Nokia :: N86 - Message Alert Flashing All The Time
Jun 14, 2010I have just bought an N86. The message alert is flashing all the time. I have no unread messages, or draft meesages or items in my outbox.

Nokia :: X6 Message Alert
May 15, 2010When I first got my X6 I had my message alert set to vibrate and when i received a text message the screen would do so as well as displaying a '1 new message' alert in the bottom bit of the screen. Recently my phone has stopped doing this and the only way I can see I have a new message is by touching the messaging icon and seeing the red asterisk that appears at the top right of the inbox when there is an unread message in there.

Aug 17, 2010can we set the message alert of this N8 to make audible sound every 30 minutes or even 5 minutes interval? like if i don't have the phone near me, and i will not be able to check it for new message and it will alert every 5 minutes until i am able to get to the phone and read the message?

It is set to play a sound (message 1), and i've had it for months it used to beep normally but now it doesn't anymore. and the phone is not on silent. It doesn't show the new message icon either. Only way I know I've got a new message is by going into the messages screen and seeing the red inbox sign.

May 18, 2010I've noticed today that when i recieve a text message, i don't get a message tone/ alert. I have checked and double checked that the phone is on loud, i have turned the phone off and even taken the battery out, but it hasnt solved a thing. I now only know if i have a message once i have gone in to my inbox.

Because i put a mp3 tone as the message alert tone, but then my friend texted me, so i didnt get to see her text until an hour later. i tried testing my speakers, nothing is wrong with the speakers.

Jan 22, 2010My 5530 is no longer alerting me that i have a message, there is no sound, no pop up message and no symbol at the top of the phone, the only was of knowing i have a message is to go in to the messge menu and look for the start next to the inbox. The rest of the phone is find, alerts me normally when recieving calls.
I have tried restoring to factory setting, hard reset and reinstalling but nothing seams to work.

Mar 5, 2010Not sure if this problem is specific to the Nokia X6 but this is really annoying me! I have contacted Nokia through their form as well as speaking to an advisor.
Basically, when your phone has been auto-locked, is there a way other than the ridiculous little light flashing once to alert you to a new message? I often have my phone on silent during the day and can't see this little white light (notification light/menu button). On my previous phone, the whole main screen used to light up when I received a text but I can't find a way to do that on the X6.
I thought I had found a quick fix as it seems to do it if the screen is unlocked then the backlight will go off, however, then the auto-lock kicks in and I'm back to square one again!! Please can anyone advise me on either:
1) If there is a way for the main screen to light up when you receive a message if your phone has been locked (i.e. black screen)
2) Or if not, a way to turn off the auto keyguard lock?
It's gonna drive me completely round the twist if I can't find a solution!

Apr 7, 2010I've just got a Nokia E72 and have managed to self teach how to operate all the functions I can see needing, ( no thanks to the paper manual the phone came with). Unfortunately from day 1 there has been a black + white envelope icon flashing at the very bottom of the screen. It can't be reached by the navigator and I have no unread messages nor are the message boxes full.
I have read the manual cover to cover and pressed every help button in the phone to no avail. how to stop this flashing icon as it is starting to drive me crazy. Other than that it seems like a really good phone.

Nokia :: 6700 Slide/ Text Alert / Getting Rid Of Start Up Message
Jul 4, 2010I have never posted on anything like this before so please bear with me.I have a new 6700 slide, but there are 2 things I can't get used to, having had a Samsung phone before.
1. (The worst thing) - if a text comes in, and I don't happen to hear the buzzy tone thing, then I don't get another reminder, and there is no visible sign on the phone that there is a new message unless I open the slide. Even then it doesn't tell me who the message is from and I have to go to the inbox. Is there a way of getting more than one alert? I really don't like this.
2. Every time I turn the phone on it asks me to set up my email preferences. I don't want to use it for email but even if I cancel it, it asks me again next time I turn it on. Can I stop it asking once and for all?
3. Is there a way of marking text messages for deletion, without having to mark just one (very time consuming) or all (which you might not want to do)?
I would be really grateful for any help on one or all of these questions. I really wanted a Nokia but now I am pining for my Samsung.

Apr 7, 2010I have an 5800 xm blue. you could select message tone before but i turned it off only to vibrate. now i got this really cool tone I want to use but when switching msg tones back on it gives me a warning-----not enough memory to display all ringtones, only tones in read-only memory will be displayd. -------- why can't i select and set a msg tone in my music gallery like a ring tone? And how do i get the msg tones to work properly. My phone memory is 48mb free from 86mb?

Aug 10, 2011Yesterday my N8 stopped vibrating when it recieved a text message , I enabled vibration alert in the profile and checked if it was a hardware problem by calling . The phone vibrates when it gets a call but it doesn't vibrate when a message comes ! I did not install advanced battery monitor also ! Jul 8, 2010I use E66 and E52 phones. When I receive a new message, notification light starts flashing on both phones. It is OK. But... I often use Nokia PC Suite for managing my messages. When I read all new messages on E66, notification light automatically changes its self from flashing mode to "breathing". It's fine. But it doesn't work on my E52. When I read all new messages, notification light is still flashing (no "breathing"!) on E52. I read manual and I know that it is necessary to use my phone directly to stop flashing. Why (if all messages has been read)? I think, it correct works on E66. What is the problem? I use latest version of firmware and Nokia PC Suite (not OVI Suite!). I contacted Nokia HelpDesk, but they told me something like "it is not a bug, it is a feature".

But my phone memory has 50.1 MB free space and My memory card has 1.2 GB memory space.
