Nokia :: 5800 Firmware Upgradation Cause Phone To Switch Off
Feb 10, 2010
Since updating to 40.0.005 my phone turns itself off frequently. It never did this before.I thought it might be loose battery connections so put in some thin card etc but no help. Seems to be fine when on my desk during the day, but as soon as its put into my pocket and walked about then many times it switches off. Am getting no help from Nokia Care. Anyone out there got any suggestions?
recently i had updated my firmware through phone itself, after that its getting restarted automatically once or twice in a day. Since the problem persists i reinstalled the s/w through system also.but the problem is still there.
i bought a nokia 5800 xpressmusic a weekago, in one week my mobile hangs for 3 times and even the power switch was not working so i removed the battery and then switch on the mobile again,my cell os details :
I am using Mail for Exchange, my company forces the phone to lock after 10 minutes of idle time. When I get a phonecall when the phone is locked, there is no way that you can have access tto normal phonecall functions as <Mute> and <Speaker> during a phonecall. And you can not unlock without breaking the call.Yes when you receive a call ther is a green <answer> and a blue <unlock> slider. Howvever when swipng the <unlock> you can only choose between <answer> and <reject> and there is [Option] that gives you access to <answer> or <reject> aswell. In other words no access to phone functions, No way you can activate the speaker on the phone when you were called while the phone was locked. This is quite useless and in my opinion a design flaw.
i have serious problems after i have updated my 5800 with fw 40.0.005 the phone crashes or hanging with the alarm clock function. Is there any solution to solve this problem?
I updated my phone firmware from v40 to v50 over the air. The download package was around 9MB in size. After the upgrade, I realised that my phone did not have all the features of v50 firmware update. For example, features like "Quick Office v4.2 integrated", "Rihanna service launcher in web browser" are missing. Then I decided to reinstall the v50 update through my laptop. So when I connected my phone with my laptop and opened the "Nokia Software Updater" it said that the update package is around 138MB. Now I face a problem. After clicking on Re-Install option in "Nokia Software Updater" the download does not stop at 138MB. Infact it does not stop at all. It goes on like 2MB of 138MB.. 4MB of 138MB.. 60MB of 138MB.. and then 200MB of 200MB... 300MB of 300MB and so on. I decided at that time to wait for some time. But it reached 350 MB and still it did not stop.
So any idea if this is expected behavior or is there a problem with my phone or the "Nokia Software Updater" software. Please note that I have the latest version of "Nokia Software Updater" installed on my laptop. Fortunately, I don't have any serious problems with my phone except that when I click on "applications" icon, it takes some time to respond.
I just bought Nokia 5800 in America. I'm originally from the middle east and I need to write in Arabic when I chat or send messages. the problem here is that the phone reads Arabic but I can't write in Arabic. my question is "Could I use firmware of Nokia 5800 (RM-356) on Nokia 5800 (RM-428)?
If not, could anyone help me and get me the firmware that support writing in Arabic?

If I try and switch an alarm off when it is rining, I am unable to do so using the touch screen.I have to press the red button, then go into the alarms and physically remove the alarm. This never happened with v30 (the last firmware I had)How can I stop it from happening?
When I try to connect my 5800 XM with USB cable, PC Suite mode, to my MacBookPro with Nokia Multimedia transfer 1.4.2 (8184) the device is not recognized. In Mass Archive mode it works. It worked before updating the 5800 firmware to version 40.
Just updated to new firmware 51.0.006 (RM-356) Nokia 5800 and I dont know whether I am just thinking this but the phone seems faster now in operation (maybe with the firmware update it cleared cahes and whatnot maybe thats all it is) - one of the things that was supposed to be changed in the new firmware is browser changes, but I cannot seem to see any diffrerence the layout still looks the same to me. improved mail for exchange dont affect me because i dont use it, improved video call dont affect me because I dont use that, but they did list improved browser and improved performance so thats good anyway. Anyone else tried the new 51.0.006 (RM-356) yet?

Ever since I flashed to the latest v40 firmware, I am experiencing this problem on my phone.
When I access the website www.sbstransit.com.sg/mobileiris, which is to check for bus timings, the webpage shows but I am unable to click on any of the three links on my phone.
Can any users of Nokia 5800 with the latest firmware help me check whether the same problem persists on your phone? I am able to click on links on other websites, but not this one! I didnt have this problem on v31.

I recently upgraded to firmware v50.0.005.C01.01 but ever since I cannot get bluetooth to be on. Whenever I try to switch it on it just pops up with an "unable to perform bluetooth operation”. I did the three finger salute (hard reset) but no joy. Anyone know if there is perhaps some other setting that blocks bluetooth? Or is there some more technical way to find out what is failing?
Even though Nokia has released several firmware updates for the Nokia 5800 (last one just a few days ago), I'm stuck in version 21.2.025 (custom version 21.2.025.415.02).I have tried to update it directly on the phone and also using PC Suite's Nokia Software Updater but in both cases I get a "no new version available" message.
I have Nokia 5800 xpressmusic with Rogers service in Canada. The software version (firmware) on my phone is 21.2.025, and I believe the product code is 0581779. When I try to update my phone by using the Nokia Software Updater, it said that the current version on my phone is 21.2.025 and the latest version is also 21.2.025. So how can I update to V40?
I live in Blegium and try to update my Nokia 5800 ExpressMusic to the new firmware (31.01.101). For the moment I have the firmware 30.0.011.When I check with my mobile if there are new updates, then it says there are no new updates available. When I ckeck on the nokia website with my productcode, it says that I can update to the new firmware. When I connect to my PC (Vista Ultimate 64bit), then it finds the new firmware and wants to update my mobile. During the update, it shuts my mobile down and then gives the error message that he can not find the device. So I disconnect my mobile, restart it and reconnect it. After this I choose to try again with locating my mobile, he finds it and starts with updating again till the part where my mobile is turned off again. So I keep getting stuck in this loop.Anybody knows a solution for this?

I upgraded my firmware to V 50.0.005, cause that's what Ovi store told me to do in order to download ovi maps. However, now, when I open my internet browser it automatically opens full screen which is really not my preference. But when I click "options" it just shuts down. Also when I enter Ovi store now, at first it seems fine but after loading an app page it crashes saying no more than "Something went wrong".
I have recently upgraded my 5800's firmware from V40 to V50 and I find that latest firmware is not as user friendly as V40. The kinetic scrolling feature is definitely inferior and significantly less responsive than V40. Could anyone advise how could I remove V50 and go back to V40?
After doing the update to v40 my alarm does not work properly (on both my 5800's), when the alarm goes off and the stupid orange and red bars come up saying snooz and stop they do nothing ! I hit them and the alarm just keeps going and going, I have to hit the red menu button and it goes to snooz mode, is there a way to revert back to v31 as I really do not like this newer v40 firmware.
