Nokia :: 5800 Screen Malfunction - Will Warranty Cover And Can Get All Data From It Onto Computer
Mar 9, 2010
I won a Nokia 5800 a few months ago from a Pepsi Competition and the phone has been working grand. Earlier on this morning at some point my screen began to malfunction appearing if it has been cracked. The phone was placed in my pocket and during some point after class and walking to halls this happened. The only other thing in my pocket was £1.50 in change (£1.00 and £0.50) and a plastic card key. I have absolutly no Idea how this has happened. I didn't fall, get mugged, get hit by anything, I just walked back to halls. Has this happened to anyone else and will my warranty cover it?Also will I be able to get all the data from it onto my computer?
Yestrday when i swtchd on my mobile nd i was shockd to see the inner screen cracked !!it niether fell nor hit anywhere hard.. but usualy i cary it in my jeans front pocket..no idea y such a small pressure caused it to crack. the front layer is fine...u wont notice the crack until the mobile is swtchd on..
all other functions r workin absltly fine...excpt fr the screenmy phone is still undr waranty, will this be included in the waranty...if not how much will it cost for rplacing the screen?
for two days a have a serious problem with my N5800 XM because of its touchscreen.Suddenly the screen was not responding anymore to commands because it looked like somewhere on the screen where the dial # is, the touch was making contact continuosly without pressing it. So I can't dial anything because I get only 9 or # , I can't access the Agenda or the Menu.
I currently have a Nokia 5800 (Product Code: 0575581), which is still stuck on firmware version 31. As such I'm wondering if there is anyway to upgrade, if not I have heard about changing the product code of my device but I have heard from some sources that this will void the warranty, is this true?
What i should do, my 5800's right side front cover looks like this Phone: Nokia 5800 and HTC One VNokia 2610 --> N70 --> 3120 Classic --> X3 --> 5230 --> 5800 & HTC One V
Are screen scratches covered under warranty. I've never used anything other than the stylus, it lives it's life in soft case, yet the screen is covered in scratches..especially where the scroll bars would appear. This is my 3rd phone.. the other 2 didn't scratch like this one has.
Few days back I purchased 2700 classic. Its functionality is fine but the outer screen from where we listened the phone looked not totally fixed. There is a gap between the screen and outer cover. Often When I pressed from that side then it lookd adjust (see attached image) I want to ask whether it is as designed or there is some problem?
To protect the phone (with touch screen), do you prefer to use a hard cover or a screen protector? Which one is better? And what is the best way to apply a screen protector?
I transferred an album via 'mass storage' to my 5800 in the usual way. However, unlike before, when I looked at the album in the phone all the tracks are in Alphabetical order, not numerical. Thinking I'd made an error I reconnected the phone to the PC, and viewing the album in mass storage the tracks were still in track (numerical) order. I've never had this before and can't understand why the phone listing in the device should be different from the same file listed on the PC.
My touch screen is not working correctly. In the middle of a message it keeps jumping to the top of the screen and randomly jumping around and pressing buttons it shouldn't. I have tried restarting the phone a few times and still it persists. I have changed the sensitivity of the touch screen and yet it also continues.
Was trying the Ovi maps on the 5800 today in the car, had full strength GPS with no network support. I set it to navigate me home but it kept coming up with the message 'No Route Data'. I have the full UK map installed & it has worked fine all the other times I have tried it out. Still new to Ovi so not to sure what to try.All latest firmware updates installed & latest maps (not beta)
When I slide my keyboard out, my screen instantly scrambles. It is a pitch or catch as to whether or not the screen corrects itself when the keyboard is then closed. If it does not correct itself, and turning the screen off does not resolve the scramble, I have to pop the battery.
After completing a trip to the USA, I found that I had $US150 of data roaming charges that were caused by the Ovi Maps. Going by my bill, OVI Maps tries to call home via the internet once a minute when it is going. Each phone home by OVI Maps was billed for 50K at $US.83 - but over several hours this mounts up at once a minute. The Data usage icon above the Satellite icon always showed 0.0kB.How do I ensure that OVI Maps does not "Phone home" once a minute when the Connection setting in the menu is "Offline".I only want to use the internal memory and all searches were off line when I know that I will have expensive data charges when roaming.Other than that OVI Maps is great - love it and the phone.
I have a 5800 on Virgin with a contract that says I only pay for the internet on days that I use it. However the phone is making 4 connections per hour on it's own so I am paying even when I don't surf. A message relating to "packet Data Connection activated"(or on hold) appears on the phone regularly. Can anybody tell me what it is and how to stop it. (virgin can't seem to help).
