IPhone :: Use The Wifi To Make Calls Rather Than The Cellular Service?
Jun 2, 2012
I just moves and the cellular service (ATT and Sprint) is very poor. I have ATT Uverse for Wifi. Can I use the Wifi to make calls rather than the cellular service? Any option other than a land line?
So I received the new Fi Sim card as the one in my nexus 6 wasnt compatible with the Nexus 6p. Went through the activation etc and I receive calls on wifi but not make calls on wifi or cellular, data is brutally slow. Waiting to hear back from Google on this.
Anyone else have the issues of calls dropping as they are placed and/or "Cannot Connect to the Cellular Data service" when you try open email or Safari?
Will the Messaging App work when I have wifi connection but no cellular service? I'm going too Italy and am planning on taking my iPhone 4S. My Verizon service will not be viable there, but I will have a wifi connection most nights. When I connect will I get my text messages?
So my phone has zero service (says SOS, so I can only make emergency calls) and says insert SIM card at the top of the screen. I think it is connected to other networks. How do I get it to connect back to my network?
i live in a military base and in the rooms that are provided to me I dont get any cells service. This is not a good thing because i need to able to get in contact with at all times. The only way i can get service is if i am standing outside my room. i have my own wifi connection in my room.
i have no 3g signal in my trailer but i have wifi. if im on a call outside using 3g and enter my house the call drops. my friends lg phone automatically switches to the wifi and doesnt loose calls.
I live in an area that has no ATT service or any other service yet I use an iphone 4 with ATT service. My husband uses a T-mobile Android and while neither of us receive any cell signal, when our WIFI is on, my husband can receive and make phone calls with his cell phone. I on the other hand have not been able to figure out how the iphone may be able function in a similar way.
My phone keeps saying "Searching" on top, and because of that I think it's causing my phone to lag. Buttons become unresponsive and so do tapping on them on screen. It starts freezing up and I think it's because it's attempting to get a signal with Sprint.
Cellular data service (Edge or 3G) does not work on my iphone 4S. I think the problem started when I upgraded to version 5.1.1.I can not browse web sites on safari, mail doesnt work, no applications that require data connection work like facebook, whatsapp. However everything works fine when I am connected to wifi.I have checked several times with my network service provider that the data package is enabled. So far I have tried:Slide on/off "Enable 3G"Slide on/off "Mobile Data"Reset network settings
So I have an old iPhone 4 that no longer has cellular service. I just updated to the latest version of iOS, signed in with my Apple ID, and now want to activate iMessage on this device, but it says "waiting for activation". Is there a trick to get iMessage activated on this device?
I was told that my blackberry can make calls via Wi-Fi if I didn't have network coverage but can get within a mobile network. I've seen people do this with their blackberry devices but with different carriers. Is this still possible? I called my carrier after I received the phone for assistance doing this and they denied the phone having that capability. Can someone please give me a straight answer and instructions on how to do this? Also, my device does not connect with the BB enterprise server. What do I need to do to have this service activated?
I have (accidentally) rec'd calls at 30,000 ft on a delta plane with my network option on wifi only and having logged on to Deltas onboard wifi. This led me to believe that it is possible to make and recieve calls anywhere in the world as long as I am in a hot spot.
I have contacted my carrier, T-mobile, and have rec'd mixed signals from them. I am about to depart for spain and was thinking as long as I set my phone to wifi only, I should be able to make, recieve calls and data without incurring any roaming charges since it is all data or VoIP via the web.
Does anyone know of a BB app that can be used to make free calls over my home wifi network? I thought the Google Voice/Google Talk apps would accomplish this but that does not seem to work.
My Sony Xperia Z3 doesn't have service. It can only connect to WiFi. I've tried airplane mode, shutting it off, resetting the phone. I cannot receive incoming calls nor make calls.
I'm thinking of buying a used Dream and I read that it has both a standalone GPS and an assisted GPS. Does that mean I'd be able to use the GPS without paying for a cellular plan? I know some phones lock down things like the GPS when you're not paying for cell service. If I can't use it without cell service, would I be able to use it if I installed something like CyanogenMod?
I live in Japan. I updated to Lumia Black the other day and since then my 1020 cannot find NTT Docomo cellular network. The 1020 finds other networks (JP Docomo) but not NTT Docomo.
So, I am unable to use the phone. I took the SIM card out and put it into my Lumia 620. The 620 is using Amber. It was able to find and use cellular services provided by NTT Docomo. So, Amber works; Black does not.
A few days ago, I updated my phone to 2.3.3. Since the update, which was successful, the celluar (3G) connection has been dropping and not reconnecting. My only resolution has been to power down/up the phone. I tried forcing the phone in/out of Airplane mode in hopes that that action would force a start of the 3G stuffs but no luck.
So I got my first ever iPhone and it's the iPhone 4. I have the 200mb plan and I plan to switch cellular data off most of the time if wifi is available to avoid overage. Thing is, with cellular data off, I can't do certain things (ex. Receive picture messages via the Messages app) unless I turn on cellular data. So as long as wifi is available, will my phone still use up cellular data even though it can get data off the wifi? Thanks. I apologize if I failed to look up any threads on a similar subject. I did a quck search but they weren't really what I was looking for.
How will I get to know that my phone is currently using wifi network or my mobile network while using data services? Can i install whatsapp without either purchasing it or jailbreaking my iphone?
i just purchased my iphone, and i found my cellular usage is increasing while i was on wifi the entire time? i thought i'm completely off the cellular network while connected to wifi, but this doesn't seem to be the case.
My phone will not make calls, but I can still text just fine. I want to make sure if it's a network issue or if something happened with the phone itself. I have never dropped it and I always have the projective screens/covers.
I can make calls but I cant receive all of the calls. What happends is the phone rings then you swipe the screen to receive then there is nothing but the call has been answered, sometimes(not all) I can put on the microphone to fix this but this does nt work all the time.
The person is on the other end and No "mute has not been hit" the only thing i can think of is a loose wire internally or a software problem?? that does not mean its right, hence I am asking?
