My nokia 5800 Express music V40 go into no-response mode frequently. Means no outgoing calls possible and incoming callers say getting message "phone switched off". After switch off and re-start, functioning normal again.

i have firmware 40.0.005 installed on my 5800. While playing radio all of a sudden radio stops responding. I can kill the radio application but have to restart the phone everytime. Otherwise radio doesnot work.
View 13 Replies View RelatedMy Nokia 5800 was dropped on the floor from a distance .. within few days whenever i receive a call .. i touch the green arrow to answer the call but its like i'm not doing anything , it works only if i pressed the keylock from the side, and when i make a call i can't use call option if only i pressed the keylock from the side .. its like my nokia doesn't know that i'm here and touching the screen if i only pressed the keylock from the side .. everything work good after doing that .. just the problem appears when i receive a call, make call, stopping the alarm .. they all want me to press the side keylock then i can start working.. i need help because its confusing me.i've been told to turn the sensor setting on, remove the memory , reset , upgrade , but nothing solve the issue , i'm waiting your replay guys.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using firmware V 40.0.005 and trying to update to the newest version.I run the update in the Ovi suite and all goes as it should but when my phone restarts it still runs V. 4 instead of the new one.I've also tried updating through my phone but get a message saying that the server is not responding.On another matter, I try to update Ovi maps to V3.4 and it fails every time, I've tried downloading it to my PC and updating it through Ovi suite and my phone comes up with a message saying that the installer is already running.If anyone would be able to help me with this or point me in the right direction it would be GREATLY appreciated, I've only just got my phone back after it needed repairing due to a fault and now this has gone wrong.

Now is this rectifiable? Or better to go for an exchange? I dont trust Nokia Care because my e72 is still with them for some error which they are not explaning properly. Poor customer service.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using my 5800 for about six months but now I'm having trouble using the phone as a modem connected to my laptop via USB. I can get an internet through the handset on its own, but when I try to connect through PC Suite, i get a message saying 'Failed to establish a connection'.The modem service USED to work; first time, every time. The only thing I can think of is that it stopped working after I updated the phone software. Has anyone else encountered this & know of a fix? I'd prefer a quick solution before I start with backing everything up, factory resets etc.I'm using the latest phone software & PC Suite, Windows Vista & I'm on the Vodafone UK network. Like I said, it all USED to work perfectly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI didn't find a topic to help but basically my problem isthat using the ovi map application causes a restrart on my phone.The application loads but a minute through it causes the phone to restars or to even turn off.Nokia supports sent me an Email with instruction to install the ovi map on the phone.The problem still persists like before.I have no data plan and I used the internet to load the map. I apprciate any help you can offer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed letest version of OVI suite and OVI player.I connected my phone to PC in 'Media Transfer' mode but OVI player is not able to detect my phone. Even when I connect my phone in 'PC Suite' mode, OVI suite is not able tranfer or read tarcks from my 5800. In PC suite mode I can use Windows Media Player 11 to transfer music. I have tried this on two different systems having Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista Home Premium, but OVI player is not able to detect my phone.

If I change the "Contacts to display" option to phone memory and sim memory, or sim memory alone for that matter, it displays all the contacts stored on my sim, however no contacts are displayed when I choose phone memory alone. I have tried copying all my contacts from sim back to the phone and still nothing. It's weird because when I do a memory details check on my phone's memory, it's saying that there are 83 contacts stored. Even if I try to manually add a new contact to the phone memory, it STILL is not showing up in my contacts list. I have had this phone about 5 months now and this problem only occurred about a week ago, before that everything was working just fine.

The phone was idle and I wasnt running any application when it had hung. View 7 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded the new ovi maps 3.3. But I have no actual maps on it, I just see empty space and have all the options for GPS etc. Now I want to use Map loader. It keeps telling me "Waiting for phone' fine I plug in my phone with usb cable, take pc suite, and it just keeps on going "waiting for phone", now when I choose Mass storage mode, I get an error telling me " You have atleast 1 phone connected in mass storage mode, please reconnect your phone and select pc suite" I do that and yep. Keeps going "Waiting for phone".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Mail for Exchange, my company forces the phone to lock after 10 minutes of idle time.When I get a phonecall when the phone is locked, there is no way that you can have access tto normal phonecall functions as <Mute> and <Speaker> during a phonecall. And you can not unlock without breaking the call.Yes when you receive a call ther is a green <answer> and a blue <unlock> slider. Howvever when swipng the <unlock> you can only choose between <answer> and <reject> and there is [Option] that gives you access to <answer> or <reject> aswell.In other words no access to phone functions, No way you can activate the speaker on the phone when you were called while the phone was locked. This is quite useless and in my opinion a design flaw.

It never did this before.I thought it might be loose battery connections so put in some thin card etc but no help. Seems to be fine when on my desk during the day, but as soon as its put into my pocket and walked about then many times it switches off. Am getting no help from Nokia Care. Anyone out there got any suggestions?

I'm looking at buying the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition Unlocked Phone and have a couple of questions.
If I don't activate the phone immediately with a service provider,
- will I still be able to have full access to the internet and email whenever a Wi-Fi network is available?
- and, will I also have full access to the GPS navigation facilities of the unit?
Does the 5800 Navigation model lack any features that are available with the 5800 XpressMusic model? The 'compare' function at the Nokia website seems to show the exact same specs for both models.
i have serious problems after i have updated my 5800 with fw 40.0.005 the phone crashes or hanging with the alarm clock function. Is there any solution to solve this problem?
