Motorola Droid X2 :: Update Saying Not Available On Phone?
Aug 14, 2011
Anyone else getting the message that the update is not available when they try to get it from thier phone? I've been trying since the news was published and no luck.
I just got an update message for update 4.2. something.. I didnt record the full update number/version.I gave the ok to download and install after reading the warning that it might take up to 7 minutes to complete. It has locked with the red dot "M" logo for 30 minutes. What should I do now? Holding the power button does not turn it off , no buttons get any response. I am about to pull the battery and restart but I fear I might cobble up the update and cause more harm.
So I awoke to an update notification from VZW indicating that an OTA update was available for my D2G.I downloaded the update which took ~25 minutes it went through the restart and installed the software and then upon an auto restart after installation the phone showed a new M logo, transitioned to the pulsating droid logo and is stuck there.I've tried restarting the phone several time with no luck.
When Motorola updated the software on my cell phone late last night, it reset my Droid X2. I woke up this morning to a cell phone that no longer had any of my contacts, calendar, email accounts, sound settings, previous text messages, call history, downloaded applications, and icons on my 5 screens that took me a month to set up to my preferences. Verizon Wireless CONFIRMED that Motorola performed a software update after midnight on 7/20/12. When I re-setup my google email account, my contacts and calendar were back, but EVERYTHING else is gone or needs to be re-installed and re-setup. I called Motorola support, but they provided no help or explanation. The support supervisor kept asking me if someone at my residence reset my phone (that would be quite a coincidence to occur on the very night that Motorola performed a software upgrade).
Under 2.3.4 on the Bionic when you placed a call using the stock calling app you would see under the photo of your caller his/her Facebook status update (providing they were linked via Facebook).this seems to have been removed on 2.3.5 with the Razr.or am I just not flipping some switch?
I just received my x2 yesterday. When gmail arrives on the phone, as soon as it appears on my computer it disappears from the phone. Is there a setting i need to change?
I have an R2D2 Droid 2 that I (foolishly) flashed over to the standard Droid 2 system version, in order to run the Gingerbread build for it that came out a couple weeks ago. At the time, I was convinced that the R2 would not be getting a GB build, so I jumped the gun.
Now that the official R2 GB has been released, I would really like to get back to stock. It's kind of the whole reason I bought this phone instead of a regular Droid 2. Unfortunately, along the way I've managed to lose my stock image for the R2, and AFAIK there has never been an SBF released for the R2.
I've been trying for at least a month to come up with a solution to this problem, have scoured the internet (and noticed a lot of people that have had the same problem), and have pretty much run out of ideas at this point. I also know that rooting and flashing aren't necessarily condoned by Motorola in general, but does anyone have any other ideas on how I could get back to stock R2, Froyo or GB, at this point?
I know the update is supposed to be rolling out today, and according to vzw you're supposed to be able to do a manual update but every time i check it says i'm up to date and no update is available. so what is the official status is it live or not? or are you only able to do manual if you have an unlocked phone.
I have been checking for the latest update for a few days now and keep getting the message: "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later." Is this because the GB update is being rolled out in stages still or is there a problem with my particular phone's ability to update?
When is it reasonable to expect the X2 to receive the update to Gingerbread not that the Droid X is receiving it in the field? As a consumer I would have expected the newest model of the Motorola family to have been shipped with Gingerbread but seing the old model Droid X receive it before the X2 is a little puzzling.
The update has made the wi-fi next to unusable. I have removed the Wi-Fi connection and re-entered it. Power cycled the phone, done a battery pull. Nothing fixes the issue. Try running a speed test it either fails consistently with "network communication failure" or the bandwidth is horrendous. I never had such issues before the update. The issue is not only at home even at work. I was wondering if others were seeing such abysmal performance. I have NEVER rooted my phone. I wish I had and switched to community ROM, they seem to be doing a better job than a corporation like Motorola. I just wish Motorola never updated this phone, every update has caused the phones performance to deteriorate. The Droid X could have been a worthy successor to the Droid but Motorola just screwed it up. I have been a loyal motorola and verizon customer for close to 10 years now. When my contract gets done one thing is for certain I will never ever be buying another Motorola device nor will I ever recommend a Motorola device ever again. Releasing half a dozen devices every year is only what Motorola is good at
Updated to GB this morning, and phone has been hone has basically been on charge all day.Wifi, Bluetooth, and GPS are all off, yet my battery seems to actually be dropping, despite being plugged in and charging indicator blinking as normal. Anyone else with this issue Perhaps my battery is failing and in need of replacement, but quite coincidental that same day as the update.
