a period of not useing it on my phone .
My wife was reluctant to update hers when I did as she doesn't like change. However over time her phone kept droping wifi network connection. I would have to power it down and remove battery and sim card to get it to stay on wif for a few days. Finaly that was no longer a fix. I went to a AT&T hotspot and downloaded the latest ICS update.on her phone No matter what I do it will connect to our network wifi and bring in mail etc for about ten seconds then the singal bars change from white to blue, The settings menue shows wifi still on blue connected but the signal bars shows blue. Her data use would indicate it is indee using cingular data.

Nov 14, 2013My phone connects to my home wifi network, but then when I go to open and use any app internet related, it doesn't work and says to check my connection. The sync icon in the top screen is constantly going, so I thought maybe it would have something to do with that (I am really not good with anything technology related so I don't know). I did a hard reset and nothing changed. Also, I am able to connect wirelessly on my laptop and other devices. It was honestly working one minute, not working the next. I didn't download or make any changes to anything on my phone.

Feb 18, 2016I've literally tried everything that XDA, reddit, and other miscellaneous sites have told me to do and all of them have the same 3-4 ways to get this to work and none do.
Resetting wifi, airplane mode, rebooting, resetting network settings, restored a backup, reflashed a ROM, and went back to stock.. nothing. I also tried go into Netgear dashboard WiFi Settings and change the auto channel but that method doesn't seem to be an option for me, it's either "Auto" or number 1 through 10. Or 5G is auto and numbers in the 100s.
All other devices connect to my wifi no problem, and my Nexus 6P was just fine up until about 2hours ago.
