Jan 5, 2010how can I make the yellow email or missed call notification message stay on the N900 desktop and not fade out after 2 seconds?

Nokia :: N900 - Notification Of SMS And Missed Calls
Jul 4, 2010The notification icons for missed calls and SMS messages remains highlighted on the 'slide to open' screen. The number of messages and missed calls increase each day. My partners N900 also receives the icons, but as soon as she enters the phone or the messages, the icons dissappear.We both have the latest software. Is there anyway we can adjust the notifications?

Jan 4, 2010The backlighting of my keyboard has completely stopped, along with the notification light. Noticed it a few days ago.I've checked the notification settings and nothing has been changed, but the light no longer works/indicates for any functions. The loss of backlighting for the keyboard is the issue that I find the most concerning. Other than these two issues, I really couldn't be more pleased with my N900 and the Maemo experience.

Jan 6, 2012I switched SIMs on my 9300 the other day and I recieved a new text message on it which I read & deleted...I then put in my old SIM and the alert at the top of the screen (envelope with 1) that notifies you when you have a new message was still there!I have deleted all messages, emails, checked all folders, saved folders, rebooted (several hundred times!) yet the notification is still there.

Dec 15, 2015When I get a new text or email if I unlock my phone and touch the email or message app and read or delete it, it still shows the notification in the upper left. If I then lock my phone and unlock it again it still shows the notification on the lock screen. I have gone and cleared the cache and data from the message app and restarted. The only way it goes away is if I swipe it away on the lock screen or select it from the lock screen and view/delete after it opens.

Sep 19, 2011I get no led notification, screen off or of course screen on. Occasionally the led will flash a single time when the phone goes into sleep mode but no more after that. Not for email, text message, nothing. Tried a reset and no led even before re-installing 3rd party apps. None of the led apps worked either.

Jun 24, 2010I'm having a problem with Skype on my N900 (PR1.2).
The vast majority of my Skype contacts are fine. I can Skype Instant Message them with no problem.
However, there are a couple where when I try and send an IM, I get the message:
messaging_fi_unable_to_deliver_message_contact_unauthorized
I have tried removing the contact (from both my and the remote contact's Skype), and I've readded from my N900 and asked for authorization, and its been accepted, but I still get the error message when I try and IM.
When the remote contact IMs me the message never turns up, but they don't get an error message.
I've also tried it the other way around, where we delete the contacts on each other's Skype, and then the remote contact has asked for authorization, and I've accepted on the N900 - but still the same message.
The remote user us on Windows 7, using Skype 4.2.0.169. It has worked previously, but all of a sudden, it stopped for no obvious reason. This is happening with two of my contacts, who are in two different locations on different versions of Windows. Oddly, Skype voice calls work okay!
I can IM all my other Skype contacts no problem.

Feb 10, 2010i have N900 and i'm facing a problem when i start any conversation i can send 1 msg then receive 1 the second i want to send the phone reflects with error msg(sending failed memory is full delete some data before send or receive)altho i have 26 gb free and i updated the phone to the latest version can any1 assist me with this.

May 26, 2010I am updating my N900 using Nokia Software Updater. It stops at a certain point (at 6.3MB) and then shows error message of slow connectivity.
Inspite of good connectivity, When I try again it resumes from 6.3MB and immediately throws the error. I tried reinstalling NSU but didn't help.Is there any way to clear cache of NSU?

Jul 27, 20101. I got some serious problem here, I am using my home connection through wifi and my N900 is able to receive email from gmail but unable to send out. I checked the configuration through gmail website and it is correct for sure!
2. I tried to share photo using the share via facebook plugin or pixelpipe plugin, I get transfer error! I've no idea why. But I could use my wifi to validate facebook and pixelpipe account without any problem.
What I suspect is the outgoing connection issue. In fact I am using my laptop on the same wifi connection without any issue at all. What can I do on my N900 to fix this problem?I can use 3G to send out email and upload pictures to facebook but I can't do it via wifi!
Nokia :: N900 Stale Email Account Blocking New Service?
Jan 19, 2010Don't know if that's just me or my newly acquired N900..... I used the Nokia Messaging service during the trial phase a year or two back. After the trial was over, and finally the real service became available on the local carrier ( 3 Hong Kong ), I signed up for the service only to find out that the old email address I signed up during the trail period is now blocked. I can add email address that's not in the original trial account, but not the same ones ( got an error message from Nokia Messaging setup on the N900 saying another Nokia Messaging account already taken the email address I was trying to add).
So I went into the email.nokia.com to delete those email accounts (and the status of my subscription correctly shows that it's now operator subscription), but the problem persists. Actually it seems that my N900 email accounts under Nokia Messaging are out of sync with what I can see on email.nokia.com.(I have a couple accounts on the N900, and none in email.nokia.com)