My D2G has started locking up for long periods even when just unlocking the phone after waking it up. Rebooting does not help. I know of one other D2G owner who is experiencing this as well?
My wife and I noticed that neither one of our Droid Xs can get the GPS to lock on.Before the latest update we both were using the gps while in Chicago and on the way back to New York the week of August 1rst.This week we can't get the gps to work on either phone; it will continually keep searching and searching.I've been trying for three days now.We have tried 3rd party gps apps and that will not work.We have tried rebooting both phones and pulling batteries, and it still will not fix the problem. Everything else works on the phone- wifi, blue tooth, calls, etc.
For the past few days my GPS will freeze once it's obtained a fix on my position. If I open a new application that uses the GPS, it will obtain a new fix, but again freeze as soon as it's done so. This issue is consistent across all GPS applications I've tried (Google Maps, Navigation, Waze, GPS Status, GPS Test). It also happens regardless of whether the phone is in my car dock or not.
I'm running into an odd issue, and I can't seem to find any fixes for it. For some reason, I can only update apps in the Play Store one at a time. For example, this morning I had 10 apps show needing updates. I tapped on "Update All". One app updated fine, then the next one went to "Downloading", but never showed a statusAfter over 30 minutes, it still just showed "Downloading". I tapped on "Stop", then "Update All" again, and one more app updated, then the same behavior of the next one just sitting on "Downloading" happened. I kep repeating this, and got all of the apps updated. This happens on 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi, both at work and at home. I've tried clearing all data/updates from the Play Store app, and completely removing and re-adding my Google account.
When I had a missed call before the update I used to have the led light flash to let me know that I had a missed call. Now I get no led notification. I get other led notifications but no longer missed call. How do I get my missed call led notification back?
For the last two days it says can't check for update at this time try again later im wondering if maybe they are loading gingerbread right now and that's why or maybe another problem?
I keep getting the OTA update on my Droid 4 and I let it download and then say install. It goes through the motions like it's installing but then GB loads back up and I see an error prompt that says the update failed. I am not rooted and I'm running an unmodified 2.3.6 GB that the Motorola Droid 4 comes with. Any ideas why it's failing? Also, after I get the fail prompt if I want to try it again I have to download the update file all over again which takes a long time even over my wifi internet connection, is there a way to store a copy of the update file on my sdcard so I don't have to keep downloading it?
I've encountered the dreaded "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped" pop up which renders your phone useless. It came about by accidentally brushing over "Force RTL layout direction" in Dev Options which has a bug in Lollipop. I didn't get a chance to enable "USB Debugging" So I can't access the internal storage.
I was thinking if I could reinstall Lollipop (I already downloaded the OTA ROM) and updated it again through ADB it would reset the Dev Options and fix the issue. Or I only care about a month of timesheet info from the Timesheet app. If I could get that info I would be ok to do a Factory Reset.
We have 4 droid 3 phones here. The one I updated to 5.7.906 will now stop showing blue bars of wifi strength at the top of the screen after some time ( happens during inactivity but also during downloads ). The ones not updated ( 5.6.890 ) still continue to work flawlessly on wifi.In settings the updated phone still shows as connected to our network with bars of signal strength even though no bars highlighted are at the top of the screen. If I stop wifi on the phone and restart it it connects properly and gets the blue bars back at the top of screen and I can access the network. After some time though the blue bars will disapear and the phone will not be able to access the network ( even though in settings it will still show as connected with signal strength)I have checked battery saver options, gone through the process of forgetting settings on the phone and rebooting the router, removed all security from the router and done a factory reset of the phone ( which did not revert back to the old system version ). As the unupdated phones still work properly I am happy that the issues lies with the new update and as it still occurrs after a factory reset it suggests that the issue is not caused by a 3rd party app resident on the phone. Is there anyway I can undo the update on this phone so it will work properly again? Or is there any other way to get wifi working consistently again?
My Driod X crashed. I lost most of my contacts and all the installed apps. Is there anywhere to recover the apps installed instead of going to market one by one?
This morning I was prompted to download & install the new update OTA. I have attempted to do so 4-5 times now. Each time, it completes the download, reboots the phone to start the update, then when the update progress bar is about 1/2 of the way through, an icon with an exclamation point appears & then the update stops. The phone proceeds to boot up like normal. After it finishes booting up it displays a message stating that the update failed.I really would like to NOT have to do a factory reset to my phone just to get the update to install
I recieved the 905 update a few days ago and everything has been going good untill last night when i no long connect to 4glte it only has 3g available.
