Motorola Droid X2 :: How To Add Contact During Call
Aug 28, 2011
When on a call with someone and they ask you for a persons phone number, is there away you can leave them and go to your contacts, pull up that phone number and then go back to the person on the phone ?
If I'm in the text message app viewing a conversation, press menu key, call, all the contact phones numbers show as "Other". the contact phone numbers have the correct labels in the contacts app.
My company has one conference call number and everyone has their own passcode. I would like to create a contact with the main call number and add each persons passcode to their contact information as an "other" phone number. Is there a way to call the contact number then when prompted for the passcode, go to a the appropriate contact and have their "other" number sent to enter the conference call?
This should be an easy function, but I cannot figure it out. I view the list of calls, select options -- no option to add from the list. When adding a contact, no option to add from the call list. Am I missing something or is this really not a valid function?
I am facing a very frustrating problem. Sometimes when I create/edit a contact and hit save, then search for that contact in my contacts I can't find it!! Or sometimes I can find it but with all the contact information deleted.I am using Verizon Backup assitant to manage my contacts. I wonder if anyone else have the same problem. That problem is not only frustrating, but also embarassing, especially when you are entering a new friend's contact while showing off your phone
After having gone a couple of months withs with Gingerbread without any problems to report I started experiencing a strange thing with incoming calls, texts, emails, etc.For incoming calls, the number displayed is the correct number but the screen pulls an incorrect name from my contacts list and displays a picture (taken from either LinkedIn or Facebook profiles) that is from a third, different contact. So the number is for Contact A and is the actual caller, the name that is displayed is contact B and the photo is contact c.If I go to make an outgoing call, the same thing in the inverse occurs.I choose Contact A and it dials contact A but displays it is calling contact B.This has caused me to have to double & triple check when I am making calls to ensure that it is calling the right contacts.
A similar thing happens for texts, incoming texts display the correct number from which they are originating but display that they are from a different contact name. When I go to send a text and enter a number it indicates that it is sending it to the correct phone number but with a different name assocaited with that number. Finally, something similar is happening in email messaging. If I hit reply, while the actual email address is correct the contact name that it lists is incorrect.
Has anyone else noticed a crackling noise (like bad reception / interference) when placing calls? I want to say what I notice is when I'm getting the ring back while waiting for someone to pick up is the "only" time I hear it. The audio in calls seems to be ok. It's sounds like a weak signal or interference. As far as I know (though I use my phone more for data than voice).I haven't noticed anything horrible as far as reception/call audio in calls, aside from when calling my mom, but I think that's her (she's famous for leaning on the mic or mumbling and trailing off). I start to think I must be old (I'm not) and losing my hearing (I'm not) but then I just realize it's herI don't know if it's because usually when I make a call I just unlock the screen and make the call and it was trying to re-start any data sleeping modes and such or if it's something else...
When I receive a sms message sometimes, the original text comes through fine. However, a few minutes later I get small bits and pieces of the original message sent to me in about 10 separate text messages ( sometimes more ) from a California telephone number (I live in Mass.). When I call that number from my Bionic, it goes right ot my voice mail voice mail. When I call the number from a landline, it states that the call cannot be completed.
Frequently when I am using my bluetooth (I use more than one Motorola BT Oasis and Motorola H710) and when I end the call the Razr does not drop the call until I wake the Razr up.
I wrote a post here before realizing that the thread trail (Home -> Forum -> Canadian Carrier Discussion -> TELUS Mobility -> CDMA Network and Devices) was pretty narrow, and the thread itself seemed bloated. So I moved it here. I've done a bit of the "intro" stuff: up/down-loaded pictures/ringtones and changed the cover display, so i'm pretty familiar with p2k Commander. But, like some other folks (and as i say in my post) i found either myself incompetent or the software lacking. Regardless, I've experienced some success with this direction so i think i'm gonna take it as far as i can.
Out of all my contacts, only one has the name appear when they call. The rest only has their number appear when they call. I've looked, and I see no difference between them.
I noticed this yesterday when I was leaving a voice mail message, that when I pressed the End Call "button" nothing seemed to happen. I was still connected to the call. I pressed a little harder for a little longer, and still I was connected. I had to turn the phone completely off to disconnect the call. It happened again today when I was leaving another message. Then I called my brother and talked to him for a minute, and I think the call only disconnected when he hung up, not when I pressed End Call.
When I press the contacts button on my droid x to bring up contacts the red arrow starts to circle like it is starting up and then I get back to the main screen. Contacts will not come up. This happened once before and the Verizon tech person had me to a hard reboot and I had to reset my email, download my contacts again and a lot of other stuff. Any way to get contacts back?
