Using a curve 9360, Vodafone. When receiving SMS, no alert sounds or icon shows, although SMS is actually received. On the home screen there is no SMS icon, only way to read is via Messages then options list..view folder..SMS inbox. How do I get SMS arrived alert, and SMS icon on home screen?

However this morning I put my phone on mute and when i received a text message my phone chimes. I turned the sound off and defaulted the messages to silent but it still keeps making the same noise even though my phone is on silent.

I just noticed in my 3gs that once I am in the message thread and the same person replies to my message, the default message tone saved in my setings is not played, instead, it is only like a "balloon sound" / "bubble sound"

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy 5530 is no longer alerting me that i have a message, there is no sound, no pop up message and no symbol at the top of the phone, the only was of knowing i have a message is to go in to the messge menu and look for the start next to the inbox. The rest of the phone is find, alerts me normally when recieving calls.
I have tried restoring to factory setting, hard reset and reinstalling but nothing seams to work.
my BBM sometimes doesn't make a sound once a message is recieved? It will just vibrate.

When she receives a text message, there is no sound/vibrate notification. In settings/sound & notification, the notification volume is turned all the way up, and it's also set to vibrate for calls. She receives audio notification of other messages(Facebook, pintrest). We have Verizon for our provider.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Vivaz no longer alerts me when I get a text, there is no sound or vibration, it is not on silent mode and I've checked in my message settings the volume and that a sound is supposed to play when a text arrives. The envelope that used to show at the top of the screen when I received a text no longer appears either. The only way to know if i've got a new message is to go into my inbox where it appears; the side of the phone will then flash but still no sound. I ran a software update, then a reset and software update, but neither have made any difference.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a brand spanking new BlackBerry Curve 9360 that just arrived yesterday. It is great apart from this very frustrating small prob. I can not customise my message alerts for individual people in my address book. When I click on "try it" only the LED button flashes and there is no sound or vibration. I am trying to get the sound and vibrate to play as "active profile" but it just won't. I can override it and have custom volume and vibrate that plays no matter what the profile but as I sometimes like to set my main profile to vibrate or silent, it won't do.
So far, to fix it, I have tried: Wiping profile and sounds from the blackberry softwareFull factory resetCreating my own profile and using that instead of "normal" or any of the other preset onesLoads of battery pulls before and/or after any changesI have also had a few different people text me to make sure the problem isn't just the "try it" feature. It isn't. The sound that plays is always the default message sound for whatever the default profile is.
SMS tone volume is set on high but still no sound when SMS arrives. I have to look at display constantly. Which settings should be changed how?

Originally I moved everything onto my new phone by using desktop manager but there seemed to be a problem with constant rebooting because it didnt like some of the third party apps. I restored the phone to the original settings but although I have Appworld and Bridge in my list of applications there is no icon for them - i have checked by Show All and they are not there. Both showed as icons on my 8520 and worked fine (I have a playbook too which is why I need the Bridge).

When I receive a text from one particular contact in my phone book, the number displayed is a combination of 4 different numbers, all of which belong to different contacts in my phone book. When I reply the text is sent to the first number of the four which is not the contact who sent me the text! None of these four contacts are connected, nor are they adjacent in my contacts list! I tried deleting the contact affected and then adding back in but this did not fix it. What I want it to do is show the SMS Inbox (which I can navigate to via the folder options, but I can't find a way to set it as a default). Can't work out how to do it either on the device or when connected to the PC.
