Nokia :: N97 Messaging New E-mail Alert Icon
Jul 8, 2010I have a N97 mini. Very nice phone. took some time to get the messaging to work.But still I only receive the new e-mail sound, but no new e-mail icon is shown.Also I noticed that when I use the messaging screen will my phone is closed the icon's on top (like the sync icon) is not shown. When I open my phone(pull out the keyboard) the icons are shown.Does anybody has the same problem or know how to solve it?

Jan 22, 2010My 5530 is no longer alerting me that i have a message, there is no sound, no pop up message and no symbol at the top of the phone, the only was of knowing i have a message is to go in to the messge menu and look for the start next to the inbox. The rest of the phone is find, alerts me normally when recieving calls.
I have tried restoring to factory setting, hard reset and reinstalling but nothing seams to work.

Jun 21, 2010Can anyone tell me if the XpressMusic 5800 should have an audible alert say every minute or so to let me know I have a voice mail message, I know there is one when the message first arrives? Also the same for text messages, I know there is a flashing button, but I was hoping for an audible alert, not just for when it first arrives?

Feb 29, 2012Steps to recreate the defect.
1. Lock the phone.
2. Send a text message to your number (Nokia N8).
3. When the text message is recieved the screen of the N8 displays the work "popUpClock" in the top left corner and the "time, Battery, and signal" icons on the right top corner.
4. The above message disappears in a split second and the screen remains blank for almost 2-3 mins before shutting off again.The best way to check the duration of the blank screen displayed is to keep the phone in dark.This bug could be one of the reasons for the battery draining for some users who recieve loads of text messages in a day.

May 16, 2010I have just moved from LG touch (hated it) to a very basic Nokia 2220. Previously had Samsung before.
With the 2220, when I receive a text I have set the tone I want however I cannot find if this phone will allow the tone to sound after every two minutes. All my previous phones have had this facility which I like as if you don't hear the notification sound at first it alerts you every two minutes.Is it just this phone or are all Nokia's like this?

Aug 10, 2011Yesterday my N8 stopped vibrating when it recieved a text message , I enabled vibration alert in the profile and checked if it was a hardware problem by calling . The phone vibrates when it gets a call but it doesn't vibrate when a message comes ! I did not install advanced battery monitor also ! I reset my phone and re-installed the latest firmware also , but still the problem persists

Nokia Nseries :: N97 - Screen Sometimes Stop Responding To Touch Input
Mar 15, 2010I have an N97 and every day now the screen will stop responding to touch input. I think this is a hardware issue as I have always updated the firmware as soon as its released and I have the same problem no matter the firmware. Resetting and turning off/on again doesn't solve it. Just have to lock the screen and rub my thumb over the entire screen and it seems to start working again. Could part of the touch screen be getting stuck down?

Mar 29, 2012About 4 weeks ago I purchased three .99cent alert tones (R2D2: Happy, Chewbacca: Roar, and Lightsaber: Power Up). However once I synced my 4s with my macbook the tones vanished from the phone, and no matter what I do (resets, de-selecting sync tones then reselecting it, manually dragging it over to the phone) these 3 tones will not get onto the phone. All of my $1.29 tones still work however.I re-purchased them (hey Apple - how about not making people pay multiple times for tones), and again, the tones worked until my Iphone synced with my macbook, then the same vanishing act occured.

May 19, 2010My Nokia N97 Basically Has No Sound at all. No ringtone, no Sound for music player, no warning tones, no alarms. Nothhin. But all this sounds come on a headphone if i connect it. Jan 3, 2011I use the mail widget on my N8 which I never switch off, only turning it to "battery saving" at night. I notice that every 2 or 3 days, the widget does not launch the mail app anymore when I tap it. Power on/off cycle resumes correct behavior.I am currently trying to find if anything special might trigger the bug, but did not find anything so far.

Nov 6, 2011the problem i am posting here relates to ovi mail software..roblems being faced..1. you can not attach files more than a total of 2048 kb and neither can you download2. whenever you try to download any attachment you get a notification "UNABLE TO PERFORM OPERATION".3. when checking mails that have images attached to it and are meant to be automatically downloaded, the device shows the status of image being downloaded and the status constantly remains idle at 0% and after a few seconds the same notification as you get in the problem no. 2. is displayedits highly dissapointing on the part of nokia, that after a peson who has spent a sum of INR 23,000 is getting such softwares and i really dont think a customer is expecting such softwares/performance after spending INR 23,000 onto just a PHONE.I really dont know whether the customer who have purchased N 8 are aware of this issue persisting in their phones or probably i should say they dont explore thier devices well enogh.I never expected that i will be so dissapointed after spending so much of money onto a phone that does not facilitate me even with the basic functions.And lastly one thing that is relly notable is that the phones from nokia itself which cost between INR 10000-15000 does not have such restrictions for mail.