Since upgrading to ICS, my daughter's cell phone will not show up in the "favorite contacts" widget, even though her contact entry is checked when I select Add Contact function. How can I get this to be added? (WOrls fine in Android 2.x that originally shipped with my Droid Razr Maxx from Verizon).
Using Lotus Traveler for email. My contacts link themselves all the time. If I fix them/unlink them, within a day or two they are linked again. Im talking 20 contacts all linked under one name, and this happening to most my contacts
when I hit the text mess. icon then the green + in top right corner to compose new text I now have to type in name, and can't scroll down contact list. Also the email address comes up instead of the contacts phone number.
Droid X updated with System Version 4.5.605 Android Version 2.3.3
I know how to change the ringtones for individual contacts. My problem is some of them will not change from default. I am not trying to do anything drastic, and I have not rooted my phone. I am using the ringtones provided built into the phone.
I do not know how long this has been an issue. I just tried last night to change one contact's ringtone and it would not move from default. I went through my phone randomly picking contacts that were all listed as default. Some would change, others would not.
why when I go to write a text message and go to a group, more than half the members of the group are grayed out and it says these contacts have no numbers.I am a massive group texter and now I am stuck in quicksand over this.and one more thing, what is with these "My account groups" that were normal functioning groups before GB and now they cannot even be edited.
Is there an app to clean up my contact list?I had my old contact list imported from my old blackberry. Then Facebook and Linkedin imported all my contacts there. So now I have two and three listings for most people. Is there a way to merge the same name contacts?
Ever since the update to 2.3.3, I am unable to add to my current groups with additional contacts. Has anyone experienced the same problem? If so, how do you add someone to a Group from the Contact List?
So, My contacts when joined for the first week or 2 worked like they should have and updated photos from facebook from everyone in my phone. Last few days... Slowly one by one it seems that ppl are starting to lose there photo and its not updating contact information with facebook anymore. Is there a glitch going on with fb and moto? I know something similar happened with htc last year... Kind of hoping not with moto
As I am having to again restore my contacts to my latest replacement phone, I am reminded that neither VZ back up nor Corporate Sync restore all of the photos associated with the contacts.Google associated contacts seem to, but there doesn't appear to be a way to change where individual contacts are saved after they are created.I tried exporting my contacts to the SD card last time, but this also didn't include all of the photos.
On my N97 mini i select a contact out of the contact-list, i select the correct phone-number and make the call. After finishing the call, the screen goes back to main menu.... but the contacts-app sticks active in the background. In order to close that, i have to long-press the button, switch to contacts, and close. Which is a little bit fussily.....
I wonder if anyone can help me. I am using the nokia 5310 and even though I am using a sim card with all my names stored in it, when I get a call or a text from someone who is in my phonebook it still just shows up as a number.
Also the names are not in order in my phone book.I am using this phone in Canada, and I got it from Ireland so the time on my incoming messages is 5 hours behind. So many issues!!
My contacts have been driving me up a wall the last few days and I have finally discovered what is happening. How I might be able to change this...
View #1 Homescreen - Contacts App - displays only the name and picture of each contact.
View #2 Homescreen - Phone App (stock app) - All Contacts - displays name, picture and phone number(s) with labels (i.e., mobile, work, etc.)
Why for the love of all things Moto are these two different?? I prefer view #2 given it displays the phone numbers.
Is there any way at all to change the settings to where I see view #2 no matter how I access my contacts list? This is unbelievably annoying!!
Also, on my old Razr Maxx, when viewing the contacts list, the alphabet was aligned vertically along the right side of the screen and I could jump to a specific letter by touching it.
Now on my Turbo, there is no alphabet and I can't jump directly to the Ts for example.. I now have to scroll through the entire blasted list. Any way to add the quick-jump alphabet to the Turbo contact list?
Here are pictures to demonstrate my issues. Mainly the different views problem as I don't have my Razr Maxx any longer to show the quick-jump alphabet I'm talking about wanting again.
Picture 1 is View #1 (contacts app) Picture 2 is View #2 (all contacts via phone app)
Droid Turbo Ballistic 64G (running v5.1). Since the last 2 Android upgrades, phone has stopped displaying a Groups tab in contacts (Favorites & All Contacts are only tabs shown)
I haven't found any settings to fix this, and validated that other brand phones did not lose Groups tab after the upgrade!
Note: phone allows contacts to be assigned to groups (as always); but haven't found a way to utilize groups & would like that capability back!
I have just updated to ICS. So far so good but a number of my contacts have incorrect telepohone numbers. This happened when importing contacts from my motoblur account to a previous phone - either the 0 was left off the beginning or the number changed to something like this 3.51967E+11.
Is it possible to assign a unique ring tone to each contact? I understand the process of bringing in ring tones to the SD card, so having enough ring tones is not a problem.
