Nokia :: Problems With New Message Alert On Home Screen ( X6)
Mar 5, 2010
Not sure if this problem is specific to the Nokia X6 but this is really annoying me! I have contacted Nokia through their form as well as speaking to an advisor.
Basically, when your phone has been auto-locked, is there a way other than the ridiculous little light flashing once to alert you to a new message? I often have my phone on silent during the day and can't see this little white light (notification light/menu button). On my previous phone, the whole main screen used to light up when I received a text but I can't find a way to do that on the X6.
I thought I had found a quick fix as it seems to do it if the screen is unlocked then the backlight will go off, however, then the auto-lock kicks in and I'm back to square one again!! Please can anyone advise me on either:
1) If there is a way for the main screen to light up when you receive a message if your phone has been locked (i.e. black screen)
2) Or if not, a way to turn off the auto keyguard lock?
It's gonna drive me completely round the twist if I can't find a solution!
Small question: Can I have the next meeting or next event from my calendar appear on the home screen. From now, I just have the next event for the current day, not for the seven next days (before this nokia I had a WM phone and I can read the next event on the home screen for the next 7 days, it was very fine). I didn't found any parameter on the phone or any idea on the forum.
I just got an X6 and was wondering if someone can answer the questions?I've tried settings memo's and meetings with alarms, however if the phone is switched off they don't alert me when I turn it on. Is there something I can change to do this? When I get a new message and the phone is locked the menu button light flashes. Is there a way to make the screen flash when a message comes in (even just once)? Can I get rid of the 'Add' icon on the front as it's in the middle of my other contacts?
When I opened my browser on my phone I accidentally clicked Save Request on the menu and it left an alert/icon on the home page next to where my message alerts and things are...the icon looks just like the yellow web browser icon and I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of it.Every time I hit Save Request the number next to the icon just adds to the original one-Someone.
i own an N97 its been like 7mnths now its been working well until like since 1 week. the problem is when i get a new message it doesnt appear on the home screen as 1 new message. i have to enter the messaging via menu and then see the inbox to know that i have a new message its rly annoying can anyone plz help me?!
I just got my phone yesterday and everything seems great apart from an annoying little problem! When I am on the home screen there is a flashing message icon in the top right hand screen and when i click on it it says sim memory full - i have copied all my contacts across onto the phone. Can someone help me with how to get rid of it?
Whenever a banner alert appears from my home screen, it prevents me from going to open a different app. This is happened when using WhatsApp so I don't know if it's a third-party issue.Â
For example the banner alert is from WhatsApp, but I can't tap on the app itself, I have to tap on the banner alert. I try tapping on different apps and it won't let me.
I have had my nokia 5230 for about a week now and everytime I would receive a message it would pop up on the home screen that I had received a message and it would tell the name and number. All of a sudden it stopped doing that and now only the menu button flashes when I recieve a message how can i change it back?
When I first got my X6 I had my message alert set to vibrate and when i received a text message the screen would do so as well as displaying a '1 new message' alert in the bottom bit of the screen. Recently my phone has stopped doing this and the only way I can see I have a new message is by touching the messaging icon and seeing the red asterisk that appears at the top right of the inbox when there is an unread message in there.
can we set the message alert of this N8 to make audible sound every 30 minutes or even 5 minutes interval? like if i don't have the phone near me, and i will not be able to check it for new message and it will alert every 5 minutes until i am able to get to the phone and read the message?
My N97 won't alert me to new text messages. It is set to play a sound (message 1), and i've had it for months it used to beep normally but now it doesn't anymore. and the phone is not on silent. It doesn't show the new message icon either. Only way I know I've got a new message is by going into the messages screen and seeing the red inbox sign.
I have assigned a song to my sms/message alert tone, but it plays the whole song when I get a message. How can I set it so that it only plays say 5 seconds of the song?
I've noticed today that when i recieve a text message, i don't get a message tone/ alert. I have checked and double checked that the phone is on loud, i have turned the phone off and even taken the battery out, but it hasnt solved a thing. I now only know if i have a message once i have gone in to my inbox.
I am planning to buy a new smartphone in the new year. So I decided to go for Nokia Lumia series Phones. So I have only two points to confirm. If I buy Lumia 510 or 620. Will they1) alert me instantly if I get a email?2) Alert when some ping me on gtalk or Msn ?) Can I use Lync messenger?
I own a 5230, I want to assign one of my own music songs from library to be the message alert tone. I can find no option to allow for this, only to assign to ringtone or to an individual contac.
nokia 5230, is that my phone doesnt play the message alert tone, when in the settings, it says it is on. Because i put a mp3 tone as the message alert tone, but then my friend texted me, so i didnt get to see her text until an hour later. i tried testing my speakers, nothing is wrong with the speakers.
I have just got a nokia 5230 but cannot seem to get the message alert sounds to work. The sound is turned up and the ring tones work fine. does anyone have a solution.
My 5530 is no longer alerting me that i have a message, there is no sound, no pop up message and no symbol at the top of the phone, the only was of knowing i have a message is to go in to the messge menu and look for the start next to the inbox. The rest of the phone is find, alerts me normally when recieving calls.
I have tried restoring to factory setting, hard reset and reinstalling but nothing seams to work.
I am wondering if it is possible to customize the message alert tone for the Nokia 5800 with my own ringtones that I have purchased - not the default ones that come with the phone. I seem to be able to change the ringtone for calls with my own ringtone files but not for the message alerts.
I bought nokia asha 200 4 month ago. At the first time, the function notification alert me when the message delivered very good. But, after 3 days later, It doesn't work. I update the new version software to my phone 3 times. So far, My phone use the software version 11.56, It still doesn't work.
I have never posted on anything like this before so please bear with me.I have a new 6700 slide, but there are 2 things I can't get used to, having had a Samsung phone before.
1. (The worst thing) - if a text comes in, and I don't happen to hear the buzzy tone thing, then I don't get another reminder, and there is no visible sign on the phone that there is a new message unless I open the slide. Even then it doesn't tell me who the message is from and I have to go to the inbox. Is there a way of getting more than one alert? I really don't like this.
2. Every time I turn the phone on it asks me to set up my email preferences. I don't want to use it for email but even if I cancel it, it asks me again next time I turn it on. Can I stop it asking once and for all?
3. Is there a way of marking text messages for deletion, without having to mark just one (very time consuming) or all (which you might not want to do)?
I would be really grateful for any help on one or all of these questions. I really wanted a Nokia but now I am pining for my Samsung.
I have an 5800 xm blue. you could select message tone before but i turned it off only to vibrate. now i got this really cool tone I want to use but when switching msg tones back on it gives me a warning-----not enough memory to display all ringtones, only tones in read-only memory will be displayd. -------- why can't i select and set a msg tone in my music gallery like a ring tone? And how do i get the msg tones to work properly. My phone memory is 48mb free from 86mb?
I want to extend the alert when i get a message while its on silent. I have vibration on and it just vibrates once and i dont know when i have a message. How can i extend the vibration alert when i get a message?
Yesterday my N8 stopped vibrating when it recieved a text message , I enabled vibration alert in the profile and checked if it was a hardware problem by calling . The phone vibrates when it gets a call but it doesn't vibrate when a message comes ! I did not install advanced battery monitor also ! I reset my phone and re-installed the latest firmware also , but still the problem persists
