Nokia :: 5230 NO MESSAGE ALERT SOUND
Mar 20, 2010I have just got a nokia 5230 but cannot seem to get the message alert sounds to work. The sound is turned up and the ring tones work fine. does anyone have a solution.

Jan 22, 2010My 5530 is no longer alerting me that i have a message, there is no sound, no pop up message and no symbol at the top of the phone, the only was of knowing i have a message is to go in to the messge menu and look for the start next to the inbox. The rest of the phone is find, alerts me normally when recieving calls.
I have tried restoring to factory setting, hard reset and reinstalling but nothing seams to work.

Aug 11, 2010I had bought nokia 5230 recently. I have a problem in setting ring tone and message tone.When i trying to set ringing tone or message alert tone in the Profiles(General) it showing an error message as "Not enough memory to show all ringing tones. only tones in read only memory will be displayed". But my phone memory has 50.1 MB free space and My memory card has 1.2 GB memory space.

On the home screen there is no SMS icon, only way to read is via Messages then options list..view folder..SMS inbox. How do I get SMS arrived alert, and SMS icon on home screen?

May 16, 2010I have just moved from LG touch (hated it) to a very basic Nokia 2220. Previously had Samsung before.
With the 2220, when I receive a text I have set the tone I want however I cannot find if this phone will allow the tone to sound after every two minutes. All my previous phones have had this facility which I like as if you don't hear the notification sound at first it alerts you every two minutes.Is it just this phone or are all Nokia's like this?

May 15, 2010When I first got my X6 I had my message alert set to vibrate and when i received a text message the screen would do so as well as displaying a '1 new message' alert in the bottom bit of the screen. Recently my phone has stopped doing this and the only way I can see I have a new message is by touching the messaging icon and seeing the red asterisk that appears at the top right of the inbox when there is an unread message in there.

It is set to play a sound (message 1), and i've had it for months it used to beep normally but now it doesn't anymore. and the phone is not on silent. It doesn't show the new message icon either. Mar 5, 2010Not sure if this problem is specific to the Nokia X6 but this is really annoying me! I have contacted Nokia through their form as well as speaking to an advisor.
Basically, when your phone has been auto-locked, is there a way other than the ridiculous little light flashing once to alert you to a new message? I often have my phone on silent during the day and can't see this little white light (notification light/menu button). On my previous phone, the whole main screen used to light up when I received a text but I can't find a way to do that on the X6.
I thought I had found a quick fix as it seems to do it if the screen is unlocked then the backlight will go off, however, then the auto-lock kicks in and I'm back to square one again!! Please can anyone advise me on either:
1) If there is a way for the main screen to light up when you receive a message if your phone has been locked (i.e. black screen)
2) Or if not, a way to turn off the auto keyguard lock?
It's gonna drive me completely round the twist if I can't find a solution!

May 12, 2010I recently switched to T-Mobile from Verizon and got the Nokia 5230 aka Nokia Nuron. After the first week my phone stopped alerting me when i received text messages. First the alert tone stopped.than the pop new text message stopped and than the little envelope that appears in the right hand corner stopped.Basically I'd be going to my inbox every 5 mins to see if i had any new messages. I called Nokia support and after trying everything else, we ended up reseting the whole phone.That worked...for about 3 days.Than the problem came back.So i called again,tried everything again and nothing. They sent me a new phone and its been doing fine up until yesterday.

Jul 4, 2010I have never posted on anything like this before so please bear with me.I have a new 6700 slide, but there are 2 things I can't get used to, having had a Samsung phone before.
1. (The worst thing) - if a text comes in, and I don't happen to hear the buzzy tone thing, then I don't get another reminder, and there is no visible sign on the phone that there is a new message unless I open the slide. Even then it doesn't tell me who the message is from and I have to go to the inbox. Is there a way of getting more than one alert? I really don't like this.
2. Every time I turn the phone on it asks me to set up my email preferences. I don't want to use it for email but even if I cancel it, it asks me again next time I turn it on. Can I stop it asking once and for all?
3. Is there a way of marking text messages for deletion, without having to mark just one (very time consuming) or all (which you might not want to do)?
I would be really grateful for any help on one or all of these questions. I really wanted a Nokia but now I am pining for my Samsung.

Apr 7, 2010I have an 5800 xm blue. you could select message tone before but i turned it off only to vibrate. now i got this really cool tone I want to use but when switching msg tones back on it gives me a warning-----not enough memory to display all ringtones, only tones in read-only memory will be displayd. -------- why can't i select and set a msg tone in my music gallery like a ring tone? And how do i get the msg tones to work properly. My phone memory is 48mb free from 86mb?
