I just got my phone yesterday and everything seems great apart from an annoying little problem! When I am on the home screen there is a flashing message icon in the top right hand screen and when i click on it it says sim memory full - i have copied all my contacts across onto the phone. Can someone help me with how to get rid of it?
I have had my nokia 5230 for about a week now and everytime I would receive a message it would pop up on the home screen that I had received a message and it would tell the name and number. All of a sudden it stopped doing that and now only the menu button flashes when I recieve a message how can i change it back?
When I change the theme to 'Shortcuts bar' and go back into 'Homescreen' I am given 5 options to display. Shortcuts, Search, Music Player, Radio and Calendar. However, only 'Shortcuts' and 'Search' actually work, and it doesn' event allow for E-mail notification as an option. Any work arounds/fixes for this problem, or am I doing something wrong?
I am very happy with my 5230, but there is one thing I would like to know whether it is normal or not. My screens are rotating when in turn the device, that is okay, but except the home screen. The home screen is always in portrait mode whatever the position of the phone is. Can this be changed?
On the Nokia 5230 home screen only 4 application thumbnails can be set up. Is there any possibility to add more thumbnails into the applications bar on the main screen?
Can anyone tell me how to put back my calendar entries on the main screen? I installed mail for exchange and I was seeing all my Outlook appointments on the main screen, but then it disappeared. The entries are there, I keep getting the alarms, but to see the entries I have to go into the calendar. It's making me crazy that I can't find the way to get the calendar entries shown on the main screen.
I've tried the search but can't find my solution.Until yesterday my home screen used to show upcoming appointments on the lower half of the screen. It now shows no appointments. I've tried all the obvious things but guess I either have a real problem or am missing something.1. There are loads of current appointments in my calendar. Many on each day and the reminders for those still alarm.2. Home screen is set to shortcut 3. I don't have any apps loaded that replace the home screen 4. settings/ personal/ home screen/ home screen gives me a list of options but calendar is no longer one of them . All I now have are shortcuts, search, music player and radio. I'm reluctant to perform a hard reset or re-flash it as it took me ages to get the internet connection working correctly and I expect a reset will mess all that up again.
I have a question/problem. I set my home screen theme to "Shortcuts bar" and i try to see the five bars that appears In the "home screen" adjust menu. I mark the 5 options but in the home screen only appears the "Shortcuts bar" and the "Search" bar. I can't see the "Music player", "Radio" and "Calendar" bars. Somebody knows why?
I'm using he Nokia Messaging (email.nokia.com) application for push email. Yesterday I added an Exchange account from my company. It installed Mail for Exchange and everything went smoothly. After a few minutes the Email widget on the Home screen disappeared. I uninstalled Mail for Exchange and Nokia Messaging but still won't appear again. I even setup an email account using the phones integrated client and still it doesn't show up. On the screen there's only an empty field, as wide as the screen, which changes it's color on click. Right now the only email app installed is Nokia Messaging.
My 5230 used to display a list of appointments and to-do items on the home screen. However, just recently that list has disappeared and I can't figure out how to get it to show up again. I found it really good to have that list there for quick reference for the day and I really miss it!
I bought a Nokia 5230 in Jan this year. There was no issue for the first few days... Then suddenly it started restarting . Radomly. First when I enabled bluetooth. Then later on it would restart when I changed a setting like Home Screen Shortcuts or Personalised the General Profile ... etc. I am using a SanDisk MicroSD 4 GB card brand new clean formatted. I have only put in music from NokiaMusic and OVI store apps. It has nothing to do with software installed. There is some really wierd problem.
..So , I went to the Nokia Care store countless times, and they re-installed and updated the phone software and gave it to me.. still the same problem.. SO then they sent it to the Delhi Head Office and I got a replacement 5230 !!! And guess what still the same problem !!! Random restarts. I feel there is some issue with the phone software or firmware or there is some issue with the phone accessing its memory card , I dont know. I have the latest firmware update for this phone V12.0.089
I had bought nokia 5230 recently. Not sure if this problem is specific to the Nokia X6 but this is really annoying me! I have contacted Nokia through their form as well as speaking to an advisor.
