Nokia :: 1-touch Dialing Not Working After Software Update On 5230

I just got this phone last week and am quite happy with it. However, I am now having an issue. I updated the sofware through the Nokia updating system through Ovi Suite and now all of a sudden my 1-touch dialing doesn't work properly. I had #2 setup with a name and photograph, but it got wiped during the update. Now I can't assign any names/numbers to any of the 1-touch spots, it just acts like it does. I double-press the number, it takes me to the contacts list, I press the name I want, then hit Select at the bottom of the screen, then it takes me back to the 1-touch screen but doesn't assign the contact to that number. The same thing when I go to Options>Assign, hit the name, Select. Nothing. Has any body else had this problem? If so how is it solved? I couldn't find any mention of it in these message boards. I do use this feature quite often so I'd like to get it fixed.

I have a very irritating problem with nokia 5230 with the latest firmware version. The screen keypad gets locked when I dial a call or when I attend an incoming call with the green call receive button. however when I lock it and unlock it back, the screen keypad gets unlocked. Im not sure if the issue is because of the latest firmware. Is there any way I can move to previous firmware version.

Today I updated my phone (model 5230) from firmware 40.??? to 50.0.001. I tried a couple of times by using the Ovi PC Suite, but it resulted each time in error 12014 (backup of phone succeeded, but update not). Then I switched to Nokia Software Updater (also on PC) which seemed to work great. However, now the media key is not working anymore.

before update I could use smart dialing (meaning by entering member/letters while dialing phone was searching matching contacts and displaying the ones that do match). After update this stopped working. I still have an option to turn smart dialing on/off (when turning on/off I see a change on the screen - the part where numbers show up gets bigger when smart dialing turned off) but there are no suggestions displayed when entering numbers.

I have updated my device (Torch 9810) a few months ago and from that moment on the touch screen is not operating properly. Sometimes it works but most of the times it does not. Also the track pad does not always work properly after the upgrade. Yesterday nothing worked and I had to soft reset the device before considering throwing it to the swimming poolThe unfortunate thing is that I do not remember what type of upgrade I made but it took 2-3 hours to complete.Last but not least after this upgrade my battery dies in less than half a day. I bought a new one and the same thing happens.

Dear Sony Ericsson Support,Today i've updated mine Xperia Mini Pro to the latest ICS version of Android and the touch suddently stopped workingI'm sure that is Software fault and not Hardware fault, cause with 2.3.5 it was working.Any ideas how to repair my phone?I need to send it to a Service Centre?

Checking my phone, it told me there was an update available. I used the PC connect software to instal the update, following all instructions exactly. The update was applied and the phone shut off. I restarted the phone as instructed, and after a few minutes the update appeared to be successful. However, when I tried to use the phone I discovered that I could not unlock the screen! My first thought was to restart the phone, but without the touch screen, I can't even turn it off! It seems like my only option at this point would be to remove the battery to kill the power, replace the battery, and try restarting the phone.

My cousin bought a new 5230 mobile for me from gulf.wen i resived the mobile display is not working. blank screen.when i give little pressure to the any side of the mobile display wil work perfect as good mobile.wen i release my hand the display wil go .iam frm india .can i get warrenty here.i visted nokia care many time.thay are not agree for giving warrenty here.

My 5230 will sometimes freeze. At times it will restart by switching off then on. At other times I need to remove the battery then refit it. This problem happens quite randomly even when accessiing text mail. I have downloaded the latest software and it still does it. The phone was purchased in February. Can anyone please help

I just got a new Nokia 5230 and I was going through the Ovi Suite to backup stuff (worked well) and then went to the software update part (since I found that there was a newer software version available compared to the one that came with the phone).While updating (through the Ovi Suite software update part, not through the NSU), there was an error and the update failed (I think) and the phone froze. Since I didn't know it's better to wait for a while before doing anything, I immediately took off the USB cable and went through the hard reset part, remove the battery and put it back on, etc.Nothing worked and the phone doesn't turn on at all.Is there anything I can do? I saw some posts on the web about using external software's / applications to flash the phone, etc. But I don't want to get into those things before trying out the proven ones - meaning, dropping a word here, and going to the Nokia Care point. I cannot go there till Monday, so I was wondering if there was anything I could do to try and bring back the phone to life?

I have a Nokia 5230 new phone which I purchased during March-2010. Yesterday, I update the firmware of my phone from v12.0.089 to v20.0.005.The update was done through the Nokia Software Updater and it was successful. However, after that the phone started behaving abnormally and it is getting restarted automatically. For example: whenever any call is coming and I want to receive that call, i click on the receive call button and then the phone gets restarted automatically. Similarly, even if I reject the call, it restarts.Kindly let me know what is the issue and how to fix the same.

