Motorola Photon 4G :: Screen Lock During Call?
Nov 17, 2011I use my phone with a wired headset (no hang up botton on the headset). This also happens on speaker phone. If I'm on a conversation for several minutes and its time to hang up--I have to unlock and enter my password (required for corporate activesync) then push the end call button. This makes hanging up an awkward process--having to fumble around for several seconds while the other party gets to listen to you doing it. The lock doesn't happen all the time.
But one way for sure to recreate the behavior is to:
1. Set your screen timeout to 15 seconds.
2. Call the phone from another line. Answer phone and put it on speaker phone. Or use wired headset as I do.
3. Wait for screen timeout or just press power button while on the call. Now wake the phone up. The phone may or may not be locked now. But if you now press the Home softkey, the screen will certainly lock....while you are on a call! This means you know have to slide the lock and enter security code just to hang up on someone.
A better practice from a design stand point is that the phone should never lock while you are on a call. What purpose does it serve to lock while on a call? When it locks you can neither hang up, push dial tones, answer call waiting, etc. until you unlock it. This needs to be fixed.
Motorola Photon 4G :: Pattern Screen Lock Bug?
Feb 7, 2012I've been using the pattern screen lock since I got my mopho in november. It's been working smoothly until now. I recently decided to change it, so I go to settings put in a new pattern and confirm it no problem. I locked it to try it out and now when I press on the first circle it doesn't light up and it doesn't show a trail behind it. The screen also shuts off in 3 seconds. Now I can't unlock my phone. I'm not running any lockers or launchers just stock android. I searched google and these forums for lock screen bugs but I haven't found anything similar to my situation.

Sep 3, 2011Not sure if this is a configuration issue, faulty phone, or known bug, but my Photon's screen does not automatically unlock after pulling the phone away from my head after a phone call. My wife's Nexus goes dark (locks) during a call, and the screen comes back on (unlocks) after her call is complete.

Oct 5, 2011I often switch the feature to have to slide the screen lock to use the phone on or off. It's currently off and I can't find the menu item to turn it on again! Where was it again? I've got a standard Motorola Defy 2.2.By the way - the only reason I'm always switching it around is because when I'm expecting a lot of calls/texts, I turn it on. Because when I get a text and the phone's in my pocket, I often press something when taking it out as getting a text/call unlocks the screen.For the rest of the time - I find it irritating to have to press the power button and then slide the screen - why both? It's not like it's hard to accidentally press the power button on the Defy!In a way - that "in pocket detection" option sounds ideal but I found it kept cutting in when I didn't want it to.Maybe I can do something with that "tasker" app so that when I press the power button, it unlocks the screen.where is that screen lock option again?

Aug 14, 2011I noticed that whenever I am making/receiving calls, the screen flashes every few seconds. I wonder why it is doing that. I have never seen this on any other phone before. At first I thought it was related only to the silent call issue that the screen flashes every few seconds but even when I am able to make a regular call it still does this.

Jun 3, 2011I got the 2.3.3 update on my Droid X and now Corp Sync is completely broken. My company uses a self signed certificate so in 2.2 I simply selected "Disable Verification" when the prompt appeared. Now, when you select "Disable Verification" it simply prompts you again, and again, and again, and again. I sat there selecting "Disable Verification" non-stop during an hour long TV show without getting anywhere.
I have completely flashed my phone back to factory defaults but it's still broken. 5/5 coworkers with a Droid X could sync in 2.2 but also lost the ability to sync as soon as they took the 2.3.3 update. So now we're all screwed.I've seen people suggest using Touchdown. We installed it on a 2.2 phone, verified it worked, upgraded to 2.3.3, and now it won't work either. The only fix I've seen so far was somebody that hacked their phone and reinstalled the 2.2 email application. I'd rather not void my warranty and risk doing bad things to my business phone.

Aug 9, 2011I finally received the docking station, keyboard, etc.. but when docking my only options are Photo gallery, Music, and Mirror -- no Webtop.If I manually launch the Webtop Connector application, I simply get two tabs: "Webtop Sessions" and "Webtop Bookmarks" -- and the Sessions tab says, "No webtop web pages to resume; an a link to "Learn more about Motorola webtop." -- which is just a video that trys to tell me what great capability I'll have once it actually works.When I check the running services and applications (under Manage Applications), there is a Webtop service, but it shows 0.00B - presuming that it means it is not running or taking up space; and a Webtop Connector application showing 28.00KB.

Aug 1, 2011I have been using the HTC EVO for about a year now...I picked this phone up yesterday and I really enjoy the Photon. I have installed SPB shell for my interface because I just don't like the form and function of the UI that comes with it. Everything seems to be just great with the phone. The battery life is much better than the EVO. I have had moderate to heavy use of it today since 6:00am and after 9 hours of use I'm down to 30% of my battery life. I also have my corporate email set to push, with gtalk usage (without the video, i noticed that that issue was addressed), texting, voice calls and some internet usage.

Sep 2, 2011When leaving a voicemail for someone, often times they call right back while I am leaving the voicemail. I curently only get the option to answer the incoming call or ignore it. Is there a way to disconnect from the first call and answer the incoming call? Right now I have to "ignore" the incoming call, then "end call" that I am on and then call the person back again -or- "answer" the incoming call and leave the voicemail hanging. Seems there would be an option to end current call and then (or in the same action) answer the incoming call.

Oct 12, 2011I'm having a problem with the new Android, 2.3.4 while using ActiveSync to connect to my corporete email on Exchange Server ... A corporete policy gets pushed to my phone and I need to accept it. OK, no problem ... I accept it, but the Lock screen settings ( under Settings -> Location And Security -> Change Lock Screen ) only allows the "Password" option, saying the other options,e.g. the PIN way is remotely disabled by administrator, although that is NOT the case. I've double checked with our system admins on this.Our system admins are NOT forcing the "Password" option ... they're OK with just using the PIN, and I had it like that, in the old 2.3.3 version !For this setup ... this will display the long PASSWORD for lock-screen, instead of just a PIN which is what I prefer to to use instead:
* Android 2.3.4
* gingerbread.xwki4 on Samsung Galaxy S2
* Exchange 2007 sp3
This policy is NOT forced by our admins, since this is the policy:Here are my complete Password tab settings on the server, so you can see the admins are NOT requesting this long password ( PIN is enough! ):

When I press C and connected the cable the software checked connected phone and replied product can not be identified, remove the cable and reinsert the battery. I did so. But now phone is not working when I try to switch it on, the screen just blinks with a light but no text on the screen. Google Nexus 5 :: One Volume To Rule Them All?
Feb 7, 2014So one thing I really dislike about the nexus 5 and pretty much all Nexus I've owned, the volume Controls. If I'm in a place that needs my phone to not startle people I would want it to not do so. When I lower the volume it only lowers the "ring tone" and not alarms and notifications. Is there any way that when I lower the volume to vibrate or mute using the volume rockers to have it for ALL (ring tone, notification, alarm) at once? It's been bugging me for a long time, but I've had enough.

The the only way to unlock the phone is to keep the power button press as is Im about to turn the phone off, and then cancel....then I get get the pattern unlock screen.

Today the screen will not go to sleep/time out. i checked the settings, it was still set to one minute, so i changed it to 30 seconds ..didnt help. I did a battery pull.Screen on. However the phone is working fine. For example my phone was ringing and i imagined the phone screen working and BAM i'm on the phone speaking as if this phone worked at 100%.
