Nokia Nseries :: 5800 - Selected Files Could Not Be Copied To Memory Card

Dec 22, 2010

I'm trying to move a few files around on my memory card whilst the phone is plugged into my pc. There is over a gb of free space on the memory card. I get error: "The selected files could not be copied there is not enough free space on the device".

- I'm moving files, not copying so it shouldn't need any free space.
- Even if it did need free space there is more than enough available on the card.

How can I move files around?

Nokia :: E75 - Does Not Support Sis Files

Jun 10, 2010

I've been trying to upgrade the Ovi maps on my E75, because navigation has kept me saying that I need to renew the license. I went to Nokia web site and found out that I need to upgrade Ovi maps in order to get the free navigation. I have a 202.12.01 firmware and I installed it once again when I had unsuccessfully tried to upgrade Ovi maps. I have Ovi maps v3.01 09wk44b01 (MW OpenGL LM MN) and Map version (OpenBitLM 6.22.5). I've deleted all old maps and started to download new ones successfully over Nokia Ovi Suite. I've downloaded Nokia Ovi Suite and followed the instructions for downloading and installing the newest version of Ovi maps application (I suppose it must be newer than the one I have on now, because navigation still wants me to buy license, I guess it must be 3.03 or higher). I've tried it several times from the scratch, just to make sure I did it right. Of course I've also chosen the right E75 phone from the drop down menu and I downloaded the file nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.2_lm_rom.sis. I double-clicked it and everything seems to be right, but when action on the phone should be required the installation guide says "Nokia E75 does not support sis files". From the sis file name I can only now see that I have this version already installed.Does this mean I can not use navigation for free on E75?

It'd be great to get the free maps with voice navi for my N96, even though I upgraded to the N900 only about 7 weeks ago and that hasn't got it.

Nokia :: 5800 - Full Flash Support - Experiencing Browser Application

Apr 5, 2010

we are living in the times when internet is in our pockets. yet we have a crippled web browsing experience. without full flash support, we are unable to do most of the work, communication, information gathering, nor enjoying entertainment the modern days of internet where speed is the most important issue, website developers just can't deal with mobile versions of websites. not even the biggest sites, like cnn have a capable and usable mobile site.

yet, our mobile phones, such as nokia 5800 (and also the rest of the communicator-like phones) with a serious browsing capability is discriminated because the websites recognize them as "mobile" phones. most of the time you're not even able to browse the "normal" website and get the same experience to move around and even see the same information on your mobile phone.

i'm also experiencing browser application issues. freezes, hungs, because the site cannot coop with the disabled flash light. it starts to load the data, you able to see the flash box and then the browser just stops working. after a long time of exercise on different sites, such as Internet i'm convinced that flash 10 even bring our browser to its knees. the new flash 10 videos totally killing the browser on my nokia phone. and this is not firmware, not memory nor website related problems. it's incompatibility where the site and the browser just unable to coop.time to fix and update browsers in nokia smart phones including 5800!

get rid of discriminating our mobile devices as a"crippled" internet browser and give us the full web-experience.i was a faithfull nokia owner in the past 10 years (!!!!). i spent a lot of money on my phones. i always bought them even with limited information on the capabilities because i was trustful about the quality and feature-rich products. however if this issue will not be fixed on this particular phone because of whatever reason, be it as technical issue (the phone is not prepared for such internet experience), or be it as a way of lacking in development (never ment to handle such internet experience at all) then i have to leave nokia for good.

this is not "silly warning" or an angry and frustrating finger pointing. it just the fact that if nokia forcing me to swap phone, then i cannot trust a company with such business decisions to limit the timespan of their phone in such a way, that would generate more money for them. if this is not the case and we able to finally use our phone as it should work since the beginning then we will be the happiest buyers and supporters on earth.

i'm also trying to send this to the customer support in the good hope that finally we will see some advancement on this topic. i think we, the users, were quiet patient up until now (a year or so passed and still no sollution on this).

Nokia :: 5800 - Playing .Avi Files

Jan 12, 2010

It's sad that the Nokia 5800 in spite of having a huge screen and an awesome resolution doesn't play movies in .avi format. Although you can convert the videos to another supported format, this is really not the solution. This is because of two reasons:

1. AVI files are the most common to find.

2. They are small/compact in size when compared to mpeg4.

I tried installing divx but clearly Nokia 5800 is not one of the supported models for this software. The divx player opens on the phone but you really cant see any controls, so it is basically as good as being non-functional. I have read about some ways to make the divx player work on 5800, but none of them sound convincing.

Is there any player out in the market that can help you play .avi files on Nokia 5800? Or are there any codecs for the phone like the K-lite codec for PCs to make avi files playable? There has to be some way!

Nokia Nseries :: Adding Support For More Music Formats?

Jan 15, 2012

adding support for more music formats? I was reading about the hardware specs of my N8, and I found out that it has a broadcom chip. This broadcom chip comes with some hardware support to many audio format, being more specific, flac. This format is very acclaimed by the audiophile community, without saying I'm one of them. flac is a excellent format since it is a lossless format. Now, knowing this, why Nokia don't add flac support to the default music player? the chip itself support it! What do you guys think about it? How can we suggest this to Nokia?

Nokia Navigation :: Importing LMX Files On 5800?

Nov 4, 2011

I am trying to import a LMX file with 200 waypoints of a walk in Scotland which I wish to do.

Ignoring the fact that this may not result in a useful waypoint file, I have so far created the file in both GPX and KML formats and converted each to LMX format using GPSBabel and then stored the LMX file on the 5800.

Once saved on my 5800, I am able to load the LMX file and end up with 200 discrete POI's in my Favourites (which is not really what I want!) but more worringly, the points when viewed on OVI maps are placed in the Indian Ocean no matter which format I convert from.

If I can find out why the co-ords are duff and get a good output file I will then see if I can create the waypoint file I actually need,

The LMX and GPX files are attached

Nokia Nseries :: Nokia N8 Does Not Support DTMF?

Jun 23, 2011

My Nokia N8 does not seem to be able to do DTMF. This means no listening to voicemail, no using of call centers which asks to enter numeric options, no joining telephone conferecences with a pin and no remote activation of DTMF based server settings.

it can be done and all I need to do during a call is to select "Options -> Send DTMF -> Enter Manually -> * -> Y", because that is stupid. Entering 5 commands to select a single digit is rediculous. It is like saying that I can sail from Johannesburg to Cape Town because all I need is to dig a canal and then build a ship from matches. This much effort is as good as not having it and is entirely impractical during a call with various options i.e. voicemail or call center options.
