Nokia :: 5800 Screen Not Working - Press Button On Left Hand Side Of Screen Chooses One At Right Hand Side
Mar 1, 2010Got a problem with my 5800 - just today, the touch screen has started being odd. It sometimes works perfectly but then i try and press a button on the left hand side of the screen and it chooses the one at the right-hand side. This obviously makes everything very difficult! Any ideas as to why this might be/how I could repair it? I've tried the touch screen calibration about 10 times, it sorts it out for about a minute.I can send it to Nokia to replace but I could really do without sending my phone away

Mar 9, 2010I won a Nokia 5800 a few months ago from a Pepsi Competition and the phone has been working grand. Earlier on this morning at some point my screen began to malfunction appearing if it has been cracked. The phone was placed in my pocket and during some point after class and walking to halls this happened. The only other thing in my pocket was £1.50 in change (£1.00 and £0.50) and a plastic card key. I have absolutly no Idea how this has happened. I didn't fall, get mugged, get hit by anything, I just walked back to halls. Has this happened to anyone else and will my warranty cover it?Also will I be able to get all the data from it onto my computer?

Jan 27, 2010I am having problems with nokia headphone remote problem. I have nokia 5800, when i plug my headphones in my phone i can only hear in the right ear but the left ear doesn't work. If i plug only the headphones without the remote it works on both ears. I can't figure out how to make the remote work in the left ear, is it a phone setting problem or is the remote broken? Anyone else having this problem? I need the remote because if i only use the headphones without it it would be too short and won't reach my ear ......

Feb 7, 2010I've bought my 5800 XM yesterday. Today I was playing some music and noticed that the sidevolume buttons don't work when keypad is locked! It's very difficult to take out the phone from your pocket and then adjust the volume or change the track unless you have put on the handsfree. Please let me know if there is any fix for this.

Sep 1, 2010I have a Nokia 5800 Express Music.For fow days I was facing issue with side lock key button. I took my phone for repair to nokia care center in Aundh. They kept my phone with them for 2 days and returned it to me as it is after 2 days.When I checked on delivery the problem still persisted. They said the key needs to be replaced and will take few days and come back after 2 days. When I went back they said 2 more days, after 2 days they said again 2 days. I had to visit there office 5-6 times just to hear 2 more days.When I tried to escalate using service center they said can not take complient. Just getting frustrated day by day with Nokia service.

Dec 29, 2010I want to change the system font on my Nokia N8 because I don't like it. I don't find it comfortable to read, and I especially don't like that *everything* takes on this font - even web pages which use their own font, in the N8 browser this is always changed to Nokia's font! My research seems to have offered me three options for changing the font.
Method 1: Installing a couple of unsigned apps that apparently only actually works on S60 smartphones and is likely to just not work or even break the N8.
Method 2: Involves copying some fonts renamed to a specific folder on a memory card - however for some bizarre reason if you do this you can no longer access the Ovi Store!
Method 3: Installing an application from the Ovi Store that is designed to let you change the system font, however no one who mentions this says what this app is called so I fear they may be talking nonsense and no such app exists!
So is there any way to change the N8 font that actually works and doesn't mess up the phone?

Jan 4, 2013Three days ago the side lock key on my eight-month-old 701 broke in the course of normal use - I didn't drop it or anything like that - I was just trying to lock the screen in the normal way. There is plainly a mechanical fault as the slide doesn't spring back when you move it.
I took it into Nokia Care here in Taipei and, to my surprise, they told me a) that it can only be fixed by replacing the phone's motherboard and b) that I would have to call Nokia to see whether they were willing to cover it under the guarantee. (It seems that the few remaining Nokia care centres in Taiwan are contracted out and given little or no discretion.) Interestingly they showed me another 701 motherboard with the slide broken in the same way.
Yesterday, Nokia Taiwan called back saying that the limited guarantee specifically excludes damage to the exterior of the phone and that if I wanted it repaired I would have to pay for it.
I have now checked the terms of the guarantee (available in Chinese on Nokia Taiwan's web site) and this simply isn't true. There are exclusions for improper use or modification, acts of god, normal wear and tear, replacement of consumables (fuses are specifically mentioned) and damage to or breakage of aerials, but nothing about damage to switches or anything else of on the exterior of the phone.
Regardless of the details of the guarantee exclusions, I am appalled at Nokia Taiwan's attitude, and would be very grateful if other users could tell me if they have had similar problems with side locks, or with repairs that should be covered under guarantee.

Apr 28, 2012I bought a used 5800, and yes, it is a old, 2,5 year old phone with latest software, works good. Only problem is that the vibration doesnt work. No matter is it on or off on profiles, it doesnt vibrate. And it doesnt vibrate even when i turn phone on, like my old 5230 did always vibrate when it boots up, my 5800 doesnt. What is wrong, why vibration doesnt work when someone calls or sends message, or not even vibrating in boot up, boots normally, no vibration.. Is the vibration function broken?

Feb 3, 2010Okay, I know what you're thinking...USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION! But I have and I have tried all the solutions I could find on google and here. It connects to the car kit alright, and the incoming call's ringtone is heard on the car kit and the call can also be accepted by pressing the green button on the car kit but the call voice (both mike and speaker) remains with the phone and does not come over the car stereo. Mar 26, 2010I often use wireless, but sometimes it has poor signal and is impossible to use so I also use simple mobile internet. Usually the phone using opera mini asks if you want to use mobile internet (not wireless) but now it almost never does, so I get the connection error message as there is no wireless, but I also cannot use my mobile internet. Just today it gave me problems because of that. So bassicly, I cannot use internet, unless I have good wireless signal. And I have mobile internet as priority number 1 in my settings. Dec 29, 2012I've had this phone for years and have got some important info on this phone and i really need it back working.So 2 days ago i dropped my phone from a tall building by accident and the screen is no longer working. When i dropped it the battery came out and nothing else. I put the battery back in and the screen worked for a little bit but there was horizontal lines going across the screen so i turned it off and turned it back on and now the screen shows nothing. The green, white and red lights work at the bottom and the sound works when i turn it on.
