Motorola Motoactv :: Using It With A Bike Trainer?
Jun 8, 2012
I have been running with my MotoACTV, and it's been great. I recently hurt my foot though, so I am wondering if anyone has tried using their device with a bike on a trainer. If so, does it still collect information correctly even though the bike is stationary?
I've just tried to do a cycling fitness test in a gym on a standard gym bike bike (lifecycle fitness) but it wouldn't let me start with just a HRM , it gave me a message saying I had to have a Bike Sensor. So is there no way to do a fitness test on a bike without having to spend more money? I do have a road bike, but I'd like the option to do this in a gym without shelling out more.i can see theres "stationary bike" profile, but this doesn't have the option for a fitness test.(BTW - I also tried a quick start indoors cycling workout and got the same message (connect a bike sensor to start an indoor ride)
how to easily switch bike profiles? I have two bike profiles set up, and when I start a workout I would like to be able to select the bike profile for the bike I am riding. I can't select the bike when designing a workout in the portal, and the only way to change the bike on the device is to change the default bike in the settings prior to starting the workout. Seems like it would be simple to just tap the bike profile and switch to a different bike before you hit the start workout button.
I would like to know if I can rename the Bike Profile names. I am getting My Mountain Bike8 now and how can I reset to become My Mountain Bike1? I have already deleted/forgot from My Mountain Bike1 to 7.Moreover, from the attached photo which I captured from your website, the names of the Bike Profile seem modifiable. How can I do that?
Am I missing something here? Should the MotoACTV bike speed/cadence sensor be tracking power/watts itself of is there another accessory that I need to get? It's recording all other info without difficulty. I've only used it about 3 times but always get a 0/0 when it comes to the power/watts reading.
I've owned the MotoActv for two month, I got the mysterious "moisture issues" that everyone seems to be getting even though I've never used it in the rain. But the thing that is driving me nuts is the music. When I hit random shuffle of all my songs, I hear songs I don't want to hear... song that I do not own on my computer. Where are these songs coming from? Today I heard "Boot Scoot Boogie!" I abhore country music as does my wife. Doing a computer wide search shows no evidence that the song exists on my computer. Yet there it is playing in mile four. Other mystery songs have showed up too. The performance music playlist seems to be filled with songs I never heard of, yet evidently I perform well to them.
Let the developers know what new innovations you would like to see in Motoactive. Let them know what Apps, websites, hardware features that are out there that you love and would like to see incorporated into Motoactv.
This has been frustrating me for the past 3 hours. I just opened my MotoActv today. I plugged it into my computer, installed Motocast, and set up my Motocast ID. I can sign into mymotocast.com just fine, but cannot sign into motoactv.com. It gives me the message "Invalid credentials. Please try again."
I see that people say they use the MA as a watch. Perhaps it's a problem with my unit, but if I wear the MA as a watch, no Bluetooth, no music etc. I have it timed out at 15 secs (makes a boring watch) and the brightness guite low... it never lasts the whole day before I have to recharge it. Seems a bit pointless having a "watch" that runs out of power before the day is through. If you use the MA simply as a watch (ignoring the silly steps counter which can't be turned off!) how long do you get?
The unit worked normally for my workout yesterday. This morning I tried to turn it on for my workout, and nothing happens. I plugged it into the computer to see if I had inadvertently killed the battery. The white charging light comes on, but the display doesn't show the battery percentage graphic, and nothing happens when I push the power button. The Motorola charger is at home, so I can't try that until after work.
Just installed the Motoactv, all OK except for the FM, it doesnt work at all, earphone connected, it senses the connection since it report no signal when I take it out, but it cant find any stations
Just got my motoactv, and want to do the PC setup but when I plug it in it doesn't seem to be recognized at all by the PC. Is there anything I can do to get it to connect?
I've tried 2 different pc's and get the same thing on both..
my device is 3 weks old ; working fine until today
running with gps and it just stops and restarts a new run or randomly exits the run; this happens multiple times so I have useles tracking of the run wrist band; never wet or humid or heavily perspired on; up to date firmware
After having a ton of syncing problems that never got resolved I now get "Please wait, syncronization in progress..." screen for a long period of time. It will eventually time out.
I have tried uninstall, reinstall, and even a factory reset erasing everything. Nothing works. I have had this issue with the last couple versions of the MOTOACTV app but I am currently on 2.0.52. I emailed support a logcat a while back but never heard anything from it. I love the MOTOACTV, but without the app.
Oh and I am using a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.0.4.
So before this last update I think my wifi was always on. When I got back from a run by the time I could get to my laptop the data was already synced. After this update it seems the wifi is off and when I click on wifi settings it says "enabling wifi". How do I turn this off or on so either it always connect to my wifi when in range or stays off until i tell it?
I can't remove the belt clip.I'm encountering alot of resistance and I'm afraid I'll break the unit if I apply more. Can a guy put the clip on incorrectly or will it only go on one way? It slide on easy enough, but getting it off is another story. Please help, or I'm gonna have to send the unit in and have them do it for me. I've had the unit several days, but couldn't use it much waiting on the strap to come in, now this.
I cant login to motoactv. It says invalid account credentials. I try to reset password but it gives me unknown error message in popup box. My account is: [URL]I just bought device yesterday and have never been able to login.
I would like to use the MOTOACTV for geocaching. For those who don't know it's a sport/activity where you go to a website and look up GPS coordinates for a treasure. You then upload the coordinates to a GPS and see if you can find the treasure. For the whole explanation you can go to [URL].With the golf upgrade it seems that the device can have a further update to allow geoaching. The device simply needs to know where it is and where the destination is, then provide the user the direction and distance from one to the other. That's exactly what it's doing for Golf. The only modification is that the user loads in the destination point rather than it being one of preloaded golf courses. In addition to getting to the geocache there are hints sometimes provided, so it would be nice to upload that to the device as well. This is generally referred to as "paperless geocaching". An example of a completing product is the Dakota 10 by Garmin.I currently use a handheld GPS for this activity but would much prefer to use this product. It would open up the product to a whole new audience of perspective buyers.
