Motorola Droid Bionic :: No LED Notification Not For Email Or Text Message
Sep 19, 2011
I get no led notification, screen off or of course screen on. Occasionally the led will flash a single time when the phone goes into sleep mode but no more after that. Not for email, text message, nothing. Tried a reset and no led even before re-installing 3rd party apps. None of the led apps worked either.
Now that I've had this happen a couple of times and I know I wasn't hallucinating, I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed it.Sometimes, when I get a new text message, I pull down the notification bar, click the notification, and it takes me to a blank text thread, addressed to the person who sent me the message, just as if I was sending a brand new text in a brand new thread to that person. If I back out of it and go back to text messaging, their name is still showing in bold blue, indicating there is a new message, and I can click it and everything is there as expected.
I have had my bionic now for two months tomorrow and have had this problem for almost the whole time. However it has randomly gone away. This time it isnt going away. On tuesday I was sending a text message and my Bionic froze (data, text, etc as we all know they do because of the software) But because of it a text wouldnt send. I went to put it into airplane mode to kick start it back to life however it got stuck in transition between the two. So I shut it down instead. Once it turned off it would not turn back on. (it still had about 15% battery left too) Once home I plugged it in and turned it back on, It came on I turned it from airplane mode to regular. The text failed to send and I resent it. Since that one failed I have had the message not sent notification at the top of my screen. When I touch it. It says message not available. And sometimes it gives me an error message and shuts down the text message app. I am using the stock app. I have tried deleting all conversations, restarting the phone, everything except factory restart which I dont necessarily want to do.
BTW I spoke with Verizon yesterday about poor service when purchasing the phone and she said that google was aware of the issues with data connectivity but the other issues I was experiencing such as texts and restarts were not something that other bionic users were experiencing and I should have the phone replaced with a certified like new replacement. HA! I said upgrade me to a razr and she said that she could not do that.
Recently I started getting text message notifications when someone leaves me a voicemail. I'm already subscribed to VVM and had never previously recieved text messages when a VM is left.
My Handcent application settings, default message application is set to disable.
The text body reads, "You have x unheard Visual Voice Mail messages. Please select the Visual VM icon to reinstall. Free Message from Verizon Wireless."
OK, so I select the VVM icon and the menu appears showing me the messages new and old. But VVM has no option to control text notifications within the settings. Nor to "reinstall."
Is there a way to turn the text-to-speech options on only for caller ID and text messaging? I don't want the phone to tell me every button I push or screen menu that I'm on. I want it only to read me texts and say who the call is from before ringing.
This botched release of ice cream has taken a lot of time. Support personnel don't know the product. I've been disconnected twice from Motorola personnel. That's an old trick - hang up on the customer in mid-sentence - pretend it's a phone problem - don't call back.
I've figured out most of the goop. The last problem I have is that I do get the green notification light for text messages but it's gone for e-mails. Does anyone know how to get the light back?
Motorola, you did a poor job with this release. Support personnel don't know the product and you are way understaffed to handle all the calls.
Airtime FREE VZW software update! Due to network changes you must dial *228 in VZW coverage area, press SEND & choose Option 1 to reprogram phone.I tried it for kicks. It won't let you on a 4G device with a SIM card. The message tells me "SIM card has activated your service and updated your phone's roaming capabilities."So I guess with the SIM we no longer have to update roaming using *228 as in the past. I am guessing Verizon sent the message by mistake.
Every time I get a text message my screen turns on and off. I don't have this problem with any other notification I get just text messages. The screen just turns on and off in like a seconds time.I dont know if its a setting I might have set or if I have a bad phone.
I am having trouble figuring out how to disabel the text message notification screen that pops up when the Droid 3 is on the car dock. I find this screen to be unnecessary and annoying. It is particularly inconvenient while using navigation. I believe I have been through all the menus, but maybe I'm missing something.
just reporting an issue I have noticed with ICS on my Droid RAZR. If I have a text message conversation open and receive a new message from the same contact, the notification icon pops up, I'm properly notified, but then it won't clear without backing out of the conversation to the higher level text messaging section. I have had success a few times with tapping on the new message to clear the notification icon, but not all the time. This was not an issue I noticed with the previous version of Android.
When she receives a text message, there is no sound/vibrate notification. In settings/sound & notification, the notification volume is turned all the way up, and it's also set to vibrate for calls. She receives audio notification of other messages(Facebook, pintrest). We have Verizon for our provider.
