Today we replaced my wife's iPhone 4S with a new one, (The old iPhone, although recently purchased, had battery issues and could not hold a charge). We returned home and the new iPhone cannot connect to our WiFi network. We would select the network, and the system would not even ask for a password, but immediately responded with "Unable to join network "[name of network]". The new iPhone was able to connect to the WiFi in the Apple Store.
Per the Troubleshooting FAQ on this, I reset the network settings. We now are taken to the Password screen (which was unavailable to us before the reset), yet the the system seemingly does not take it, since we also get the "Unable to join network "[name of network]" message. Our MacBooks and another iPhone can successfully join the network and access the Internet.
I have an AirPort Extreme running the latest software. I've tried everything and still am unable to join my own wifi network from my iPhone 4s, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 3G, my girlfriend's iPhone 4. The only devices that will connect to the network are our MacBook Pros and iPads, (1 and 2). I have reset the airport to default settings, I've restored my iPhone, I've even disabled the password. I am still unable to join my open airport extreme wifi network.
I tried to join an open wireless network in a cafe using my 3GS, and I got the message 'Unable to join network' and the SSID of the network. At the time I just though it was a problem with the cafe's network and didn't think about it again.
We have 2 iMacs, an iPad, iPhone, and other wifi devices such as a Nook. I have AirPort Express and the green light is on, it is connected to the Linksys router that is connected to my cable modem (RCN). I have attempted a few times to reset the wireless and the airport express so that our wifi devices will work, but after about a week or two, it just stops working. I get timeout errors, and my iPhone and iPad just says "Unable to join the network"; the iMac just keeps asking me to enter a WPA password, I'm entering the correct password, because it worked for a couple of weeks. At this point I have both iMacs hooked up via ethernet.I was wondering if I need a new router, should use the AirPort (purchased in 2006) and Linksys at the same time? The cable modem only has one (1) port for ethernet cable.
I updated yesterday to ios 5.1 and now I am unable to join my home network. I have reset network connections, restarted, entered correct name and passwords and get the message "unable to join ____". i didn't have this problem until the update.
We have two iPhones at home that, all of a sudden, cannot connect to the home wifi network. I rebooted the cable modem and was then able to see and connect to the network with both iPhones and an iPad, but, a few minutes later, was unable to join the network. I have an iMac and a Thinkpad laptop that both connect fine and stay connected. I've tried rebooting the iPhones and forgetting the network, but the problem keeps coming back. I called Comcast to suggest they "change the channel" on their wireless gateway, but they couldn't do it.
My Iphone 5 gives me "Unable to join the network" for my home wifi.. i can connect to any other wifi except my own even after i took off the password from my router
I cannot connect my 5c to my wifi. The device selects the correct network but it is unable to join. My iPad connects without difficulty but not my phone.
I recently changed to EE and wanted to add my new number to iMesssage, so I looked on apple support and found the solution so i did it and reset my network settings but now when I try connect to my home WiFi it wont work?
I have an AirPort extreme and two AirPort expresses. I have never had any issues. Now, my iPhone 4 and 4s will not connect to wifi. However, my PC and iPad will connect without any issue. I have tried resetting the network, routers, and cable modem. I have also tried resetting the iPhone network settings as indicated in the discussions. I've looked at the airport Utility and and only strange item I notice is that the AirPort Express is broadcasting on the 5GHZ channel, which I understand the iPhones only work at 4GHZ. I'm out of options.
I have an iPhone 3g iOS 4.2.1 with baseband 6.15.00.
If i try to connect to any network, every time i try i get this error: "Unable to join network: "network name"".
I have tried all versions of iOS all firmwares for my router and nothing good. So it find the WiFi networks, but when i try to connect i get the error. I have tried different routers but nothing.
So I'm having a few problems with my iPhone. About 30 hours ago, I dropped my phone into a full sink. It was immersed for probably one or two seconds. I made the mistake of trying to turn it on right away, and it started spazzing - i.e. the startup apple icon screen would come on repeatedly and for a while the screen was flickering.
I looked online and followed people's advice of turning it off, letting the battery die, and leaving it in a cool place to dry. Since this morning the phone has been in a bag of rice drying off. I tried plugging it in tonight (impatiently) and to my delight the phone revived itself after charging for about half an hour. I synced it with my iTunes and sent one or two texts with no problems. But almost immediately my signal went down to no bars and I lost 3G connection.