There is an annoying beep sound during calls and the volume control is automatically at the maximum. When I try to bring down the volume using the volume control switch on the side, the volume bar slides all the way to the very lowest and not in steps.I tried googling but I could not find anything.Can someone please suggest what to do?

After I updated my 5230 firmware to V 51.0.002, all my music album art is jagged / too sharp / resized incorrectly. Is there a way to fix this? Or should I just downgrade the firmware back to the previous version? If so, how do I downgrade?

I have buy nokia C5-05 on 05 march 2012 with in 15 day the touch screen problem arise.for repair i submitted my mobile in shahajanpur Nokia care.after 1 month 10 day i received my mobile the nokia care worker told me that they have install a new touch screen.so the mobile touch screen will work properly.but with in a day the same problem a rise with the mobile. so i have again resubmitted 3 time in nokia care,but my mobile touch screen not working properly, changing the mobile touch screen.Or i will file a case in consumer court.

Couldnt use touch screen at all suddenly today, I reinstalled the latest firmware update but it didnt help so did full reset and now Ive got the countries screen but can only scroll down 3 countries and cannot select any (select and cancel dont work) also the media bar keeps randomly flashing onto the screen. Anyone any idea what's causing this? It hasnt been dropped or anything, first I knew was I couldnt turn off the alarm this morning. I dont know how to go about getting it repaired as it was a competition prize in july 2009 and didnt come with any warranty documents.

Nokia this time has let me down especially on this phone. They have proven to have failed these touch screen phones. It is my first time to by a nokia touch screen phone and now the touch screen is not working any more. I tried to update the software to version 6.but no change. I feel robbed by nokia as I wasted my money on this phone. Now I can not unlock the phone, I have to switch off the phone and I cant type or save a number,I cant view missed calls and messages. I have send it to techinicians but all the touch screens they tried did not work It records 3gp video files only not mpeg4?

When typing a message or selecting a location on the menu it often takes me up to six pressings on the screen. When I first got it the phone was perfectly fine but now the phone seems to be ridiculously frustrating, time consuming and has no purpose to me at all

Have anyone else noticed that when you plug in the charger the touch screen slows down and doesn't respond properly especially with swiping and scrolling? E.g. instead of swiping it selects item.Try it with lists or a webpage and you should notice that, if you have the same issues.

Since upgrading the phone to V21.0.045 I've had intermittent problems with the touch screen vibrate stopping working, which has fixed itself after a reboot. Also the unreliable slide lock problem has returned with this update. Now, as of this evening vibrate and even the small kick given when you switch on has stopped working. Not fixable by a reboot or taking the battery out.
I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue, simply worn out after 7 months or to do with V21? Can't reinstall V21, the new version of updater won't let me do it.

The dedicated media key on my new X6 16gb (firmware v12.0.091) suddenly stopped working. When I press it ,still get vibration feedback to indicate a key press has occurred but the pop down menu no longer appears. Can't link it to an specific event. Was working originally, now it isn't.

I was a proud owner of the Nokia X6 since June 2010 till now recently. Every time I send an SMS or edit a contact, it restart itself. Everytime....
I took it back to MTNSP and they told me it cannot be fixed and they gave me a new handset.
The new handset: Now its a new problem, everytime I download software from Ovi, it start hanging, touchscreen not working. I switch it off and on again and it works for about 30 seconds and hangs/freezes. It does this everytime. I tried to delete the programs again but it keeps on doing the same thing. I tried to scan with antivirus program but still no solution

I was taking a shower; the Lumia 900 on the bathroom counter like I've always had my iPhone 3G. I got a call, dried off, used it, and the buttons on the phone became frozen and all touch input was no longer working. I finally soft reset the device by holding down the power button for 15 seconds (ignore the pull down to shut down tile, you can't drag it) and reset and it works again, but I am concerned. A little bit of humidity seems to have knocked it out, but it may be a coincidence.

I just purchased a nokia lumia 800. But i have noticed a problem with the touch detection on the screen.
When i swipe (ex. for scrolling on the app list) then the phone some times detects the swipe as a tap, and then might open an app og an URL, or what ever is under my finger when it happens. This behavier is very random, and usually happens at the start of swiping (eg. detects me putting my finger on the screen and not lifting it again, but swiping, as a tap).

I just bought a 5800 Xpressmusic and am going through the learning phase of how to use this phone. So far pretty pleased with what I have figured out how to use but have run into a couple problems. Not sure if I have set up something wrong or if there may be something wrong with the phone. The first problem is the touch screen functions (i.e. answer, silence, options, reject) do not work when I get a call. So sometimes when I hit the "green" button if will connect, but sometimes it will hang up on whomever was calling. I am using AT&T as my provider. The second problem that I am having now is playing music. It used to work, but now it will not play any songs that I have loaded thorough Ovi program. Even the "back" function key is non-responsive, however, the "option" function key does work.
