Motorola Photon 4G :: Apps Do Not Stay In Group - Just Disappears After Little While
Sep 18, 2012I have used app groups heavily on my Photon. They always worked great. This weekend I decided to do a factory reset. (My boot time was really really slow). After the FR I tried to set everything up just as it was before. But now I add apps to the app groups and after a little while, most of them disappear from the app group. The apps are all still there and visible in the All Apps view. But I put six app in an app group and a little while later there are only 2 or maybe 3 or none. I tried rebooting and that didn't work. I decided that something might have gone awry with the FR so I did another, but the problem remains.
Everything else with the FR went fine except one thing. The ROM has an older Google+ app with the older icon. I updated it, but the icon didn't change. I ran it and it is indeed the new app. But the old Icon remained. I went into Play Store and uninstalled the update and re-installed it. And when I try to open the app from the Play Store, it says the app can't be found. It works fine from the launcher (stock launcher) but not from the Play store. Then a few hours later, the icon changed to the new icon. This happened with both Factory Resets. It didn't happen to any other app. Everything else is fine... And my boot times are now much shorter.

Aug 11, 2011I had an EVO. it synced all my facebook contacts with my phonebook contacts. So i could look at pics and statuses from my phonebook. Im assuming this phonebook doesnt work that way. it added facebook contacts before i got to add my real contact list. so now there are doubles of some ppl . and some of my contacts that dont have their phone #'s on fb, i cant link them to my contacts like the EVO would. Also, some contacts that i had linked to facebook show up now with a NOTE under them with a HTClink:for their facebook. (if you can understand that) Also the contacts that say they do have a facebook. when i click go to their page. its just goes to mine. so the links must be screwed up.

Jan 24, 2012using Photon 4G with Airtel prepaid sim with system version 45.3.6.MB855.Sprint.en, Whenever I run short codes (USSD codes) like *123# to check my prepaid GSM balance or interact with service provider by *121# it takes long time showing USSD code running.. and after few mins either shows MMI successfully complete or MMI failed but doesnt actually show the text which is shown in my other GSM phones; to query balance or activate some service. Tried forums but no concrete solution.

Mine seems to hang at night (seemingly about 20min after I plug it in for charging) and stays on yesterdays date and time until somehow it corrects itself the next day. There is no way to "activate it" or make it correct itself. All other clocks and calendars are correct.

Jan 23, 2012I have a Sprint Motorola Photon 4G and I am using it in Brazil with a Claro SIM Card. The phone reboots itself sometimes when I try to make or receive a phone call (2 or 3 times a day). I know this is happening to other Photon owners and I already tried the factory reset twice. My build # is 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6. Does anyone know a fix for that?

Jan 9, 2012I have a major issue with my corporate exchange calendar. If I accept an invitation to a meeting, the phone makes me the organizer of the meeting. This syncs back to my corporate calendar. This is obviously completely wrong. If I delete the meeting on my phone, or on my computer, it sends out a message to everyone that was on the meeting saying that it was cancelled. If I need to adjust the meeting only on my calendar, it sends out an update to everyone. It has caused a lot of confusion for me and my work colleagues.

Oct 28, 2011Has anyone seen / experienced this? When I have my photon in the car dock and using the GPS, I am unable to receive incoming calls. My girlfriend has called me for the past three days and she says my phone rings and rings and goes to voicemail. I have Sprint Service. I am not using TeleNav or any other navagation, I am just using the GPS mode and Bluetooth is also running. I dont have any other issues with not receiving incoming calls unless its in the dock.

Aug 14, 2011I noticed that whenever I am making/receiving calls, the screen flashes every few seconds. I wonder why it is doing that. I have never seen this on any other phone before. At first I thought it was related only to the silent call issue that the screen flashes every few seconds but even when I am able to make a regular call it still does this.

Jul 3, 2012I have a Photon that is at best qurky. I did a full factory reset about a month ago. the last couple of days the phone has been freezing with the alarm. the alarm will go off and I might get one or two snoozes out of it then the display freezes and is unresponsive. O can push the power button to get the power off menu but the screen will not respond to allow a power off, I must remove the battery to reset the phone.and as anyone who has a Photon knows how much fun putting the back on is. Any ideas.again this is a pretty fresh reboot and I do not have near as many apps running as before the reboot

Sep 16, 2011Anyone used or using Drive First?I installed it, was using it, but just too much for me, I already use a car dock, motospeak and bluetooth.(Yes, trying to be safe).It just does not intrgrate well with Google Voice.Anyway, it seemed to install an app when I signed up for it, the app is called Smart Device Manager.After cancelling Drive First it continues to lock my screen when the car moves.I figured out which app is is, but the only available option is "uninstall updates" and it keeps wanting to re-update the app after I uninstalled updates. I have uninstalled updates and reinstalled a few times, but it seems that app is dug in there, and won't leave.Because Sprint customer service has NO CLUE (after 4 reps) how the app works, or how to get rid of it?

If I shut it down again quickly it stays off the second time. I know not a Xoom but both Motorola Android ... makes me wonder. Seemed to start after leaked GB upgrade. Jun 15, 2011I'm trying to see if anyone else is having this issue. My Wifi Xoom will not stay powered off. I tell Android to shut down and it does, but then immediately powers back on. Has anyone seen this before? I have sent the device back to repair 2 times now and I get it back and it is fixed for a day or two and then starts rebooting itself again! (Note: I'm not talking about random reboots, just when I try to turn it off. I need to turn it all the way off so I can save battery, can't charge every day).

Apr 17, 2012I have a Droid 4 for my phone, my computer is a desktop running Windows 7 64 bit ultimate. I've tried to connect to MotoCast both wirelessly and with the USB cable. I Uninstalled it and redownloaded it. The part on my computer refuses to stay online, even when I am in MyMotoCast browsing through the files! I have all the settings allowed, it's on a clear port.I gave up and removed my SD card and manually loaded movies and music onto the card, and popped it back into the phone, it was much quicker than waiting on MotoCast's 10 seconds of connect time every time I reset it.
I also find that trying to rearrange a playlist gets buggy after a couple songs. Why is it designed to rewrite the whole 5(ish)kb that is the song to a new location rather than just relink to it? For every OTHER application, a playlist is a series of links that point to your songs. What it is NOT is a physical arrangement of those songs. Why is my phone's playlist a physical arrangement of those songs?

After ICS update in November i have to toggle Airplane mode on and off to get wifi connection back after a period of not useing it on my phone .
My wife was reluctant to update hers when I did as she doesn't like change. However over time her phone kept droping wifi network connection. I would have to power it down and remove battery and sim card to get it to stay on wif for a few days. Finaly that was no longer a fix. I went to a AT&T hotspot and downloaded the latest ICS update.on her phone No matter what I do it will connect to our network wifi and bring in mail etc for about ten seconds then the singal bars change from white to blue, The settings menue shows wifi still on blue connected but the signal bars shows blue. Her data use would indicate it is indee using cingular data.

I need the wifi because ATT will charge you your first born for data usage. MOTO current Android version says 2.2.1. I dont want to be violated.