This was possible in Blackberry and I miss it in Droid 4. ... WITHOUT some app... 1. Creating distinct phone RINGTONE for contact GROUP2. Create distinact NOTIFICATION alert sound for receipt of SMS TEXT from contact/group.3. Create distinct EMAIL alert for receipts of any asynchronous MESSAGE (TEXT or EMAIL) from cotact or group
I have had some troubles with my Bionic the past few weeks.I have a Wifi network at home but not in my Office or car.I will keep the Bionic's Wifi at home on all the time, but will turn it off whne I leave. Many times when I will either walk into another place of buisness or just get a text message when the Wifi is off,it will turn the Wifi on.So,it's searching for Wifi and taking the battery life down as well.I have taken the battery out with the Wifi on and rebooted.
my LED light will not shut off rendering what should be a "feature" into an "I'm this close to getting a hammer and going to town" incident.Wish there was a way to turn it off entirely.I don't know what else to check.
- gmail - Gtalk - SMS - Work mail - Twitter (only have the twitter app signed in not the other) - Even power off / power on has no effect
Every android phone I've had (Droid, Inc, tbolt etc) has done this. But none has flashed the LED for hours. I'm not sure if it ever turns off.
I'm experiencing an issue with seemingly random changes to my nofications and ringtone settings. The email or event nofication is set to one of the stock audio files but gets altered to an audio book chapter or music file on my SD card. It's really weird to wake up to a voice reading chapter 14 of a book to me at 2:47 in the morning or to hear one of my music files suddenly start playing out of the blue. And my ringtone seems to bounce around from the one I've selected to one of the music files.
On my original Droid there was an option to select which account I wanted to look at or even combine the inboxes and when one was selected I could set sounds for that account. On my Bionic I couldn't find a way to switch between accounts so I made separate icons for each but it turns out that when I set the sound on one it changes both.
Bionic since launch and recently noticed a problem. When I wake the phone up, the dark blue notification bar is blank across the top. No clock or 4g symbol or notifications. Then after a second or so it rolls over with all the information. It does not do it all the time and the period of time it takes to "roll over" varies as well. The phone is stock and I've never messed with root or roms or anything. I have also noticed sometimes that when the screen is off it blinks the green light. It does this sometimes when I don't have any emails or texts or anything. It seems that if I just checked it and know there is no notifications, but it blinks green, it will almost always do the blank notification thing when I turn the screen on. Anyone else ever have this issue? It is very irritating because I usually look right at the top left of the screen when I turn it on and not noticing the clock is gone,I think there is no notifications.
I get a flashing blue or green light in the upper right hand corner of my phone, next to the proximity sensor. Does anyone know what the notifications are for? I know its for a new message but what color is for what message? I looked all over the user guide but it doesn't tell me which color is for which notification. The colors don't seem to be consistent with the new messages I get.
Over the past two days I began receiving a notification AOL "connection error". I do not believe this is an issue with AOL since other devices are not having the same problem. I tried a battery pull and factory data reset but the notification continues.
I was just using the Bionic to check email when bang, everything disapeared. o email screen, no phone icon or other bottom row and now notifications. All I had was 3 or 4 icons per screen and I could look at the screens double tapping the home and getting the big view. But most apps were missing from the home pages though and none would start. I finally realized that I was seeing a zoomed image of the home page scroller screens.I tried everything to get to the apps drawer but couldn't. I wanted to snap a screengrabber.I had to shut it down, restart and phone is back to normal. The image I'm attaching is mocked up from a capture I made with no background. Wish I could have captured it for real.
I am not rooted and after I updated my phone the Verizon Wireless name is gone from my notification bar and lockscreen! I am starting to feel like Verizon isn't adequate to approve or disapprove of updates if they cant even put their name on my phone.
I had my bluetooth on Connected to a handsfree device. Now I wasn't on a call but the bluetooth lost connection. Now with the standard Widget It had the little green Light like it was on but it Disappeared out of my Notification Bar, and it would not even reconnect even toggling the bluetooth on and off. A reset seemed to fix it but it was kind of Random.
Is it me or does it seem that the battery graphic on the notification bar is not telling the true story? The phone (in settings) and widgets say 70% but the icon is in no way close to 3/4 full. It looks more like 90%. It always looks fuller then the battery truly is. I do understand that 70% can be anywhere between 70-79 but that's not close to what it shows on top. It's like Apple and the signal bars and how they showed higher then reality.
When I get a new text or email if I unlock my phone and touch the email or message app and read or delete it, it still shows the notification in the upper left. If I then lock my phone and unlock it again it still shows the notification on the lock screen. I have gone and cleared the cache and data from the message app and restarted. The only way it goes away is if I swipe it away on the lock screen or select it from the lock screen and view/delete after it opens.
Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0. I receive text messages from work through an email address. I have the address saved in my contacts as an email address. I would like to have a specific notification tone for these messages. Is this possible?
is there a way to get mesage notigication beeps ONLY on getting new text messages, but NOT on getting any email messages? Also, I want to continue to hear the phone ring when a voice or video call comes in.
The motospeak speech ro text app on bionic for tbe most part works great and a lot of features including it reads the incoming text to you bluetooth or speaker pbone it is completely hands free. The huge downfall it is a massive data consumer and with all tbe carriers increasing data charges you almost have to freeze it when not in use because permissions granted give it full access.
