Motorola Droid X :: GB Has Messed Up Contact Groups
Jun 17, 2011
why when I go to write a text message and go to a group, more than half the members of the group are grayed out and it says these contacts have no numbers.I am a massive group texter and now I am stuck in quicksand over this.and one more thing, what is with these "My account groups" that were normal functioning groups before GB and now they cannot even be edited.
Droid Turbo Ballistic 64G (running v5.1). Since the last 2 Android upgrades, phone has stopped displaying a Groups tab in contacts (Favorites & All Contacts are only tabs shown)
I haven't found any settings to fix this, and validated that other brand phones did not lose Groups tab after the upgrade!
Note: phone allows contacts to be assigned to groups (as always); but haven't found a way to utilize groups & would like that capability back!
Ever since the last system update, the Contact Groups I created have an icon with a padlock next to them and I have no capacity to edit their content.
I can create new Groups (I assume, because there's a button that says I can), but can't change existing ones. I've tried going to the individual contacts to see if the group designation reside there now, etc. I'm wondering if this is tied to Verizon's Backup Assistant, somehow, though my groups don't appear on the web interface for that service at all.
When accessing a contact group, the bionic will always open the last opened contact group. I worked through some settings with motorola last winter, but the problem has never corrected. I even received a new phone when the speaker jack crapped out, same issue.
After the ICS update my email groups won't function. When i type in the group name it doesn't appear as an option for me to select. This is incredibly frustrating. What's more, the only way you can use the group is by navigating to contacts, scrolling over to groups, then pushing the group, then clicking "send email" this would be fine if i always selected the group before sending the email, but my primary use case is taking a picture and sending it to a distribution group (pictures of my kid sent to grandparents and family every day). When I take the picture then click the button to attach it to an email, then try to type in the group name, it doesn't appear.
i got the N900 and i have some Qs, 1- how i make contact groups ? 2- how i can make speed dial ? 3- how i can make voice command ? 4- how it increse the font size on contact names ? 5- why the missed call come with the full name and all phone no. , i need to know the missed no. of the contact person.
I am unable to add contacts or edit contact groups. I can create a new group and get as far as checking the check boxes in add contacts to group but it will not update.
When I try to send to a Handcent group that I create, the group will not appear in the "To:" field. This pretty much nixes any reason I have for using Handcent.
Everything was fine when I had the X. X2, not so great. And I have auto-updating set.
i had a galaxy 3 before and had all my business contacts in groups....by the towns they are located in...but I can't find any way to make groups or import my groups from the Galaxy to the turbo.
Droid 3. Trying to group my contacts but when I give the new group a name and hit OK, the group does not show up in the listing. All I have is System Group: My contacts.
Also, in Gmail, I have my contact grouped but don't know how to sync them down to the phone, if that's possible. If I could do that it would be much easier and faster than manually setting them up on the phone, since the categorization is already completed.
Noted previously that the "Favorites" widget now requires extra steps to manage which contacts are in or out of the widget and where they appear.
This retro less-intuitive-but-more-steps disease seems also to have struck Apps Groups. TPTB that they assign the designer for the folder replacement to manage the whole GUI. Or at least give her/him veto over going backwards.
Don't mean to be snotty, but when my 2012 phone has built-in apps from 1995, I become despondent and irritable.
Is there any way to forward email to group contacts ? I have group contacts set up in my gmail contact but i have not been able to use them on ICS and my Razr Maxx with ICS.

I have taken my gmail contacts and sorted them into groups. For example Friends and Friends 2, where Friends are people I call all the time and Friends 2 are those I call once a year. On my D2G under Contacts>menu>Show/hide. It says "check the groups to hide." If I check Friends 2, should this not now hide all the contacts in the Friends 2 group?
In Contacts Menu there is also a "Show Group", and this has the options Create new Group, All contacts, favorites, Google, and Phone contacts. This is confusing to me. If I choose "Google" which I assume is all my Gmail contacts, shouldn't the Show/hide apply to those groups? This is not the case. I have checked and unchecked several groups to hide and they still display. I have also verified that the contacts are only in the groups that are checked. So they should be hidden.
I want be able to hide certain groups in contacts and only show them when I need them. I'm not getting this right. I have synced since organizing the the the Gmail contacts.