Since then, it was displaying "Searching..." at the top of the screen, and got bursts of connection enough to receive two texts. Literally I would turn my phone on and all the bars would be there, along with 3G, then within a few seconds no bars again. For the last while it's just said "No Service."
I tried resetting the network settings to no avail, took the sim card out and cleaned it lightly with an eraser, nothing. When I go to "Carrier" under settings, it "searches" for, then finds (after a few minutes), my wireless network, but as soon as I leave the page my connection disappears again.
My question is- does anyone know if water damage can cause this particular kind of problem? Even though my phone is working perfectly otherwise (besides a somewhat mottled, water-spotted screen), is it possible that something within the phone was damaged that will not allow me to get a connection? Or could it be the sim card that is damaged?
What does the "Reset Network Settings" option do? I found this suggestion under the "calls connection issues" topic and all it says is that it will "clear current cellular and Wi-Fi network settings, saved networks, Wi-Fi passwords and VPN settings" but doesn't go into any details of what happens next. Will the phone just automatically reassign the proper settings or will I have a dead phone? I'm on Verizon and have iPhone 4S, OS 5.1 The reason I went looking is because when I first got the iPhone in Jan 2012, I would have issues with calls going straight to voicemail even though my phone was on and showing strong reception. The phone wouldn't ring or anything and then I wouldn't get my VM messages until hours later. This would also happen with text messages. I didn't even know there was an issue, nothing on the phone indicated anything like missed calls or bad/no connection, and would only find out when friends told me or I'd listen to the VM. And it didn't happen all the time just every now and again.
So I had to call Verizon several times and on the last call they refreshed my network line, so I didn't have to do a phone wipe/reset, and that seemed to do the trick. But just today I discovered that now calls are just ringing, but not ringing on my handset. So I have to dial *832 to test the line, which passes, and then everything is fine again:calls come through, and all texts that were held in purgatory while this anomaly happens, come through immediately. So I'm wondering if resetting the network will solve my issue. Is anyone experiencing the same? BTW, yes, I've checked the most obvious thing, and no, I do not have my ringer silenced, off, or have the switch on red.
I bought an iPhone 4G in Hong Kong official Apple store, and now using it in Russia. They said it is oficially unlocked. I never did jail or anything inappropriate within the user licence. Recently I upgraded the device to iOS 5, then to 5.0.1 and 5.1, but the problem still remains. Unfortunately, the Apple guarantie is availiable only at the local place in Hong Kong. The problem is there is no network (EDGE, GPRS, 3G) in the iPhone, it means there is NO sign and NO symbol of network (small circle/E/3G) next after the network name. Of course, none of internet service is availiable. Nothing changes when I'm playing with switching the network switches (in Network menu). I contacted my local network company and they said that none of GPRS services are missing in my account, the GPRS support is on, so they don't know why the network is absent. There is no doubt about network parameters - my son has iPhone 3Gs with the same operator, and parameters he has action pretty well. Do you have any ideas? Is it the problem of Hong Kong->Russia transfer? Maybe this device isn't compatible?
I've tried to put my router password but that doesn't work. I stand about two feet next to my router and it's only at two bars. My ipod, in the same place, has three and works perfectly. I've also tried to reset my router.
I just got an iPhone 3 because my android one stop working. I am not sure how to use my 3G connection because when I go on. Safari or Facebook it says you could not connected because you are not subscribed to a cellular network data. What do I do?
My friend has an i4 4.0 jailbroke from jailbreakme. After jailbreak everything work fine for him. He had MMS working fine he could send and receive MMS no problems. Well the other day he tried to send an MMS and it wouldn't send out. It tries to send and the little bar on the top when you send a message comes up and it goes about 95 percent of the way and stops then he gets the red explanation mark after about 1 minute. So it doesn't go through. He has tried the Iphone Delivery repo and it didn't work, he has reset his network settings didn't work. Was wondering if anyone had any other advice? His facetime works fine no problems there. I assume the next step is a restore which he already knows but he is trying to fix it without restoring.
I know when you upgrade to iOS4 it updates the carrier file to AT&T 7.0. Being on 7.0 doesn't allow me to input my own Cellular Data Network settings. Is there another IPCC for at&t that will work on iOS4 and allow me to input my own cellular data network settings? Something to like the pictures I've posted.
How can we get shortcuts to settings on the homescreen - network, sounds, brightness? 5.1 did away with them. Why? Some clever developer thinks people don't want them? Or don't use them?