Basically, when your phone has been auto-locked, is there a way other than the ridiculous little light flashing once to alert you to a new message? I often have my phone on silent during the day and can't see this little white light (notification light/menu button). On my previous phone, the whole main screen used to light up when I received a text but I can't find a way to do that on the X6.
I thought I had found a quick fix as it seems to do it if the screen is unlocked then the backlight will go off, however, then the auto-lock kicks in and I'm back to square one again!! Please can anyone advise me on either:
1) If there is a way for the main screen to light up when you receive a message if your phone has been locked (i.e. black screen)
2) Or if not, a way to turn off the auto keyguard lock?
It's gonna drive me completely round the twist if I can't find a solution!
when i turn on my Nokia 5530 XM i get an eror : "Home screen: function doesn't work on this device" . What's the reason of this error and maybe i could fix it on my own?
For no reason I can tell my email notification bar on my home screen has disappeared.I am left with just the shadowed bar where the text for the email count used to be. When I select this bar it flashes red as if I've selected it and I also get a select vibrate but nothing opens.I have tried switching off the notification in my home screen settings, and the good old turining the phone off and on again.
I have bought Nokia 5230 on 10-Jan-2010, but I am not able to send SMS from my phone, I check the settings of message center (Airtel) and it is fine, but still I am not able to send the SMS. I throws "Unable to send message to <<contact namd>>.
I own a 5230, I want to assign one of my own music songs from library to be the message alert tone. I can find no option to allow for this, only to assign to ringtone or to an individual contac.
I have just got a nokia 5230 but cannot seem to get the message alert sounds to work. The sound is turned up and the ring tones work fine. does anyone have a solution.
I recently switched to T-Mobile from Verizon and got the Nokia 5230 aka Nokia Nuron. After the first week my phone stopped alerting me when i received text messages. First the alert tone stopped.than the pop new text message stopped and than the little envelope that appears in the right hand corner stopped.Basically I'd be going to my inbox every 5 mins to see if i had any new messages. I called Nokia support and after trying everything else, we ended up reseting the whole phone. That worked...for about 3 days.Than the problem came back.So i called again, tried everything again and nothing. They sent me a new phone and its been doing fine up until yesterday.
I have a white screen with an error message stating `app error 523` tried everything including soft reset and hard reset + download from the blackberry site and still have the same problem?
My wife has a bb 9300 3g on os6 and everything has been fine. However somehow she has screwed up the wi-fi settings. The phone will not connect to our home router and displays the rror message " failed to obtain an IP address".I hve tried everything on the phone from
- Removing the wi-fi setting and reentering them. - Entering the details manually - Removing the battery and rebooting the phone - Reinstally the os over the computer
Nothing seems to work. I know the router is fine as I have the same phone and it connects ok along with several other devices.Has anyone any suggestions before I reset the phone to factory setting?

When I start Nokia Map Loader application for dowloading maps on Nokia 5230 I get an error message saying : The following errors occured while transferring files. If the error is not permanent, you can try starting the file transfers again. config.cfg file couldn't been found. operation forbidden config.cfg file couldn't been found. operation forbidden I can't download maps on the phone because the region list is empty (it is not supposed to be). This happens every time I try to use the Map Loader. There are screenshots of the same problem on another forum: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-map-loader-fo r-mac/bugreport/configcfg-operation-forbidden.
I have a song that i downloaded from the Ovi music store and transfered it to my Nokia 5230. It stated that i did not have the correct license to listen to it and that i should try to get it over air. It then leads me onto the internet where i have to enter in my Ovi store username and password, i enter in the correct details but it tells me that i need to allow cookies to access the next page, the only problem is that i have already allowed cookies, why does it not recognize this?
I am using the Nokia 5230. I have noticed a strange thing . When you set the option as 'contacts bar' in your home screen settings , one is unable to see any calendar events (anniversay, to-do) on the main screen. However when you switch off the 'contacts bar' in the home screen settings , you can see all calendar events appearing on the screen. What is the reason for this ? I as a use would always like to see my calendar events on the homescreen. Is there anyway I can see the contacts bar as well as the calendar events both appearing on the home screen together.