Prior to the old handset being sent away, i backe up my contacts to the SD card, which i thought was all well and fine,Hah!So, after downloading the contacts into the phonebook, i was surprised to see that the numbers had been partially replaced with hyphens, making it a no go to recover the actual digitsI ended up getting something like, 013-25-5489 which in this example, has two digits missing. How are we supposed to work out what we are missing.I have emailed SE CC UK about my situation, so we will see what excuses they come back with and if i do not like them, then i shall take this issue to out Trading Standards as the back up facility does not do what it says on the tin.
I am currently running the latest OS, 2.3.6, on my Razr. I have recently noticed that, after an app is updated, if I had it in a custom group in the app tray, it is removed after the update. At first I thought that this occured when I had to manually accept the update because of different permissions, but I noticed that any update will remove it. For an example, I know the latest updates to Blastr, Dvice, and the Discover mobile app were all removed from the groups.
My wife and I both downloaded the new Gingerbread update today on our Droid Xs. Everything went smoothly, and love the interface, cut copy and paste features especially. The only problem I'm facing right now is in contacts we both had e-mailed groups set up. I have over 500 contacts with the business I have. I personally needed to have three groups in my contacts: one for personal, business, and business active.
What has happened after updating Gingerbread is all of our contact "groups" are now in what is called "My account groups". I cannot edit add or delete any member in these groups. Any trick to editing or deleting or adding to the groups in "My account groups"? The only workaround I have found is to create a new group and select each and every member in my contact list again which consists of going through almost 500 contacts and splitting them into three categories.
So yesterday I upgraded my SGS2 from Android 2.3 to the the Ice cream sandwich via kies. All went well except that now I can't see my contact pictures in third party applications. My contacts are all linked to Facebook so their pictures are all set to their Facebook profile pictures. Before the update, applications such as whatsapp and Handcent SMS automatically sync this information and the contact name and picture will be displayed. Now only the stock applications can display contact name and picture not any downloaded application.
I have the iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1. Is there any way for me to organize my contacts into groups so that I can send a text message to a large group of people without having to individually pick out their contact? On my old phone I could simply assign each contact to a group name. I'm sure there is a function like this on the iPhone.
I am facing a very frustrating problem. Sometimes when I create/edit a contact and hit save, then search for that contact in my contacts I can't find it!! Or sometimes I can find it but with all the contact information deleted.I am using Verizon Backup assitant to manage my contacts. I wonder if anyone else have the same problem. That problem is not only frustrating, but also embarassing, especially when you are entering a new friend's contact while showing off your phone
After having gone a couple of months withs with Gingerbread without any problems to report I started experiencing a strange thing with incoming calls, texts, emails, etc.For incoming calls, the number displayed is the correct number but the screen pulls an incorrect name from my contacts list and displays a picture (taken from either LinkedIn or Facebook profiles) that is from a third, different contact. So the number is for Contact A and is the actual caller, the name that is displayed is contact B and the photo is contact c.If I go to make an outgoing call, the same thing in the inverse occurs.I choose Contact A and it dials contact A but displays it is calling contact B.This has caused me to have to double & triple check when I am making calls to ensure that it is calling the right contacts.
A similar thing happens for texts, incoming texts display the correct number from which they are originating but display that they are from a different contact name. When I go to send a text and enter a number it indicates that it is sending it to the correct phone number but with a different name assocaited with that number. Finally, something similar is happening in email messaging. If I hit reply, while the actual email address is correct the contact name that it lists is incorrect.
On the E72, if you have tingtones associated to Caller Groups and a particular Contact is a member of 2 (or even 3) Groups, which ringtone will sound when he calls in?
Ive created a list of sub-groups for my fairly extensive contact list, but I can't figure out how to add contacts to these subgroups without having to re-enter the contact info as a "new contact". Is it possible to select from my "All Contacts" list those numbers I want included in a particular subgroup?
It seems that the E71 does not support groups like older models used to: apparently groups are listed alongside contacts, and it is no longer possible to see and search groups directly. I'd like to see my groups straight away (e.g. clients, business partners, friends, etc), open and search them, rather than finding them among the contacts. Actually, this setup misses the whole point of classifying contacts into groups! What on Earth was Nokia thinking? Is there any way around this? A firmware update or a third-party app? Also, how are contact groups managed in the N97 mini? Is it the same, or does that mobile finally allow you to see and search groups directly?