I've had one frustrating experience with my phone and it continues to annoy me. Since the past 6 months that i'm using my nokia 5800, one problem reoccurs frequently. Data on my memory card gets deleted by itself every now and then. I lose videos, music and images primarily every time.
The only option remaining then is to run a data recovery software on my memory card to restore to the lost data. This has happened 5 times in last 6 months and I have no clue why. I have seen many other complaining of the same problem in this forum but there's no solution. I hope to find on in this thread.
For your knowledge, i'm using 8gb micro sd that came with the phone and i'm already on FW ver 40.X which is the latest.List of Nokia phones I've used: 3310, 3315, 3200, 6600,3250, N73 ME, N95 8GB and 5800 XpressMusic (currently using this).
I have a issue with my Nokia 5800 XM.instead of resetting in to Factory default.I have hard reset the phone. After that my service provider (Dialog GSM Sri Lanka) send me the MMS,and GPRS settings. But I cannot connect. It says connection not available WEB: anable to perform operation and when I tried to connect the wifi it asked the wap key and wont connect but the wifi icon is displayed on the top and I need to restart the phone to get red of it. This was working fine before.
I have a problem with my Nokia N73.Recently I turned off the phone and when I turned it on again my keyboard wasn't working any more. It only showed the time/date settings (which I couldn't set because of keyboard malfunction). After some time, or some calls received - one part of the keyboard started working - all of it except little joystick) and I still couldn't navigate through menu. Whenever I switch off the phone it goes back to full non-working phase for some time.I can't hard reset it because "green", * and 3 are not working when I switch off the phone, and reseting the phone throug USB is also not working because I can't set my phone to offline mode because I can't use the joystick.
Frequently, a couple of seconds after ending a call with someone on my 5800, the screen is filled with the message "packet data connection active" for a moment. The message won't go away by clicking on the screen. The only way to force it away is by clicking the red button, but that would also take me away from whatever menu or application I was at, so I'd prefer not to do that. Also, I don't want to change to connectivity settings per se, (as seen in, for example, this topic: [URL]). Rather, is there any way to disable just the message?
I ve Reinstalled firmware of my nokia 5800.Before installation i ve synchronised my data with ovi sync via wifi. Now after reinstallaton . ive synchronised with ovi sync btu im unable to get my dtata back.
I'm a 1st time owner of a brand new 5800, this is my first experience with a touch screen phone and I was wondering since the screen is plastic and I absolutely hate scratches on my phones anywhere but especially on my screen, is there a way to put a screen protector on the screenof the phone and have the touch screen still work, will it be less sensitive or will it work at all?
I want to set up my 5800 to work in the car as a music/navigation/handsfree device. I created a Car profile with ring volumes and other stuff set up just the way I want it. However, I cannot make the screen not to timeout and turn off. Basically, the automatic screen lock is deactivated and shouldn't get into way. When I plug the aux cable into the phone I select the Music Stand accessory which is the only one that has a Screen control setting. It is set to On, from the default Automatic. However, the screen goes black anyway, but the buttons stay lit.
i got an iPhone 4 from America as a gift (i live in UK) and recently i was using it as a sat-nav on my motorcycle when it fell off doing about 40MPH. Luckily, the mounted case took some damage, and only the front screen is cracked all over (pretty much all gone at the top, however the display is fine, therefore i believe the LCD would not be replacing). It isn't under warranty any more, i don't have any sort of cover, so i was wondering what the one off charge would be from apple to get the front glass replaced?
Info: iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1, Currently needing repair
I have an LG G3 and every time I am on the lock screen and I cover the sensors (I think it is called the ambient light sensor or proximity I am not sure) the screen turns off, even if I use the physical power button and not double tap to wake. It makes it difficult to use while in an arm band case, also when trying to check it while keeping it inside my back pack since it keeps going off until I take it out and unlock it.
i dropped my Iphone 4, 2 weeks after i bought it, it accidentally got knocked out my hands. The back is completely shattered, and the front has 3 small cracks. As i am still under the year warrantee will apple fix it for free?
My E71 (which I love, btw) has taken on the annoying habit of reacting twice to one press on the left soft key (where 'menu' would be by default). For example: when I reply to a text message and want to insert a smiley, I use that key but it immediately acts like I pressed it twice and thus it sends off my unfinished message.Could this be a software problem? I'm updated to the latest firmware version, 400.21.013 (22 october 2009). Or could it be dirt or moisture inside the phone? If you have any insights, I'd love to hear them.