Jan 15, 2010I have Nokia E66 for a year. Since today when I get a new text message, it doesn't show a yellow notification on the buttom of the home screen. I went to the settings and I turned it off and on again, still nothing happened. I turned the phone off and on several times, still nothing happened. Anyone can please help me with this

Mar 19, 2010For no real reason my phone has got sluggish with certain tasks, like the phone will freeze while an sms or email is coming through, sometimes when opening an sms i get a blank screen where the writing should be for a few seconds and general sluggishness.
On previous symbian devices this was largely solved by freeing up some phone memory, is it the same on the n900? df -h / in x term says 71% free. or is this normal for the phone, given i flashed it recently and that apparently made no difference
Nokia :: N900 - After Firmware Upgrade / Lost With Email Client Options
May 29, 2010With the upgrade we got the ability to Delete mail off the server for POP3 (i.e., Yahoo.) But we lost in other areas here is what is happening: I have Yahoo and Gmail through the N900 email client. Both only receive mail when you hit Send/Receive. I have selected in Settings to update email every 15 minutes. For Yahoo it will update (you see the time change) but no mail will show up. So it's going through the motions but not executing. For Gmail there is no update the time doesn't change nothing happens. Every now and again mail will show up during the day very sporadic - certainly not when you have selected to "update" the mail. When you wake up in the morning Yahoo will say you have no mail you can hit send/receive manually but I have had to turn off the phone and turn it back on to get Yahoo rolling again. Gmail will have mail no idea when it came in overnight but at least it's there. I have deleted and reinstalled the mail accounts off the N900 several times to no avail.

Feb 28, 2010The shortcut notification image at the bottom of the screen for my e71 has disappeared and each time I get a new message it doesn't show up anymore. I have to manually go to the messages at the top of the screen and then go to inbox to see the new message when before I could just click the little shortcut that popped up at the bottom of the home screen which would lead me straight to the new image. I've tried restoring the factory settings on my phone and it didn't set it back to the way it used to be. I'm lost on what to do in order to get it back.

First the alert tone stopped.than the pop new text message stopped and than the little envelope that appears in the right hand corner stopped.Basically I'd be going to my inbox every 5 mins to see if i had any new messages. I called Nokia support and after trying everything else, we ended up reseting the whole phone.That worked...for about 3 days.Than the problem came back.So i called again,tried everything again and nothing. They sent me a new phone and its been doing fine up until yesterday.

1) I am unable to work out how to bluetooth mp3 files to another mobile. Ok with videos and pictures as option is there but nothing for mp3's.
2) Can't pair the phone with car kit. I have the password which is the same as previous one but when pairing n900 I get an error message saying 'authentication failed'.
Nokia :: E52 - Notification Light Flashing Even Though Message Read Via PC Suite
Jul 8, 2010I use E66 and E52 phones. When I receive a new message, notification light starts flashing on both phones. It is OK. But... I often use Nokia PC Suite for managing my messages. When I read all new messages on E66, notification light automatically changes its self from flashing mode to "breathing". It's fine. But it doesn't work on my E52. When I read all new messages, notification light is still flashing (no "breathing"!) on E52. I read manual and I know that it is necessary to use my phone directly to stop flashing. Why (if all messages has been read)? I think, it correct works on E66. What is the problem? I use latest version of firmware and Nokia PC Suite (not OVI Suite!). I contacted Nokia HelpDesk, but they told me something like "it is not a bug, it is a feature".
