I am having trouble figuring out how to disabel the text message notification screen that pops up when the Droid 3 is on the car dock. I find this screen to be unnecessary and annoying. It is particularly inconvenient while using navigation. I believe I have been through all the menus, but maybe I'm missing something.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNow that I've had this happen a couple of times and I know I wasn't hallucinating, I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed it.Sometimes, when I get a new text message, I pull down the notification bar, click the notification, and it takes me to a blank text thread, addressed to the person who sent me the message, just as if I was sending a brand new text in a brand new thread to that person. If I back out of it and go back to text messaging, their name is still showing in bold blue, indicating there is a new message, and I can click it and everything is there as expected.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get no led notification, screen off or of course screen on. Occasionally the led will flash a single time when the phone goes into sleep mode but no more after that. Not for email, text message, nothing. Tried a reset and no led even before re-installing 3rd party apps. None of the led apps worked either.
View 9 Replies View Relatedjust reporting an issue I have noticed with ICS on my Droid RAZR. If I have a text message conversation open and receive a new message from the same contact, the notification icon pops up, I'm properly notified, but then it won't clear without backing out of the conversation to the higher level text messaging section. I have had success a few times with tapping on the new message to clear the notification icon, but not all the time. This was not an issue I noticed with the previous version of Android.

In settings/sound & notification, the notification volume is turned all the way up, and it's also set to vibrate for calls. She receives audio notification of other messages(Facebook, pintrest). We have Verizon for our provider.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been wakened several times a night by notification tones randomly going off for no reason while phone is docked. Seems a lot of folks are having the same experiences. I expect to hear the initial phone docking notification and the battery full notification is turned off so that aint it. I'd turn off notifications but that's a pathetic fix.

I thought the cradle software was supposed to automatically mute those notification sounds, but there must be something I've not set right somewhere. Anyone know how to fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've searched here and several other forums without success for an answer to how to suppress the notification sound that occurs when inserting the Droid 3 into the HD dock. I did see another thread that seems to mention this but it deals more with ongoing notifications throughout the night and I don't have any problems with that. don't want to use silent mode because I want calls to come through, but I don't want the notification sound to play on insert. I've tried the Bedside dock app becuase it selectively suppresses notification sounds (no email alert, can choose phone or SMS alerts). Bedside works great to handle email notifications but it insn't active until after the dock insert sound has played.This is a real nusiance when my wife is already asleep when I place the phone in the dock.

I have the button unchecked for notification of full charge and I am on my second piece of hardware. Does anyone know how to stop the random notification sounds?

The 2nd time (same day) I hit cancel after I heard the message and since then it will not pop up and read me the message anymore. The only topics I can find on this are how to turn this feature off, I like this feature and want to know how to turn it back ON.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I get a text message from anyone, I get this notification chirp sound that is VERY loud. Once I was walking down the hall at work with it in my hand and the alarm went off. Someone jokingly said it sounded like a pacemaker alarm going off. Anyway, this notification usually startles me and since I share an office with 3 other people in a cubicle, I don't want this notification going off. I don't text a lot thankfully, but when I do this loud alarm really is annoying to both me and I'm sure to my co-workers.
Is there a way to change it to where I do not receive the notification when I get a text message without turning off the rest of the ringtones (i.e. putting it on vibrate)? Or is there somewhere on the phone itself I can change it? Or at least lower the volume of this notification? It doesn't seem to be in direct correlation with the volume of the phone because I've got the ring volume at 1 so I can keep down the volume, but still hear the ringtone when the phone is sitting on my desk. But this notification tone is REALLY loud. My choices shouldn't be "off" and "really loud".
Is there a way to turn the text-to-speech options on only for caller ID and text messaging? I don't want the phone to tell me every button I push or screen menu that I'm on. I want it only to read me texts and say who the call is from before ringing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDroid Razr 16, google speech app - when using speech app to dictate text mesage, and more than one sent to same person in short period of time (5-10 minutes), the first text message is resent rather than the second text message which has been dictated and appears in the confirmation/edit window. Verizon Wireless tech support was stumped, and no help in the online motorola tech support either.

If I want to assign one of these to a call (or contact specific call) they show up in my ringtones choices. But if I go to "messaging" "settings" "Select ringtone" only the original phone ringtones are there. NOT one of my mp3's.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my bionic now for two months tomorrow and have had this problem for almost the whole time. However it has randomly gone away. This time it isnt going away. On tuesday I was sending a text message and my Bionic froze (data, text, etc as we all know they do because of the software) But because of it a text wouldnt send. I went to put it into airplane mode to kick start it back to life however it got stuck in transition between the two. So I shut it down instead. Once it turned off it would not turn back on. (it still had about 15% battery left too) Once home I plugged it in and turned it back on, It came on I turned it from airplane mode to regular. The text failed to send and I resent it. Since that one failed I have had the message not sent notification at the top of my screen. When I touch it. It says message not available. And sometimes it gives me an error message and shuts down the text message app. I am using the stock app. I have tried deleting all conversations, restarting the phone, everything except factory restart which I dont necessarily want to do.
BTW I spoke with Verizon yesterday about poor service when purchasing the phone and she said that google was aware of the issues with data connectivity but the other issues I was experiencing such as texts and restarts were not something that other bionic users were experiencing and I should have the phone replaced with a certified like new replacement. HA! I said upgrade me to a razr and she said that she could not do that.
I once upon a time had a green indicator that lit up when I got messages. Now for some reason I am not getting this indicator. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I should look to activate this again?
View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently I started getting text message notifications when someone leaves me a voicemail. I'm already subscribed to VVM and had never previously recieved text messages when a VM is left.
My Handcent application settings, default message application is set to disable.
The text body reads, "You have x unheard Visual Voice Mail messages. Please select the Visual VM icon to reinstall. Free Message from Verizon Wireless."
OK, so I select the VVM icon and the menu appears showing me the messages new and old. But VVM has no option to control text notifications within the settings. Nor to "reinstall."
Woke up this .morning and had 4 text messages but no notification in my status bar but just y.esterday it was working fine I could get text notification. I did everything reboot my phone cleared cache from recovery and nothing seems to work I checked my messaging settings and its checked for vibrate when receiving notifications but it don't vibrate or nothing. I checked sound settings and they are all maxed out after a reboot, but still no sound until the second text message.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on my second Motorola Standard Dock for the Droid. In each case the dock worked fine for a short time, then phone suddenly stopped going into "dock mode" when inserted. The connection is OK: Still charges the phone. Just no dock mode features, which is why I bought the dock in the first place. Tried every combination of seating while turned on/off, seating then turning on/off, powering and de-powering dock, etc. No dice. Phone docks fine and enters car dock mode with car cradle. Using provided charger(s) with dock(s). Have not tried full reset of phone due to hassle of reinstalling apps, etc., but powered up, removed battery, etc. Am I really so unlucky as to get two defective docks or is there a software issue here?

The vibration mode works fine for me (both call and message notifications vibrate only), but sound notification for text messages when I am in the middle of something. View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the native Text Message application I am finding that for one contact, that I notice, the conversation is not grouping inbound and outbound messages. For all others it is. For example: If I open the Text Message application I can see two entries for the same contact. The first entry is all the messages I have sent to this contact. The second entry is for all the messages this contact has sent me. I have deleted the contact and recreated and it still occurring.
